Reveal CommentKishan Patel bt Joseph Barton (Sep 18) 6-2, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "An unexpected score line in this match given the previous matches played between Joey and I. I think I caught him on an off day and managed to catch the line a few times with winners. I was also guilty of the ball just edging over the net cord on two or three occasions. I expect Joey to come back with a vengeance against whoever he plays next, so watch out! "  -- Kishan
Reveal CommentKishan Patel bt James Gray (Sep 16) 6-2, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Good match between James and I on a Friday evening. James played a good aggressive game but was quite unlucky with some net cords. I was happy to win the match in two sets. Best of luck in the rest of your matches, hopefully they are all like this; friendly and sociable with no disputes."  -- Kishan
Reveal CommentKishan Patel bt Sandy Duncanson (Sep 11) 7-5, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "This was an incredible match against Sandy. A lot of attacking shots on display, some special shots to finish some great rallies. The first set was very long and tightly contested, it was clear this was a really good match-up. I raced to 5-0 in the second set, I think due to a combination of me being able to play free-flowing tennis and I was hitting a few shots into the corners! Sandy showed his grit and determination by making it very difficult for me to cross the line, there were many, many deuces in the last 2 service games which meant it took about 7 or 8 match points to clinch victory! Looking forward to playing Sandy again for sure."  -- Kishan
Reveal CommentDennis Van Kessel bt Monir Ahmed (Sep 2) 6-2, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Another long match with some very long rallies with Monir. A few small challenges about line calls and gameplay that we resolved, but a very good match all the way through!" -- Dennis
Reveal CommentSandy Duncanson bt Monir Ahmed (Aug 27) 5-7, 6-3, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "An epic battle against Monir lasting over 3 hours. Monir’s consistency earned him a well-deserved first set, 7-5. Luckily for me, Monir’s level dropped slightly in the second set which allowed me to take control of more points with my groundstrokes and level things up. A tense final set followed, and after a 20-minute long game which must have had 10 or 12 deuces, I managed to take it 6-4. Thanks for the game Monir."  -- Sandy

Player Comments:

  • "Very tight and competitive match. We were definitely closely matched and happy to sneak the last set as it seemed to be destined to go to a final set tie-break. Thanks for the game Vish. "  -- Adam
Reveal CommentVishwa Kumba bt Jonathan Greener (Sep 19) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "I had known Jon as a doubles player before, he is also trying to get into singles game just like me now. There were several games with deuces. Jon had some excellent shots. I only won half the points but the rest came from Jon's high unforced errors!. It was a good match and look forward to playing with Jon again."  -- Vishwa
Reveal CommentAdam Emson bt Peter McCue (Sep 17) 6-3, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "A really enjoyable first match in the league against Peter. Plenty of long, competitive games. Just managed to get over the line in the second set after being 0-40 down on serve. Nice way to start a bank holiday weekend, thanks Peter 👍🎾"  -- Adam
Reveal CommentJonathan Greener bt Matthew Deakin (Sep 17) 6-2, 5-7, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Tough match with a musical accompaniment in the 1st set thanks to a festival at Exhibition Park. Solid start to the 1st set by both players but I hit a winning streak at 1-2 to clinch it 6-2. 2nd set was a marathon with a number of deuces and Matt serving excellently and finally breaking me to clinch it. 3rd set much the same with the scores tied at 3-3. Matt then missed a few first serves which allowed me to sneak it 6-3. Phew. "  -- Jonathan
Reveal CommentChris Quince bt Jonathan Greener (Sep 10) 6-3, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "Conditions were a little wet which made things tricky but manageable. Jonathan played strong positive tennis to lead fairly quickly at 2-0. From there on the games were close and we were back on serve through to 4-3, where a handful of consistent points allowed me some momentum to wrap up the set. The second set continued in the same vain, with a mix of breaks and holds. A couple of points won on the back foot to clinch my service game for 4-4 felt crucial, before finding myself two set points down at 4-5, 15-40. Some stable points enabled me to get through the game before claiming the set at 7-5. Jonathan is always a tough opponent to play and pushed me throughout. "  -- Chris
Reveal CommentVishwa Kumba bt Peter McCue (Aug 29) 6-2, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "This was Vishwa's first ever match in the league though he has played club tennis for a number of years primarily doubles and he showed some of hi volleying skills in this match . However he adapted very quickly to singles play and won the first four games quite easily and I thought I was not going to manage to win a single game -though in the end the first set was 6-2 as was the second . A very enjoyable match with some good rallies and Vishwa was a deserved winner and am sure he will do well in the league and have some great - and much closer - matches against better players than me! Vishwa good luck with your remaining matches "  -- Peter
Reveal CommentChris Quince bt Matthew Deakin (Aug 29) 6-4, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Matt was playing solid tennis and with both of us keeping errors low, many of the rallies became very long. The first set remained close throughout; Matt moved a break-up at 3-2 before I managed to go a break ahead for 5-3. The second game of the second set was a marathon; when I was fortunate enough to clinch it, it helped me build some momentum for a 4-0 lead. Another enjoyable match had!"  -- Chris
Reveal CommentChris Quince bt Peter McCue (Aug 28) 6-2, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Peter started strongly and looked poised to lead 2-0. That second game became more of a fight and I managed to sneak it to even the score line. From there on the enjoyable and varied rallies ensued, with plenty of long games. On the whole I managed to play key points fairly well, particularly at deuce. Always great fun to play against Peter! "  -- Chris
