Player Comments:

  • "Excellent and close game with Oliver who is a real competitor and a true sports person. Good friendly game that I was lucky to win on this occasion. Oliver has a fantastic forehand and great flat serve and covers the court really well. Lucky escape for me, hope my luck holds up next time!"  -- Julian
Reveal CommentGiles Pocock bt Richard Morris (Nov 3) 6-0, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "If I’m honest, this was one of those strange games where Richard was clearly having an off day, whilst I was having a very “on” day. An enjoyable match but I can’t see me repeating this score the next time we play! "  -- Giles
Reveal CommentJulian Mitchell bt Richard Morris (Oct 29) 6-1, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Great game indoors at excel with some tough rallies. Some great winners from Richard from his backhand and good rallying forehand kept me on my toes! All good fun!"  -- Julian
Reveal CommentOliver Millett bt Giles Pocock (Oct 27) 6-4, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Giles set out from the warm up to make a dent in this encounter as per his last match. Boringly the one service break was all that was needed to capture the opening set. Not playing well and with my doppelgänger smashing the ball all over the shop, I decided to park the bus. Regardless of Giles being ahead 40 love up in the first five games he could not buy the set let alone a ticket to ride on the two double deckers, double parked firmly on my side of the baseline. Some of it was luck but to survive punishment dished out by Giles added to being part of a great shootout once again! Great match up played in pleasurable entertaining sportsmanship! "  -- Oliver
Reveal CommentGiles Pocock bt Alastair Matthews (Oct 11) 6-3, 4-6, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Another very competitive, see-saw match between us. A nervy final two-sets but a very enjoyable match overall. "  -- Giles
Reveal CommentDavid Ash bt Giles Pocock (Oct 5) 6-2, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "A thoroughly enjoyable match, played in good spirits. It certainly didn't feel like a 2 and 2 match and I think I also benefitted from this being Giles first match back from injury. I am certain he will be very competitive in his remaining matches. Thanks for the game Giles! "  -- David
Reveal CommentDavid Ash bt Richard Morris (Sep 29) 6-3, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Enjoyable match with Richard today. There were a number of long, close games, many of which could well have gone the other way and made for a much closer match than the score suggests. Thanks Richard."  -- David
Reveal CommentOliver Millett bt Alastair Matthews (Sep 29) 6-3, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "For the past two weeks, Alastair had his eye on adding me to his highlight reel as he has ploughed through nearly all of his matches. Sunday in beautiful Bath, had a storm brewing. Booking the indoor bubble was the only option. There was a high-level junior tournament was being played but the early booking was allowed through. I gave myself a nice shampoo and shave, followed by a light salmon lunch. Strolled in to Victoria Park to the awaiting confident Alastair. The match played in a cagey fashion as Alastair had a new game plan with cunning tactics to close out his service game. The match remained uneventful as well as straightforward by just one service break closed out both sets. A well played match, in excellent sporting spirits."  -- Oliver
Giles Pocock bt Omurchadu Ghiassi (Sep 28) Walkover
Reveal CommentJulian Mitchell bt David Ash (Sep 25) 7-5, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Great game with David who played a good tactical first set narrowly losing but it could easily have gone the other way. Second set was played on clay which proved to be a bit slippery for David allowing me to win 6/1 in another close battle. Lots of rallies over out two hour game!"  -- Julian
Reveal CommentAlastair Matthews bt Richard Morris (Sep 22) 7-6 (7-4), 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Great match, the first set lasted an hour and 20 mins, very hot in the indoor bubble, so hot I needed a medicinal ice cream to recover!"  -- Alastair
David Ash bt Omurchadu Ghiassi (Sep 21) Walkover
Reveal CommentAlastair Matthews bt Omurchadu Ghiassi (Sep 14) 6-2, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "Fun match with really hot weather! "  -- Alastair
Reveal CommentJulian Mitchell bt Alastair Matthews (Sep 14) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Great conditions for a local leagues match in Bath. Great venue, great weather and friendly opponent. Alastair is a super chap, only been playing for three years but what potential! Really relaxed swing which is key to making great shots with power and spin. Alistair won the knock up and hit great backhand and forehand’s that whizzed away into the corners leaving me thinking that perhaps at my time of life I should be playing crown green bowls! However when we got into the match I got all the luck! Even my bad shots hit the net and dribbled over. Great start to the league and s well contested match with many close games. I don’t think it will be long before Alastair gets his own back! "  -- Julian
Reveal CommentDavid Ash bt Alastair Matthews (Sep 13) 6-2, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Enjoyed the game with Alastair today although the Sun was really distracting for both of us at one end of the court. Alastair was also struggling with his grip a little bit. Despite this there were some really good rallies and shot-making. A pleasing victory to start the round. "  -- David
