Reveal CommentIvan Fabijanic bt Richard Woodnorth (Dec 28) 3-6, 6-4, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "This was a different kind of match, a battle of the first serves! I couldn't return any of Richard's as they just zoomed next to me or bounced of my racket in all directions, but rarely into the opposite part of the court. Richard returned some of mine, but we were both chasing our chances on the second serve, but even then the longest rally was 5 shots. With only a few breaks of serve this one was down to the very fine margins. Thanks Richard for a great match! "  -- Ivan

Match of the Group:

Reveal CommentIvan Fabijanic bt Belal Bareets (Dec 22) 6-7 (9-11), 6-3, [10-8]

Player Comments:

  • "What an epic match today. This was the finest of margins deciding. The first set took 1h 10min and it went to a tiebreak which initially looked like it will go on forever. We both had set points, and kept saving them, but eventually Belal managed to win it. The 2nd set was close again with a lot of deuces, and I took it with a single break of serve. Then, due to the time limitations, we played a championship tiebreak which again was very close, with the lead going from Belal to me and back again, never mor ethan a single point, but I managed to close it. Some excellent exchanges, and points worth TV coverage :-) Thanks Belal - I'm sure we will meet again!"  -- Ivan
  • "An epic game could have gone either way, had the chances to wrap it up! Not bad for my second attempt on fake clay. The service lines were a bit tricky. Ivan played with brilliant sportsmanship. I did enjoy playing him, I’m sure we meet soon hopefully on hard/gravel. It might 'come home' next round !" -- Belal

Player Comments:

  • "The match wasn’t meant to be played today, as he was leaving said that today was the last chance, it was rushed and terrible conditions that weren’t forecasted. Not a big fan playing with lights. The weather and conditions decided the match for me one the worst I played. Although James is a decent player. Looking forward playing him in the summer!" -- Belal
