Player Comments:
- "A very cautious and tight game" -- Roland
Player Comments:
- "Very enjoyable game - second set was very much in the balance and had it gone Lloyd's way could well have been a different result" -- Joe
Player Comments:
- "Thanks for an enjoyable match in wet and windy conditions. It was a very even match with some long rallies and variety of shots by both of us. Would like to have a rematch in the next few weeks." -- Lloyd
Player Comments:
- "Extremely close first set, which could have been a tie break if not for an untimely double fault by Lloyd. Tricky conditions with the gusts of wind, the sun getting ever increasingly in the eyes at one end of the court and the slippery white lines. Lloyd definitely won the shots of the match - just wish they could have been witnessed by others. A nice smashing of balls afterwards with some decent rallying. Enjoy Bath and good luck with the next matches Lloyd." -- Stephen
Player Comments:
- "Very enjoyable game. Every set was far closer than the scores suggest " -- Joe
Player Comments:
- "Really fun game played on a slippy court that made for some very challenging points and unusual winners! Look forward to a rematch sometime soon!" -- Rupert
Player Comments:
- "A match that truly ebbed and flowed. Joe surged into the lead in both sets and I somehow managed to claw my way back. Had some lovely classical rallies with chips and slices and lots of attempted drop shots. Joe has an extensive repertoire of shots and made some of the put away points look very easy indeed. Very enjoyable match and warmed up throughout the evening. Good luck Joe for the remaining matches." -- Stephen
Player Comments:
- "We were lucky to avoid the rain and played a closer match than the score suggests. Thanks for making the trip to Ladywell, good luck for the rest of your matches" -- Rupert
Player Comments:
- "A beautiful sunny winter morning but that low sun made for a very challenging game! Much closer than the scoreline suggests, and some strange points with one player blinded! Played in good spirit and at a great venue - thanks Joe" -- Rupert
Player Comments:
- "Thanks for organising the venue Diana. Very competitive first set against the lady who gets pretty much everything back despite the chilly and windy conditions. A very nice flat and hard forehand, crosscourt and down the line. We had a good few lung bursting (for me anyway) points that were enjoyable winning or losing. Thanks for the rallying afterwards. Good luck with the next matches." -- Stephen
Player Comments:
- "As always a very close match between us with me taking an early lead in each set and Joe each time reeling me in. On the day I was a bit more consistent, but who knows which it will go next time. " -- Mark
Player Comments:
- "Despite the rain and the wind, we had a very enjoyable match this morning. Thanks Joe and good luck for the rest of the league!" -- Caetano
Player Comments:
- "The score line does not give a true picture of how the game went. Rupert did not have his best match and seemed to be warming up as time went on as we played afterwards. Many shots were hitting the top of the net and on another day would have gone over. We still did have some really nice rallies. Thanks for making the journey to Norbury and good luck for the rest of the league." -- Stephen
Match of the Group:
Reveal CommentRupert Duff bt Caetano Borio (Nov 8) 7-6 (12-10), 4-6, 6-4Player Comments:
- "A real battle played over a couple of days - the first set alone took up our entire 2 hour slot! Very enjoyable game - look forward to meeting again!" -- Rupert
Player Comments:
- "Very enjoyable match against Mark which had a 3 week intermission between playing the majority of the match and completing it. From memory we had many epic, lung bursting points three weeks ago which left this little old poor body shattered for the next couple of days. Mark has a wonderful whipping topspin crosscourt forehand, which was extremely hard to get back into court. We also had a nice hit after the official game finished today. Hope we get to play many more games in the future as even points lost were fun to play." -- Stephen
Player Comments:
- "A much closer game that the score suggests with lots of long games and really long rallies. A really enjoyable and competitive match." -- Mark
Player Comments:
- "Cheers for making the trip down Roland. Very impressed with your speed around the court and the consistency of your serve. We both struggled a little with all round consistency and putting away the easy shots. Good luck for the rest of the league." -- Stephen
Player Comments:
- "Fun match on a very cold but beautifully sunny morning! " -- Rupert
Player Comments:
- "Always a good competitive match with Roland, but was let down a bit by inconsistency on this occasion. " -- Mark
Player Comments:
- "Thanks Caetano for coming at short notice and dealing with the sun in the eye and windy conditions. If you had played the way you did with the rallies afterwards then am pretty sure the match would have been yours. Good luck for the rest of the tournament. P.S. Very nice topsin on your forehand. " -- Stephen
