There was a small spat of rain in the middle of the first set which eased up after a few minutes, but left the court a little bit slippery making the conditions slightly challenging. Reveal CommentJames Doak bt Chris Parkes (Sep 21) 6-1, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "An enjoyable match played on the hard courts at Darley Fields. Chris had great speed around the court and a powerful first serve and I don’t think I won a point when it landed in. When serving for the first set, a couple of double faults from me gave Chris the lifeline of a break of serve. Luckily I was able to break back with a few winners to seal the set and then fired off several aces in the second at crucial moments to close out the match . Thank you for the match today and good luck with the rest of your matches. "  -- James

We managed to get to 3-0 in the second set before we had to retreat to the clubhouse for shelter from the torrential rain. Thankfully it soon passed and even brightened up enough to have a friendly knock after the competition of the match. Good luck with the rest of the group David. "  -- James
