THE COTTENHAM PARK & MERTON TENNIS LEAGUE

Friendly, competitive tennis for all! 

Before you get playing!
New members are welcome to join at any point, but you will need to wait till the start of the next round before you can start playing. 
There are four rounds a year of singles, so you shouldn't have to wait long.
This is a mixed singles league, (with mixed doubles also offered)
It’s divided into groups of about 6 players of a similar standard
Everyone in their group plays everyone else on Highbury Fields unless another venue suits both parties
Matches are the best of three tie break sets (allow 2 hours per match)
It’s up to everyone to arrange their own matches
You get one point for every set you win.
At the end of the round, the top one or two players go up to the next group, and the bottom one
or two go down.
You get a free can of balls and two bonus points if you complete three matches by the half way point.
Everyone who wins their group wins a bottle of champagne and one of our mighty fine certificates.

Designed to solve the problem of how to get matches on your local tennis courts even if you are not a member of a tennis club, this league is for everyone!  

It is the ideal way to meet new people to play and to become a better player.
 

How it works:
 It is a mixed sex singles league, so men and women play each other.

  •  You have 8 weeks to play up to 7 matches

Matches are arranged by players at a time that suits them. 

  • You can play on any court that suits both players
  • Players are organised into groups according to their standard. Click here for the questionnaire
  • All standards are welcome, from beginners to advanced
  • Open to adults (18 years +) 
  • Entry £12 
  • Winners of each group win £20
    Everyone who complete three matches by the half way point is sent a FREE can of tennis balls
    At the end of each round, winners go up (where possible) losers go down and it re-starts with a new round
