Player Comments:

  • "Really enjoyable and very close game with Sean yesterday at Bathgate. Both of us found it a challenge to hold serve with some good returning (and a few double faults from my side as well). Score really tells the story - match easily could have gone either way with the tie break proving just as tight as the two previous sets. Great fun, thanks for another fun match Sean."  -- Tom

Player Comments:

  • "The environment really suited my game here. Indoors at David Lloyds, with a new can of Dunlop Fort balls. I felt I had more control than usual which gave confidence to go for the shots I wanted to, and it was absolutely necessary as Mary has a great game that proved a tough challenge. My serve got me out of a few jams here, but the key game was when I saved three set points in a row in the second set and took it to another tie-break. My champions tiebreak record in the local tennis league is abysmal (lost 9 out of 10) so I was very glad to avoid that. Overall it was a very tight matchup and hope we can play again sometime. Thanks for the game Mary, and the guest pass :-). "  -- Michael

  • "Good game played in very difficult, windy conditions with the ball ending up in lots of unexpected spots. After a very good second set by Alastair I just managed a win in the tie break but the match could have gone either way. Thanks for the game Alastair. "  -- Mary

Player Comments:

  • "Had a great match with Ronnie, he made a very good use of his skill at volleying to win several points. Won the first set, but I was able to make adjustments to win the second and third sets. We both struggled with sun shine on one end of the court and wind, but we had a good game. "  -- Adekunle

Player Comments:

  • "Very enjoyable Friday evening game with Ronnie at an empty Craiglockhart! Ronnie is a gent on court and I really enjoyed the way he played with his long classical strokes. The match was keenly contested and once again came down to our UE count. I probably limited my UE's a bit more and had a few free points on my serve. Ronnie is a doubles supremo and managed to pull off at least 4 or 5 stunning stop volleys at the net, along with some cracking smashes. Thanks for the game Ronnie, hope to play you again soon"  -- Alex

  • "This was a lot of fun and became really exciting towards the climax. Lots of variety and good rallies. Ade was struggling with footing which disrupted his game but it didn’t stop it being a thrilling encounter. The run of games was quite crazy. I lost the first two games then won the next six to take the first set. I then lost nine of the next ten games. So many of the games are going to multiple deuces. In the third set I was down 5-2 but kept fighting and somehow managed to get the win. What a thriller. Looking forward to playing Ade again. "  -- Michael

Player Comments:

  • "Fantastic game with Ade this evening. We had been in contact trying to arrange for the past few days but due to scheduling issues, we decided to attempt a fast 4 game at Craiglockhart. Ade has recently started playing tennis (during the pandemic) but you'd never know. He posses a very strong forehand and a powerful serve. The first set was flattering for me as Ade was getting used to the pace of the courts and the new balls. Second set was more representative of the match. Very close with Ade pipping it after I hit a few UE's. We had to pause during a championship tie break (in lieu of the final set) -- Alex"  -- Alex

  • "Michael and I don't do boring matches and today was another exciting match up. The venue was the outdoor Clay courts of Craiglockhart and after going with serve for a couple of games Michael made the decisive break and took the set. In the second set I tightened up my service game massively and gave me the confidence to break Michael and take the set. In the end it came down to a Championship Tie break (again) and I managed to take the form of my service through to the tie break and take it 10 -6. The match had it all, aces from both players, clean winners from both players and some fantastic lobs and deft drop shots! Unfortunately it also had it's fair share of Unforced Errors. All good fun on a Sunday evening, thanks Michael! Best of luck"  -- Alex

  • "Excellent Match this evening with Alastair. Very even match that could have gone either way to be honest. I sneaked first set on tie break and Alastair came back well in the second. The tiebreak was a little rushed as we running out of time and the lights started to go off! However I managed to squeak it again. I wish Alastair the best of luck in his remaining matches "  -- Alex
