Once a favourite with Jane Austen, Sydney Gardens is one of Britain’s best remaining Georgian Pleasure Gardens. It opened in 1795 and is a short walk from the town centre, situated behind the Holburne Museum.
It has secured funding for a major refurbishment.
There are 5 tennis courts in the park, grouped in two locations. The top two courts are in relatively good condition but the lower 3 courts are in poor condition.
The courts will be open throughout 2019. From January 2020, many areas, including all the tennis courts, will be closed for periods for refurbishment. By the Autumn of 2019, there will be a detailed timetable of works and the impact court closures. All the courts will reopen following refurbishment in 2021.
The tennis courts are free to use
