Player Comments:

  • "indoor match again on the fast turf. Joe had a break point in the second game but didn't manage to make the return on a second serve. Seemed to be a key point as after that it was one way traffic. I only had to make steady shots and put away the easy balls as Joe was making so many errors. Joe held again at the start of the second set and also had more break points but his consistency was not there today. I hope he had more success in his search for a butchers that was open :-) "  -- Julian
Reveal CommentJulian Langley bt Julian Leichtmann (Dec 28) 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "played indoors on tiger turf so fast and low bounce. I went up 4-1 but played one sloppy game and it went to a breaker. Julian Le was up 4-2 at the change and had a dead net chord to take the it 7-4. Momentum was still against me and at 0-40 and 3-1 down in the second I was facing a straight set loss but I luckily held and the whole match changed. The next 7 or 8 games went my way and within 20 mins or so I was 5-1 up in the third. Close match but not as good standard as previous matches despite no wind. "  -- Julian

Reveal CommentJulian Langley bt Stefano Franzoso (Dec 11) 7-5, 3-6, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Lucky in first set as I saved 3 or 4 set points! Second set Stefano was on top and broke twice, and I never even got to deuce on his serve let alone a break point. 3rd set went my way as I won a couple of tight games to go 4-0 up but it could easily have been 2-2. This was then too much to come back from. Very still and overcast weather and we finished just before the rain came down for the rest of the day. "  -- Julian

Player Comments:

  • "tight game and I was very lucky to win in straight sets. At 3-3 there were two deuce games where we both had game points in. I won both to make it 5-3 then closed the set out. Second set Cartsen went a break up early and nearly managed to get to 4-1. I hung in there and broke at 3-3 again and later served out the match to 15. phew....don't think I could have taken another set as these two took 1 hour 45 mins. "  -- Julian

Player Comments:

  • "Really enjoyable match! Jonathan has good technique, plenty of topspin and great touch at the net, and once he gets more matches under his belt he will be a force to be reckoned with. In the first set I played as good as I can play and ran away with it but the second set was much tighter with most games going to deuce. "  -- Paul
Reveal CommentPaul Rubinstein bt David Chart (Dec 8) 3-6, 6-4, [10-4]

Player Comments:

  • "A very close match! In the first set David served well, dominated the rallies and finished most of the points with his forehand. In the second set his first serve percentage dropped and I managed to have more of a say in the rallies and also found my backhand that had gone missing in the first set. The second set was heading towards a tie break when I had a super lucky net cord which gave me the break, the set, and took the contest into a match tie break. Thanks David for the match!"  -- Paul
Reveal CommentPaul Rubinstein bt Raf O'Reilly (Dec 6) 6-3, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Really enjoyable tactical battle in the rain. Raf was 3-2 up in both sets but I stayed composed and tried to play a varied game with lots of net approaches. Raf's lobs & movement were good as always but he has added some sharp forehands-down-the-line to his game, which kept things exciting. Over and out. "  -- Paul

Reveal CommentPaul Rubinstein bt Luca Spinazze' (Dec 1) 6-1, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Sometimes everything just works and this was easily one of the best tennis matches I have ever played. I barely hit an unforced errors and racked up tons of winners from both wings. Luca had won the majority of our previous encounters and has a great forehand and net game but this was one of those times that everything just came off for me. Will it last? Unlikely. Thanks for the match!"  -- Paul

Player Comments:

  • "Great day for tennis, it didn’t seem to be November at all, thanks for the game Raf and looking forward for the re match. "  -- Luca
Reveal CommentRaf O'Reilly bt Jonathan Waller (Nov 17) 6-1, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "An enjoyable match played in good spirits, in lovely sunny and crisp weather conditions. This was Jonathan's first competitive match for years, so I guess it was a pretty good time for me to play him! He showed great technique at times, with some incredible overhead volleys and some wonderful whipped cross court forehands, but ultimately his unforced error count cost him. Jonathan will become more consistent for sure as he gets more competitive tennis under his belt. I look forward to our next match."  -- Raf

Reveal CommentJohn Allen bt Joe Hellawell (Dec 22) 7-5, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "It was my lucky day winning the first set from 5-4 down and 40 love to Joe. I could not believe my luck and Joe possibly in shell shock faltered in the 2nd set making a lot more unforced errors which allowed me to win several games in a row. It was a tricky game for us both as we have similiar sytles with good ball placement but neither of us hit the ball very hard."  -- John
Reveal CommentJames Robjant bt Joe Hellawell (Dec 19) 6-1, 2-6, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Great game to play on a misty Sunday morning. Played some good tennis in the first set and then Joe stepped into action and started playing consistent and great passing shots in the second set. Some really good rallies throughout using the whole of the court. I found a little form in the third set to take what started to be a tense final set! Thank you very much Joe, hope to play you again soon!"  -- James

Reveal CommentJohn Allen bt James Robjant (Nov 30) 6-2, 2-6, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Very enjoyable tricky match with contrasting styles. I felt James played really well in the 2nd set which he won quite easily with his nice serve and volley game. He just did not quitemaintain that level in the third set and made a few more errors once he got behind."  -- John
Reveal CommentJohn Allen bt Michael Cowell (Nov 28) 6-3, 3-6, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "A war of attrition which took nearly 3 hours, both of of us were very consistant but did not have the big shots to dictate points from the baseline. I was lucky to win as nothing between us and Mike kept the presure up right to the end coming back from 5-2 down in the final set with many dueces in the last game. "  -- John
Reveal CommentDan Barnes bt James Robjant (Nov 24) 6-1, 6-3

Player Comments:

Able to get started by 7 and a very closely contested match all the way through with some long deuces along the way. Was fortunate to have a bit of form at the end to sneak the tie break but looking forward to finish what is likely to be a closely contested 3 set match."  -- Michael
