Player Comments:

  • "A great tight match, with lots of good rallies and Chris’s tricky spinny serve to deal with. Just about managed to edge the tie break but perhaps got a bit lucky as Chris’s back went towards the end of the first set and he had to concede the rest. Hopefully we’ll get to play again soon. "  -- Sara

Player Comments:

  • "After I'd managed to hold serve in the first game, the second game lasted about 10 minutes with numerous deuces. I was lucky enough to win that game and afterwards the momentum slipped away from Chris and we ended up with a scoreline that really doesn't reflect the relative strength of our games. It will be much closer next time. Thanks for the match Chris."  -- Ian

Player Comments:

Match of the Group:

Reveal CommentIan Hancock bt David Salisbury (Jul 22) 5-7, 6-1, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Five minutes into the match, 3-0 down and with David serving and hitting very strongly, I was contemplating my second double bagel defeat in the Barnes League. Kindly David eased up a bit and the match became more competitive. David eventually won a long first set. The second and third sets were power (David) vs steady (me) and steady just won out. A really fun game and after 2 hours and 20 minutes of play I am aching everywhere. Good luck to David in his remaining matches, he is a very welcome newcomer to this league."  -- Ian
