An excellent opening round for the Bromley Doubles league with 80% of matches played and lots of close competition throughout the three groups - thanks for your efforts in making this success. Well done to the new group champions and we hope to see you all next time for more of the same throughout the Autumn!
Group Summary:
Hats off to Andrew & Oliver and Desigan & Nicholas whose incredible 7-6, 6-7, 6-4 encounter appears first on the highlight reel of this well contested group. There was an exciting race for the gold too with Jean-Michel & Gregory and Steven & Kai both securing an impressive four wins and bonus points to finish level at the top. It therefore all comes down to the match between the two and it was Jean-Michel & Gregory who stepped it up a gear to win a couple of hard fought sets and clinch the title.

- "This was an emotional contest and it had nothing to do with the tennis being played. First, we met at Old Dunstonians to play but we were unable to get into the courts as both Taf and Sue's fobs wouldn't work (definitely get that looked into OD) Undeterred we drove to Wickham Park to start and complete the match. The match was played in good spirits even though the next court lost all common sense and decided to have a chat right next to our court during my service game... The most emotional bit of this tale however was when I returned to my car I had picked up a flat tyre. It took us 1hour to even get the tyre off but it was a proud moment when we finally replaced the flat tyre with the spare! I hope next time it isn't as eventful..." -- Steven

Group Summary:
A round of applause to you all for playing every match - great stuff. Vivek & Alan were unstoppable in this round, winning five out of five to put themselves in with a chance of the prize.. Lee & Chris were the only pair to perfect their scheduling skills and with four wins under their belt too they made it a two horse race for the title. In the end it all came down to their head to head, the last match of the round and this was a fiiting finale. Vivek & Alan held their nerve to win the match tiebreak, but crucially Lee & Chris won a set which gives them the extra point they needed to steel ahead into the lead.

Group Summary:
Congratulations to Alev & Debbie who produced a strong display of doubles to win both of the matches they played and top the table. The rest of the group finished tied on two points apiece, so we had to do some number crunching to determine the runner up. After bonus points are removed and sets conceded considered, we are left with Chris & Amanda and Graham & Will in the battle for second. Both pairs recorded a 6-1 6-0 victory, so a toss of a coin decides positions - well done to Chris & Amanda who are the lucky duo this time. A special mention to the two Rebecca's who got on court for more matches than anyone else.
