  • "Brilliant meeting Ed this evening. We had a extremely competitive and enjoyable match in some lovely conditions at Stratton Park. The match was close throughout and we both had spells where we won a few games in a row, but in the first two sets, neither of us was really able to get properly ahead. The third set however was a different affair... Ed started extremely well and raced into a 5-1 lead, I was able to somehow hang in and claw my way back and eventually won 7-5! We were both in a shock at the end as to the shift in momentum over the last 20 mins of the set, but I think we both really enjoyed the match. Thanks for a brilliant match Ed, and I look forward to playing you again in the future."  -- Chris

Player Comments:

  • "A very nice (if chilly) evening's play against Antony tonight. We've been playing together as part of a wider group for a while now and although we've only played singles competitively a couple of times, its clear how much he's improved. There were some excellent rallies throughout the match, and the score in our first set is not a fair reflection of the closeness of the match. I happened to get the better of the longer exchanges earlier on, but Antony adjusted well and the second set was a closer affair (on the court and in the scoreline). Well played Antony, and good luck in your other matches. I'm sure we'll play each other plenty more times in the future."  -- Chris

  • "Really nice to meet Hazel today and we had an enjoyable afternoon in some rather blustery conditions!! As Hazel has only recently restarted playing tennis, there was a bit of an experience gap between us, but while we were playing (and especially when we were having a hit afterwards), I could really see her improving which was great to see. Thanks for the match Hazel, and hope to see you again soon."  -- Chris

Player Comments:

  • "Thanks for the match Joe, and it was very nice to meet you. A bit of a mismatch of playing experiences with Joe being relatively new to competitive tennis, and me being a more veteran player, but an enjoyable evening all round. All the best for your other matches, and hope to play again soon."  -- Chris
