Player Comments:

  • "Very fast courts at jesmond lawn tennis. Lots of good rallies and kieran won the ace count by at least 4:1, but fortunately my ground strokes saw me home. Look forward to playing again "  -- Michael
Reveal CommentGavin Sked bt Michael Burke (Sep 17) 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (10-8)

Player Comments:

  • "A pleasure to meet and play Michael this morning. Michael comfortably won the first set playing some great and consistent tennis. The second set was very close with some long rallies but I managed to close it out in the end. I pulled ahead early in the third set but my serve let me down and Michael played really to draw level and then take the lead. Michael was very unlucky to double fault at match point as his serving had been good all match. Thankfully I managed to take the set to a tie break which like the rest of the match was very close. I missed two opportunities on my serve to win the match but eventually managed to win the next point on Michael’s serve and take the win. A great match and I look forward to playing you again."  -- Gavin
Reveal CommentMichael Burke bt Peter Mccue (Sep 17) 6-1, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Enjoyable game as ever, plenty of close games in first set after we both held serve early on. Some good rallies in second set too. Good luck in next few games Peter "  -- Michael
Reveal CommentJoseph Barton bt Chris Quince (Sep 13) 6-0, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Nice to catch up with Chris and play a fun match with plenty of long rallies. I fortunately played well in the 1st set to take it comfortably. 2nd set was different with the first 5 games incredibly hard fought and of a higher quality and all those 5 games could have gone either way with lots of deuces. After I emerged from that period of the match with a 4-1 lead I was able to breathe a bit more easily and see out the match "  -- Joseph
Reveal CommentJoseph Barton bt Kieran Cameron (Sep 12) 6-1, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "This match took place on the 2nd anniversary of Kieran starting playing tennis and it was the 3rd time we have played each other and Kieran is definitely improving each time. Kieran hit some powerful groundstrokes but fortunately I was able to win through greater consistency. Kieran changed his serving style late on and got some joy with some strong serves and I have no doubt Kieran will have improved again by the next time we play"  -- Joseph
Reveal CommentJoseph Barton bt Peter Mccue (Sep 12) 6-1, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "I always enjoy catching up with Peter and hearing about his sporting activities and trips around the North East. We had lots of long rallies with Peter making me earn the win. Both of us struggled to see the exhibition park lines so had to guess how hard to hit our shots throughout the match! Fortunately the lines at Gosforth Bohemians where we usually play are in the process of being repainted so although the court closures thwarted us today, we should have to guess less in future!"  -- Joseph
Reveal CommentMichael Burke bt Jonathan Greener (Sep 10) 6-2, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "A warm Sunday morning match! Start of game echoed a professional match with 2 holds of serve each, with Jonathan winning his first 7 points on serve. I got a crucial break at 3-2 and the set followed. Similar start to second set, but a break at 2-1 was crucial. Some good serves and forehand saw me home. Some excellent rallies and quite a few points when Jonathan well in control of points but couldn't quite capitalise. As always, look forward to our next meeting "  -- Michael
Reveal CommentPatrick Clark bt Rosie Armes (Sep 7) 6-2, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "Fun competitive game at exhibition park in warm conditions, I started off stronger, just hitting a few less errors in the first set and managed to take an early lead although the games were a lot closer than the scores suggests, second set Rosie found another level when 5-1 down brought it back to 5-5 with some excellent winners, I just managed to find a late break and see the game out, Rosie has a solid all round game and it was a thoroughly enjoyable match, good luck in the rest of your matches Rosie "  -- Patrick
Reveal CommentMichael Burke bt Chris Quince (Sep 6) 6-1, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "As ever an enjoyable game with Chris. Nice long rallies and I had to hit some of my best shots to win them. Pivotal moment was when i was leading 40 0 at 3-1. Chris then fired in a couple of aces (the only ones of match) and got to game point, but I recovered and a 4-1 lead proved decisive. A quicker second set, but frustratingly for Chris I managed to win most of games which were evenly poised at 30-30. Good luck in your next matches! "  -- Michael
Reveal CommentPatrick Clark bt Kieran Cameron (Sep 5) 6-1, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "First time at Jesmond club today and impressed with the pitches, really good game with Kieran, first set I had more form although a lot of the games were closer than score suggests, second set was really tough and both of us served well, I managed to pinch a break and saw it out, some lovely tennis player from Kieran who is a really good player, look forward to playing again, good luck Kieran"  -- Patrick
