Player Comments:

  • "Chris and I had played a good match with quite a few exciting rallies. I had a lead early on but Chris held his nerves incredible well and never gave up. The noises of the classes around us and the pressure of people waiting for the court made it very close but at the end he yet to find the rhyme against my service game and that’s how it was decided."  -- Jeremy
Jack Trattles bt Joseph Barton (Oct 7) 6-2, 6-1
Reveal CommentJoseph Barton bt Jeremy Kwan (Sep 27) 6-0, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Enjoyable first ever match with Jeremy, who played some great shots at times, particularly when volleying. Fortunately I had a greater level of consistency from the back of the court and managed to claim the victory"  -- Joseph
Reveal CommentKishan Patel bt Joseph Barton (Sep 22) 6-4, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "A good match against Joey in difficult conditions. The wind made playing from one end very different to the other! A slightly different brand of tennis was played and this resulted in both sets staying close until the end. "  -- Kishan
Reveal CommentJoseph Barton bt Chris Quince (Sep 21) 6-3, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "A much longer match than the scoreline suggests. It was a few years since Chris and I had played but I don't think the style of the match was any different to last time. Epic rallies and a huge amount of games which went to deuce. First set only had 1 break of serve which I gained in the 4th game of the set. Not sure why serve was so dominant as neither of us were whacking down 150mph aces! Chris won the 1st game of the second set and had chances to go ahead 2-1. Fortunately I managed to win most of the big points in the 2nd set despite Chris continuing to battle right until the end of the match. Good luck to Chris for future matches, and good luck to the legs of the players playing Chris with all the running!"  -- Joseph
Reveal CommentKishan Patel bt Richard Stephenson (Sep 18) 6-0, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "A match of two halves against Richard. He wasn’t at the top of his game in the first set and I was playing well to start with. I was 3-0 up in the second set before Richard seem to find the right gear and bring it back to 3-3. Next was my service game which ended up being crucial as it went to deuce and I held on to win it. Had I lost it I think that would’ve been a big momentum shift to Richard. I closed out the set and won the match. Best of luck for the rest of your matches. "  -- Kishan
Jack Trattles bt Matthew Moffat (Sep 16) 6-1, 6-1
Reveal CommentJoseph Barton bt Matthew Moffat (Sep 15) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "An enjoyable match in superb tennis conditions. Not quite sure what happened, as everything I hit seemed to go where I intended for once, if only I could play like this every match! Nice to play against Matthew again before he heads off to university, best of luck to you "  -- Joseph

Match of the Group:

