Collapse AllCraiglockhart, Edinburgh Singles - Round 43 | Thursday 30 July 2020 to Wednesday 23 September 2020 (Midpoint: Wednesday 26 August 2020)

It was good to welcome 4 new players to the league alongside our regulars and returners and we're so pleased the round was able to run to completion again this time! Collectively you played four fifths of all possible matches which shows how keen you were to get back on court and there were lots of close and exciting scorelines. Thanks for supporting your local league and we hope to see you back in action in the next round!

Group Summary:

Well done all of you for completing your matches and congratulations to Pedrog for topping the group by combining winning 3 matches with midway bonus points for early match scheduling. He had a fight on his hands against Radoslav though with both players "trading the lead throughout the second set" while his match with John was a "real war of attrition" eventually settled by a match tiebreak... great tennis!

Player Comments:

  • "A two hour match of two differing sets, with each on a different court chance would have it, and so closely contested through out only a breaker could determine the result! Started in evening daylight and finished under the floodlights, we even appeared to have a socially distanced audience at one stage, certainly not what we were expecting, but added additional drama as the scoreline unfolded.. Many thanks for the match Pedrog, was a pleasure to play, and I genuinely felt like the result could have gone either way, very much a coin toss occasion. I also hope the tweak sustained to your leg is superficial one, and heals up pronto! Thanks again and hope to catch up soon."  -- Neil

Michael's usual very strong forehand shot was a bit out of sorts for the first couple of sets (and he was at the end with awkward low sun) during which time I got a couple of sets on the board, but then we played on and it was a much more reflective one-all for the next two sets."  -- Alex