Reveal CommentChris Quince bt Peter Mccue (Sep 5) 7-5, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "A good match with many long competitive games. I felt on the back foot for much of it, starting out at 0-2. I managed to save two set points at 4-5 and kept with it to take the set through to 7-5. More long games with many deuces continued into the second set, but I managed to convert a decent number for 6-2. It’s always good to play against Peter and today was no exception. Never have I been made to play so many volleys in a single rally! "  -- Chris
Reveal CommentPatrick Clark bt Peter Mccue (Sep 3) 4-6, 7-5, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Bit of an epic today at Bohemians in perfect conditions, Peter was more consistent in the 1st set and hit some great winners to take a 1-0 lead, set 2 again was very close all the way through both of us holding serve until the last game I managed to find a late break, set 3 I found a little more consistency however the score line doesn’t reflect how tough the games were, almost every game went to Duce 3 or 4 times, all round great game that lasted over 2 and a half hours with some good tennis played from both, good luck in the rest of the games Peter and look forward to playing again "  -- Patrick
Reveal CommentMichael Burke bt Patrick Clark (Sep 2) 7-5, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "An early Sat morning start. A very competitive first set, in which Patrick led 5-4. Some really good rallies and great lobs from Patrick. I managed to grind out first set, and raced into 3-1 lead in second. Pivotal 5th game which after about 10 deuces I took for a 4-1 lead. Some consistent serves helped me get over the finish line. Really enjoyable match- good luck in your remaining games Patrick "  -- Michael
Reveal CommentJoseph Barton bt Jonathan Greener (Aug 31) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "A good day for me in a Gosforth Bohemians derby match"  -- Joseph
Reveal CommentGavin Sked bt Peter Mccue (Aug 29) 6-1, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "First time playing at the Bohemians club and I was impressed with the condition of the courts. The score line doesn’t reflect the fact that many of the games were quite close. A pleasure to meet Peter and I wish him well for his remaining games."  -- Gavin
Reveal CommentPatrick Clark bt Chris Quince (Aug 29) 6-4, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Great game at exhibition park tonight. Chris was solid throughout and hit some lovely winners, both forehand and backhand, his serve was on point all match too, I found some late form in set 1 to see it out, set 2 I hit a few less errors than set 1 and managed to take an early lead, Chris was unlucky with some shots at the net and I managed to get the favour of some long rallies, really enjoyable game all round, good luck for the rest of your matches Chris. "  -- Patrick
Chris Quince bt Jack Bridgewater (Aug 28) 6-1, 6-0
Reveal CommentGavin Sked bt Jonathan Greener (Aug 24) 6-3, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "A thoroughly enjoyable match played in the evening sunshine. Both sets were very close with many of the games going to deuce. If I play at Exhibition Park again I’ll know to bring some white paint for the lines! Best of luck Johnathan for your remaining games."  -- Gavin
Reveal CommentJonathan Greener bt Patrick Clark (Aug 23) 6-3, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Entertaining match played in nice conditions in Gosforth. Paddy started the better, racing to a 2-0 lead, but I recovered to win the next 5 games with improved consistency and sneaking a couple of deuce games, eventually winning the 1st set. Similar story in the 2nd set with some good rallies throughout. Paddy has a solid game but maybe just lacked a bit of consistency due to not playing for a couple of years. Good luck in n your next matches."  -- Jonathan
Reveal CommentPeter Mccue bt Mohammad Saad Khan (Aug 23) 6-1, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "After such a wet July and early August great to get 2 games in 2 days in decent weather . This was Saad'd first match in the Newcastle League and he has only been playing tennis for under a year . nevertheless a very enjoyable match played in excellent spirit and closer than the score suggests with some excellent long rallies Good luck in your other matches Saad"  -- Peter
Reveal CommentPeter Mccue bt Kieran Cameron (Aug 22) 6-0, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "It is a bit of a cliche on this site to say the score does not reflect the game but this was absolutely true in this match which was much much closer than the score suggests .There were lots of good rallies and some great points and virtually every game in the first set went to deuce which I was lucky enough to win . The pattern continued in the second set and ultimately the match in large part came down to me serving fewer double faults and winning the deuce games . On another day the outcome could have been very different. Always a pleasure to play Kieran and good luck with your other matches "  -- Peter
