It was great to have an extra group in this round of Cambridge Tennis League helped in part by welcoming 9 new players to the league! Participation levels were high too with nearly three quarters of all possible matches played and lots of match commentaries, so a great effort everyone! Fantastic to see friendly, competitive tennis return to Cambridge's courts and we hope to see you back for more in the next round!
Group Summary:
It was a successful return to league action for Daniel who was in fine form to win 5 matches and top the group 2 points clear of runner up Rohan on 3 match wins. Hats off to Daniel and Hamish who endured a "3.5-hour mammoth match in the 30+ degree heat" and we hope Daniel did find an ice bath to recover in! Credit to Liam too for battling hard in his 5 matches and making life difficult for his opponents, taking the fight to Daniel in a close second set and making Rohan and Viktor go the distance in 3 sets... hopefully better luck next time!

It was tight at the top of Group 2 with Leagues debutant Sergio and returning Leaguer Jake both earning 14 points, so Sergio's win in their head to head sealed top spot. Rasmus made Sergio work hardest for his win, taking the group champ to a second set tiebreak but Sergio held his nerve. Well done to Jake for being the only player to schedule all 8 matches and achieve 5 match wins, while Charles and Angelica had 4 wins apiece. There were lots of contenders for 'Match of the Group' too... great tennis!

This was a well contested group with most of you playing at least 5 matches and everyone earning midway bonus points for match scheduling. Congratulations to Merissa for taking the group crown on her return to league action, winning an impressive 7 matches to finish 2 points clear of runner up Apostolos. Christopher and Richard had strong rounds too, with Richard inflicting Merissa's only defeat in a close 3 setter. Sun and heat were the backdrop to Matt and Christopher's nailbiting 3 set wins over Tom and Andrew respectively meaning they were tests of endurance as well as tennis skills!

It was neck and neck at the top of Group 4 with Ashley and Dominic earning 12 points apiece however top spot went to Ashley thanks to a convincing win in their head to head. Ashley was undefeated in 6 matches and didn't drop a set either while Dominic had to work hard to win in 3 sets against Liam and Huw, the latter match being "a bit of an epic". Liam recorded a battling win of his own against Karolina with both matches finally being settled in third set tiebreaks.
