Player Comments:
- "Thank you Chris for a great (and very close) game; it's a shame we didn't get to finish, although I don't think I would have had the energy for a third set, so I think I got off lightly! See you in the next round." -- Anthony
Player Comments:
- "Thank you Craig for the game. The match was very tight and even. I hope to play with you again." -- Piotr
Player Comments:
- "Nice match on a sunny day!" -- Dominic
Player Comments:
- "Baris, Thank you so much for another very enjoyable match (if we ignore the weather and the interruption). Some good tennis, some great point making and some real 'digging in'. I very much look forward to our next encounter. All the best, Simon" -- Simon
Player Comments:
- "Good to see you again and (almost) get the match in before the rain! Thanks for coming down!" -- Dominic
Player Comments:
- "A great match in conditions we've not seen for some time! Sun and no wind!! A close and tentative first set with Daniel dropping some first serve bombs to keep me worried. The second set saw some more good tennis but (fortunately for me), Daniel's big serve was less consistent. Great fun, and I can't believe it's been 9 months since we last played. I look forward to the next one." -- Simon
Player Comments:
- "Very competitive match against Danial who has very strong first serv and brilliant single hand back hand. in the 1st set I was consistent with my rally shots and effective servs, forcing my opponent to make errors. In the 2nd Daniel improved his effective 1st servs forcing me to make most of the errors, hence I think the last set was close and could have gone either way. Looking forward to meet again for another tennis encounter with Daniel. All the best." -- Baris Ali
Player Comments:
- "Really great to see you again and get this match played. Once again, good fun, and hopefully will see you again soon. Well played. Thanks, Simon" -- Simon
Player Comments:
- "Great game with some exhausting rallies and very difficult to read shots. Best of luck with your remaining matches. Look forward to playing you again soon. " -- Anthony
Player Comments:
- "Great to see you again and to get the match played on such a wet day. Hopefully see you again soon, all the best, simon" -- Simon
Player Comments:
- "Chris came out strong with his signature slam-dunk -walloper serve causing all sorts of trouble for a scrambling Jerome. The rhythm of the match settled in a strange way with the average rally length being 1.5 shots. Chris launched a few short balls into neighbouring counties but when he found his spots they were unreturnable hammer blows. Jerome had some success to leaning into a high margin game from the baseline but also found the short balls a problem when he attempted to create shape he would end up sending them to the clouds. Could that have been the reason the clouds responded with hail stone storm of fury? Or was that Craig who was on the court next to us activating his special elemental power to disrupt D1 Dan’s game? " -- Jerome
Player Comments:
- "An old fan favourite fixture made its return to the fabled purple and green of Hampden Park as two top pros faced off in what turned out to be a crazy afternoon of tennis. Daniel took the first set after playing some aggressive tennis, despite Craig’s new and enhanced ‘Bazooka’ serve as fans are calling it, and some incredible defensive shots making every rally one to savour. After Daniel stormed to a 3-0 lead in the 2nd set, Craig decided to use his special ability to call down the Scottish elements and an almighty shower of rain and hail followed. Craig dealt with these conditions very well and made the 2nd set very competitive, with Daniel having just enough to edge the final set. Good game Craig!" -- Daniel
Player Comments:
- "Nice game and chat with Craig today. He hit some ridiculous drop shots!!" -- Dominic
Player Comments:
- "Good, tight game. Thank you Jessica!" -- Piotr
Player Comments:
- "Good to be back on the royal blue courts of the Old Town Stomping Ground. This match had a lot of momentum swings and fun rallies. I saw it going all the way to a third set it was that evenly balanced. Cheers Anthony! " -- Jerome
Player Comments:
- "Another tentatively played, tight, drawn out affair (but played on a really good evening). The match could have gone either way. Thanks Dominic, see you very soon probably." -- Simon
Player Comments:
- "Great game - lovely to meet you. Best of luck with the rest of your matches! " -- Anthony
Player Comments:
- "If there was a prize for the most improved player in the league then I would give it to Caroline. She hit many superb serves, returns and ground strokes and she raced to a 5-3 lead in the first set. I somehow managed to win the next 4 games to take the set. The second set was close too but I managed to scramble through and take it 6-4. If it had not been for someone with the initials S U who gave me a few serving lessons last month then I would have been on my way home after half an hour! Thanks for a great match and workout Caroline and not looking forward to playing you again in the next round!!" -- Craig
Player Comments:
- "It wasn't an easy match to play under the extreme wind conditions, but thanks to Anthony who made the effort to play. All the best." -- Baris Ali
Player Comments:
- "A real pleasure to meet you Piotr, some really good rallies and some excellent retrievals. I look forward to sèing you again. Thanks, Simon" -- Simon
Player Comments:
- "Thanks for a great game Chris! It was a tough battle on court!" -- Caroline
Player Comments:
- "After 9 months of anticipation two tennis titans finally collided on centre court in the heart of Hampden Park. The two walked out to an absolutely raucous reception from local fans in attendance, and they certainly got their moneys worth. With more deuce points than stars in the known universe, this matchup was a gruelling one for both competitors. Daniel managed to edge the majority of these tight games with his signature glitchy movement around the court, showcasing great defensive skills against the ferocious Jerome “the juggernaut” forehand. Without doubt, this was the highest level of tennis seen in this age old rivalry and fans will be keeping a close eye on it to see how it continues to evolve in the coming years." -- Daniel
Player Comments:
- "As always it was pleasure to meet again, wishing you all the best for the remainder of your matches." -- Baris Ali
Player Comments:
- "Really good to see you Anthony, not the greatest conditions to play in though. Thanks for the match and best of luck for your future matches." -- Simon
Player Comments:
- "As the harsh North Atlantic winds battered the purple and green courts of Hampden Park, two titans, two rivals looked to settle the score in the purest form of combat… boxing. That’s right, instead of tennis we swung at each other, onlookers aghast at the sheer violence. Nah, but it might as well have been with the incredible fight from us both. Long deuce games. Drop shots. Underarm serves. This match had it all. Craig has developed a vicious serve and aced me quite a few times! All the best in the league and looking forward to our future clashes!" -- Jerome
Player Comments:
- "Alot of improvement in Jerome's game compared to the last time we met. All the best." -- Baris Ali
Player Comments:
- "It's always a fun match when your opponent is the happy smiley fun girl Jessica :-)) All the best " -- Baris Ali
Player Comments:
- "Another enjoyable meeting with Craig, some great rallying and good humour. Thanks for the match." -- Simon
Player Comments:
- "It was nice meeting Piotre over a tennis match. All the best." -- Baris Ali
Player Comments:
- "Seemingly unlike all previously reported matches this round, we were lucky to have a glorious winter afternoon to play. Another fun match with some memorable rallies. Thanks Jessica, and well played. Simon" -- Simon
Player Comments:
- "Lovely to meet you. Great game; hopefully will play you again soon - perhaps on a slightly less icy court! " -- Anthony
Player Comments:
- "Nah look, I can explain. I hereby announce a veto request on the Fishermen’s Green Venue. Bants aside, Jessica showed great variety in her game which made for a good back and forth!" -- Jerome
Player Comments:
- "It was not easy to adapt to both the very wendy weather condition as well as the tricky forhand backspin of Craig's. As always it was a pleasure meeting. " -- Baris Ali
Player Comments:
- "An enjoyable match played in very windy conditions which was a real challenge to both of us. We had to allow for the wind with every shot so some very interesting rallies! Look forward to playing you again Jessica on a nice calm sunny day! Well played today." -- Craig