Reveal CommentRichard Stephenson bt Chris Quince (Sep 15) 6-0, 5-7, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Always a tough game when playing Chris seems to battle and grind out a lot of games, first set was fairly straight forward as my attacking approach was paying off winning plenty of long exhausting rallies, second set I lost my way with Chris grinding it out to take it 7-5, third set I found my second wind and went back to more attacking play which eventually paid off winning the third 6-2! Great game and good luck with the rest of your games Chris ?"  -- Richard
Reveal CommentKishan Patel bt Matthew Moffat (Sep 12) 6-2, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "This was another match full of attacking shots in which I was able to just stay ahead of Matt who took a lot of the service games to deuce. There were plenty of winner across both sets and I’d struggle to pick a favourite from today’s match!"  -- Kishan
Reveal CommentChris Quince bt Matthew Moffat (Sep 11) 4-6, 6-3, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "The surface, weather and Matt’s strong pace of shot made it really difficult for me to play with any kind of rhythm, but also made for an interesting match. With close games I got a break for 3-1 but we were soon back on serve and a poor service game from me at 4-5 quickly sealed the first set for Matt at 6-4. Trying my best to hang in there, the second set stayed even (with breaks) until midway through, when I felt I could draw out some longer points with a little more consistency, and grab some needed games for 6-3. That consistency carried through to a 4-0 lead in the third, but I had to keep defending to the very end. Matt is a strong player with a number of aces and winners sent passed me; I wish him well for his remaining matches. "  -- Chris
Reveal CommentRyan Dray bt Jeremy Kwan (Sep 9) 6-2, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Excellent game which finished before the light finally went. Jermery was a tough opponent with wonderful passing shots and a real dangerous serve. The first set I think Jermery was just getting the feel of the court however the second set he took a strong lead and it took me playing at my very best to comeback from 3-1 down to draw and then a lucky break allowed me to take the match. With more match play Jeremy will be a excellent player and I look forward to more matches in the future!"  -- Ryan
Reveal CommentJack Trattles bt Kishan Patel (Sep 9) 6-2, 3-6, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Fantastic match to be involved in with many of momentum swings throughout, Kishan played a great match, could of gone either way but happy to win the final point! "  -- Jack
Reveal CommentRyan Dray bt Matthew Moffat (Sep 7) 6-4, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "A great match played under the warm and then darkening exhibition park. The first set was extremely cagey with the score after 30 minutes 2-2 eventually I managed to get the break to take the first set. The second set although went in my favour had lots of long rallies and a couple of brilliant serves by Matthew. A great match to play - all the best for your future matches Matthew!"  -- Ryan
Reveal CommentKishan Patel bt Chris Quince (Sep 7) 6-3, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Chris and I had a good match on what was a very hot day! Luckily we played in the evening and it wasn’t quite as hot as it was earlier on in the day. Anyone who has played Chris knows there will always be long rallies and today was no exception, both of us busting a gut to chase everything down in this heat meant it was a gruelling match. Fortunately it was over in 2 sets as I fear a third would’ve completely drained me! Best of luck in the remaining matches Chris."  -- Kishan
Jack Trattles bt Ryan Dray (Sep 5) 6-0, 6-0
Reveal CommentMichael Burke bt Chris Quince (Sep 3) 6-3, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "I raced into a 4 0 lead in first set, mixture of me playing my best tennis and Chris being a bit rusty having not played for a while. After that- very even. Chris had break point at 4-2 but I then played my best three points of match and went on to win the set. Second set was a break a thon. Only hold of serve occurred at 5-4. Both of us were returning well- often better the serve, better the return. Really enjoyable game as always- and the first time I've edged it after losing previous games to Chris in 3 set marathons! Good luck for rest of the round "  -- Michael
Reveal CommentKishan Patel bt Michael Burke (Aug 31) 6-0, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "This was truly a match of two halves. I was hitting a lot in the first set and with Michael off the boil I was able to take advantage to win the first set. Michael found his mojo in the second set but perhaps just a little too late as I was able to keep just enough distance between us on the scoreboard! Best of luck for your remaining matches Michael."  -- Kishan
Reveal CommentMatthew Moffat bt Jeremy Kwan (Aug 28) 6-1, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "First set started tentative for both of us, but more errors from Jeremy meant I was able to take the first set. The second set was very different as we both gained confidence and some great rallies were played out, but more errors from my side and good volleys from Jeremy meant it was much closer towards the end of the match. We agreed that match practice was key to improving both of our games and with that I look forward to playing again in the future. Thanks Jeremy. "  -- Matthew
Reveal CommentKishan Patel bt Jeremy Kwan (Aug 26) 6-1, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Jeremy and I played a good match with some decent rallies which included some booming forehands, lovely drop shots and excellent lobs. A bit more match practice meant I had the edge in this match (along with a bit of luck with the net cord)! Jeremy is a good player and I expect a very tough match once he gets more match practice under his belt. He is a fantastic addition to our league, best of luck for your remaining matches."  -- Kishan

Player Comments:

  • "As the nights are drawing in we had the luxury of playing a rare indoor match. Michael's just started playing tennis again so understandably a bit rusty. 1st set was closer than the score suggests with me winning a couple of deuce games. 2nd set not as close tho Michael did find some rhythm on his 1st serve. Good match overall played in the right spirit. "  -- Jonathan
Reveal CommentPeter McCue bt Marius Guraliuc (Sep 21) 6-1, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "I have played Marius a few times outside the league but this is his first entry into it -he had been away on holiday for a few weeks and had not played much in a while and was a little rusty - however he did some cracking serves and some excellent points and close games but ultimately I managed to close the match out - as always an enjoyable match in late summer sunshine and good luck with your remaining games Marius and hope you enjoy the league!!"  -- Peter
Reveal CommentChris Murtagh bt Michael Carling (Sep 20) 6-2, 1-6, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Great to meet Michael. After a long wait for a court we finally got going at 7pm with the light fading and gusty conditions. The games were played at a lightening pace and we completed 3 sets in 44mins! Michael hit a purple patch on serve in the second and I didn’t get to touch the ball for most of the set. All the best for the next games Michael! "  -- Chris

Match of the Group:

Reveal CommentJonathan Greener bt Peter McCue (Sep 6) 6-3, 3-6, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Tight match played in humid conditions. Error strewn 1st set which I managed to close out with a run of 4 straight games. I raced into a 2-0 lead in the 2nd set but Peter stormed back to take it with some impressive error free tennis. At this point my volleys were endangering passers by. Nip and tuck 3rd set which I clinched after finally finding some consistency. Phew. "  -- Jonathan
