Congratulations to everyone in Round 2 at the AELTC for making the daytime league so popular already! We had three groups this time with lots of new faces, including lots of new female players which is really encouraging! Over half the possible matches were played, which is a great start so keep spreading the word and encouraging people to join. We've seen some excellent tennis and some really close matches with plenty of deuces, tie-breaks and 3-setters to keep it competitive! We look forward to seeing some of these battles re-played in the next round as well as lots of new rivalries established, sign up now to take part!

Group Summary:

Flavio continues his great start in the league taking top spot again and with some great score lines, although I'm sure some of them were much closer than the score suggests. Louise takes the runner-up position this time with 2 wins and her bonus points making the difference. Well played everyone! Julian's battle with Babak was undoubtedly the match of the group with the closest score line we saw this round, winning the second set tie-break 8-6. We look forward to hearing about the re-match next time!

Group Summary:

Plenty of superb tennis played in Group 2 this time, and lots of three-set matches and tie-breaks, it really was a close battle for everyone! Congratulations to Ken for taking first place, with 4 wins, narrowly edging ahead of Amar with 3; their head-to-head looked like a great 3-setter and lovely to see it was played "in a fun and good sportsmanship manner", like so many of the other matches. This sounds like it was a great group to be a part of! Well done also to Tim for saving 5 match points against Elizabeth in a great battle, no doubt one to be resumed in the next round! Well played everyone, some great matches and great sportsmanship - just what LTL is all about!

Really great to play without the need of a line judge!!! Thanks for the backhand tips and best of luck with the rest of your matches..."  -- Amar

  • "Wow, a humdinger of a match which I was lucky to survive as Elizabeth was playing so well. I had to save five match points at 5/3 down in the second set, and I think that slightly relaxed me and I started to find my net game which had eluded me in the first part of the match. Thanks Elizabeth for a great battle and also inviting me to play at the David Lloyd club. "  -- Tim

Group Summary:

Congratulations to Naeem for taking first place with three wins and Kate finishing a close runner-up with two. Unfortunately our top two didn't get to play each other, so there's another battle to save for a another day. Sophie looked to be giving Naeem a challenge before their match was stopped at 2-2 in the third. Looks there will be plenty of good tennis to come next time they meet! Gill and Evelyn had a super battle in the sunshine with lots of deuces and long rallies, sounds like this was a perfect afternoon of tennis! We look forward to seeing you all again in the next round for more tennis, and maybe more sunshine?
