Player Comments:

  • "Great to see Peter again for what has turned out to be our annual match. Nice that Peter has also joined Gosforth Bohemians after we played our match at the club last winter. We were both pleased to get a match on as Peter had been injured and we had been thwarted by the snow and ice throughout December. As ever a good chat was had with Peter who seems to play a huge array of sports which all sound fun"  -- Joseph
Reveal CommentJoseph Barton bt Jonathan Greener (Nov 30) 6-2, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • " This was my 3rd match with Jonathan in the local tennis leagues and so far they’ve had 3 year gaps between them with the previous 2 in 2016+2019. We both struggled to hold serve with my serve particularly wayward due to it being very cold making it hard to throw the ball up properly with a freezing left hand! From 1-0 down I won 5 games in a row to take control of set 1 and win it 6-2. This was in spite of my poor serving and fortunately my ground strokes were flying for more winners than usual. I led set 2 4-0 before a late flurry of lovely volleys and sneaky slices brought Jonathan a deserved couple of games, with the set also finishing 6-2. Judging by our previous matches, see you in 2025 for another Gosforth Bohemians derby!"  -- Joseph
Reveal CommentLeonardo Bellucci bt Kieran Cameron (Nov 26) 6-0, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Fun game played on a cold November morning. Both Kieran and I struggled with our serves, but we had some really nice rallies. Kieran hit some great backhands which I couldn’t reach, but luckily I managed to keep the score under control. Have fun with your other matches!"  -- Leonardo
Reveal CommentJoseph Barton bt Ben Westerman (Nov 20) 6-1, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Fun first ever match with Ben - a good addition from the Sunderland league. The first 2 games were epic with numerous deuces but I managed to win them both despite being 40-0 down in the 2nd game. After that I got some momentum and consistency in the long rallies to take the set 6-1 despite lots of hard fought games. As expected Ben made the 2nd set much closer and there were numerous long rallies with some amazing chasing from Ben to salvage some points when I thought I had won them. The key game was when Ben had 6 break points to take a 4-2 lead but I hung on to my serve to make it 3-3. A few more tiring rallies and lengthy games followed and I was relieved that I managed to edge it 6-4 and avoid a decider in increasingly windy conditions"  -- Joseph
Reveal CommentVishwa Kumba bt Leonardo Bellucci (Nov 20) 6-1, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "It had rained a little bit in the morning, was typical November cold weather, the used tennis balls seemed heavier than ever. We played for an hour or so. Leo struggled to return my serves, there were a couple of good rallies, otherwise an easy, straight forward match for me. "  -- Vishwa
Reveal CommentBen Westerman bt Vishwa Kumba (Nov 15) 6-3, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "I took a 2-0 40-0 lead in the first set but then Vish came back strongly until we found ourselves at 3-3 with most games going to deuce. I was able to get a decisive break and hold out for 6-3 despite some excellent net play and drop shots from Vish. The second set had lots of momentum swings, so much so that I completely lost track of the score (I thought I was 3-4 down but Vish insisted it was 4-4). I had to play some very aggressive tennis to finally wrestle the set and win 6-4 as time was running out on the floodlights! Thanks for a very enjoyable match, Vish, it was a pleasure and I wish you all the best in your remaining matches."  -- Ben
Reveal CommentJonathan Greener bt Kieran Cameron (Nov 14) 6-1, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Enjoyable match played in decent Nov weather. Relatively straightforward 1st set but a few deuce games in the 2nd which I managed to sneak."  -- Jonathan
Reveal CommentJoseph Barton bt Vishwa Kumba (Nov 6) 6-1, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Enjoyable first ever meeting with Vish. First few games were pretty epic including me saving 5 game points to win the very first game of the match. I got the first hold of the match to take a 3-1 lead and after that managed to get control of the match. Long rallies throughout the match though and lots of deuces meant it was fun and the scoreline is definitely harsh on Vish who produced some nice angled serves and rallied well from the back of the court. Looking forward to some future encounters against each other"  -- Joseph
