Vertical Tabs

This is how it works:

  • Players are organised into groups of up to 8 people of a similar standard
  • Contact details are emailed
  • Players arrange their own matches
  • It is a mixed sex, singles league, so men and women play each other
  • You can play on any court that suits both players

The league is:

  • For everybody!
  • We welcome beginners as well as advanced players.
  • Don't worry that you won't be good enough - playing matches is the best way to improve, and we use an online questionnaire to assess people's ability so you play only people of a roughly similar level
  • Affiliated to the LTA For adults aged 18 years and above

Key points

  • Matches are best of three sets; if a set reaches 6 games all it is decided by a tiebreak
  • The evening before the round starts you will receive an email with all the contact details of the players in your group
  • Players are placed in groups according to past performance in the league and, for new players, their Player Standard Questionnaire
  • Each player attempts to play each of the other player on their group once during the round
  • If you complete three matches before the midpoint of a round you receive 2 bonus points and a bonus prize (either a pair of Local Tennis Leagues dampeners, or a tube of tennis balls).
  • The winner of the group is the player with the most points at the end of the round
  • The winner of the group wins a certificate and tennis prizes
  • Where possible, winners of groups are promoted to the group above for the next round.

Getting started

New players will need to complete the player questionnaire before they can join a round. Once you’ve signed up, and for returning players you can join any of the upcoming rounds above.

For everything you need to know before you get started see the FAQs and review the Rules and Regulations, which all players agree to adhere to when playing in the leagues.

If there is anything else you need help with get in contact with Nigel, Sally and the team who will be happy to help!

Player Comments:

  • "The first set could have gone either way and indeed Pawel led for much of it. The second set became a bit of a lottery as the wind got stronger, and basically I managed to steer the ball away from Pawel enough of the time (who otherwise was getting everything back, and with pace) to get the win. A close, enjoyable game - thanks Pawel."  -- Paul

Player Comments:

  • "Sacha started the match really strong. Fair play to him after a long time out. He served really well up to 4-4 making it really difficult for me to get rhythm on the return. He then let me in with a couple of double faults helping me to get the break. After that I focused on being really consistent to keep the momentum on my side. I got a break early in the 2nd set and was able to keep myself in front until the end. Really enjoyable match. Great to be out playing in decent weather for a change!"  -- James
Reveal CommentJames Janowski bt Jacques Le Bars (Feb 9) 6-2, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Lucky to get this one played due to wet and windy conditions. I had to be alert at all times because if I gave Jacques half a chance he punished me with some good slice and lobs. I kept a consistent level throughout most of the match which gave me the win."  -- James
Reveal CommentJames Janowski bt Omid Parsanejad (Feb 4) 6-1, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Some great rallies in this match in the morning sun. I couldn't get going in the first set and was finding it difficult to hold serve and eventually lost the set. In the second I managed to find my rhythm and range which helped me to close out the set and similarly in the final set where I think my match fitness was enough to see out the set. Thanks for the match Nick!"  -- Robert
Reveal CommentRobert Wright bt Antonio Russo (Feb 18) 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "In the first set I was not at the races, even though we traded games till the tie-breaker that Antonio duely took. The second set started to go away from me and I had to dig deep and focus otherwise the set and match could have gone to Antonio. But I found my rhythm and was able to win the set and I was able to take this momentum into the 3rd set. Thanks for the match Antonio."  --Robert

Reveal CommentMohit Baheti bt Antonio Russo (Feb 15) 4-6, 6-3, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "What an amazing game it was - full of twists and turns!! I was losing 0-4 in first but then managed to make a comeback. Unfortunately, it was a bit late for me and Antonio won the set. I was able to win the second set easily but third set was exhausting and went for over an hour. Almost every game went for deuce. I was again losing 3-5 in last set but was able to win next 4 games to win the match. It was such a close match that even till the last point, no one could have predicted the winner. It is always so much fun to play with Antonio!"  -- Mohit
Reveal CommentAntonio Russo bt Paul Green (Feb 11) 6-2, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "A good game played in sunny but very windy conditions. We traded games in the first set before I took the first set and got into a rhythm into the second set. Paul came back strongly in the second set but I just managed to see it through. I got a bit lucky with 3 net chords today as well!! Thanks for the game Paul and well played."  -- Antonio
Robert Wright bt Ben Romney (Feb 11) 6-0, 6-0
Reveal CommentRobert Wright bt Thomas Howe (Feb 10) 6-4, 1-6, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "A very enjoyable game that swung one way then the other. Thomas has a great first serve which was difficult to contend with at times, especially with the wind. In the first set I raced into a 3 games leads but Thomas fought back and I managed to see it out 6-4. The second set Thomas raced into a 3 games lead, though I pulled one back I wasn't able to get back into the set and Thomas deservedly took the set. In the final set I managed to refocus and was able to see it out. Great match Thomas and look forward to playing you again in warmer weather!"  -- Robert

Player Comments:

  • "The game was played in bitterly cold conditions with a bit of wind that took some getting used to. I raced ahead in the first set but Paul came back at Mr and I held on to take the set. The second set was similar to the first but this time I made sure to see it out. Thanks for the game Paul"  -- Robert
Tom Whitehouse bt Robert Wright (Jan 28) 6-0, 6-0

  • "A nice game played at Petts Wood tennis courts. The first set was much closer than the score suggests, with a lot for crucial deuce games. I got into an early lead and then saw it through to take the set. Second set was very even. I got a vital break in the middle of the set and managed to serve it out. Well played Ben and good luck for the rest of the round."  -- Antonio
