Vertical Tabs

This is how it works:

  • Players are organised into groups of up to 8 people of a similar standard
  • Contact details are emailed
  • Players arrange their own matches
  • It is a mixed sex, singles league, so men and women play each other
  • You can play on any court that suits both players

The league is:

  • For everybody!
  • We welcome beginners as well as advanced players.
  • Don't worry that you won't be good enough - playing matches is the best way to improve, and we use an online questionnaire to assess people's ability so you play only people of a roughly similar level
  • Affiliated to the LTA For adults aged 18 years and above

Key points

  • Matches are best of three sets; if a set reaches 6 games all it is decided by a tiebreak
  • The evening before the round starts you will receive an email with all the contact details of the players in your group
  • Players are placed in groups according to past performance in the league and, for new players, their Player Standard Questionnaire
  • Each player attempts to play each of the other player on their group once during the round
  • If you complete three matches before the midpoint of a round you receive 2 bonus points and a bonus prize (either a pair of Local Tennis Leagues dampeners, or a tube of tennis balls).
  • The winner of the group is the player with the most points at the end of the round
  • The winner of the group wins a certificate and tennis prizes
  • Where possible, winners of groups are promoted to the group above for the next round.

Getting started

New players will need to complete the player questionnaire before they can join a round. Once you’ve signed up, and for returning players you can join any of the upcoming rounds above.

For everything you need to know before you get started see the FAQs and review the Rules and Regulations, which all players agree to adhere to when playing in the leagues.

If there is anything else you need help with get in contact with Nigel, Sally and the team who will be happy to help!

Thanks for all your help with the league. Am really enjoying it

Eamonn Cowley

After not playing tennis for over 24 years it has been most refreshing to play in the Bexley Parks Tennis League against Brian, Joe, Paul, Eamonn, and Cvetan. I believe this is a fantastic way to get back into tennis. Well done to Bexley  Parks Tennis League for organising this

Fred North

It was a most enjoyable round, not just because the results went my way, but everyone in the league cooperated fully in arranging the matches and all the matches were played in an excellent spirit

Roy Dinnis

Thoroughly enjoyable and met some nice people to knock up with in future,

David Williams

Reveal CommentJonathan Opaye-Tetteh bt Richard Dixon (Jun 10) 7-5, 4-6, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "A close and entertaining match, with lots of long rallies. First 2 sets were extremely close and I managed to close out a tiring final set. Well played Richard."  -- Jonathan
Reveal CommentRichard Dixon bt Jason Greenwood (Jun 9) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Jason posed a threat with his serves and produced some sizzling groundstrokes. He misfired from time to time but at least three games went to deuce. I produced a solid display with good consistent serves. Thanks Jason."  -- Richard
Reveal CommentFelix Watkins bt Velimir Micic (Jun 5) 6-0, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "A match very low in quality. The first set was a precession for Felix. Rather than relax and start to find his range, he suffered a huge let down in the second set and found himself trailing 1-4. Fortunately he managed to scrap his way back in to the set and won a couple of close games along the way to win in 2. But what a mighty struggle!"  -- Felix
Reveal CommentFelix Watkins bt Jason Greenwood (Jun 3) 6-3, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Felix won for the loss of just three games despite being below his best. Some nervous, tentative tennis early on allowed Jason to get in to the match. Felix improved a bit as the match wore on but was still flattered by the 6-0 second set score line. "  -- Felix
Reveal CommentSam Coombes bt Velimir Micic (Jun 3) 6-0, 6-0

  • "A fun and enjoyable game. Good chat about mountaineering and adventuring across Bosnia and Croatia at the end of the game."  -- Sam
Reveal CommentRichard Dixon bt James Fernandes (Jun 3) 6-1, 6-2

Reveal CommentFelix Watkins bt Jonathan Opaye-Tetteh (Jun 2) 6-1, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "A competitive match which Felix managed to win in 2 sets. The first set was probably higher quality with Felix showing the greater consistency. Jon has a dangerous forehand but can sometimes misfire with it. Second set was a struggle for Felix who was just happy to get the job done in 2. Thanks again Jon!"  -- Felix
Reveal CommentRichard Dixon bt Velimir Micic (Jun 2) 6-1, 6-0

Reveal CommentVelimir Micic bt Jason Greenwood (May 20) 6-3, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "A good match played at Danson Park. First few games went with serve, before I managed to break Roy's serve, hold on to mine and see out the set. Roy played good aggressive tennis in the 2nd set and we had lots of close games. In the end I managed to stay consistent and get over the line. Lots of interesting sport chats throughout too. Really good to meet you Roy, and good luck for the rest of the League."  -- Antonio

  • "This was a tightly contested match which, because of bad light, had to be resumed three days later for completion. Ifreke's lobs and drop shots were always a threat and might well have won the day but for the break in proceedings resulting in the final set being played in entirely different conditions," -- Roy
