Match Results:

Reveal CommentKenneth Lindsay bt James Morrison (Aug 8) 3-6, 6-4, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "Cracking game of tennis James. Shot of the day was when James got on the end of my wee dink over the net. He ran full pelt from behind the baseline and somehow dunked it back just inside the line. Then amazingly he pulled on the breaks to avoid crashing into the net which to me seemed inevitable. Unbelievable! Olympic world-beating tennis etcetera, etcetera... I'm hoping I got the score right (such a long match). So close was a shame there had to be the one winner today."  -- Kenneth

Match of the Group:

Reveal CommentNathan Connelly bt Aidan Brogan (Aug 4) 7-6 (7-0), 2-6, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Probably the most exhausting match I've ever played in! It's really tough to hit through Aidan consistently as his court coverage and deep shots are great, I had to change up the way I played which meant a lot of the points were extremely long rallies. By the end of the first set I was completely knackered but somehow managed to stay in it and win it at the end. Well played Aidan on a great round also and look forward to playing some other great matches in the future! "  -- Nathan
Reveal CommentNathan Connelly bt Darren Pake (Aug 2) 6-3, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Tough match today against Darren, it was closer than the score suggests with lots of long points and games. I think the main difference between us was the big points as I managed to save numerous game and break points and also convert break points when I had the chance. Still a very good match, well played mate, look forward to our next one! "  -- Nathan
Reveal CommentAidan Brogan bt Darren Pake (Aug 1) 7-6 (7-4), 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Well played today Darren, that 1st set could have went either way some great rallies and amazing defensive plays from you, I think I benefitted from such a long first set as Darren's slight drop in energy allowed me to attack more comfortably and get in the net to finish off points or use drop shots which I haven't done for a long time to get a quick lead in the 2nd set, thanks for the fun match and good luck with your last one. . "  -- Aidan
Reveal CommentMugurel Chirica bt Kenneth Lindsay (Jul 24) 6-1, 7-6 (7-2)

Player Comments:

  • "Great match with Kenny, it was a competitive second set with a lot of nice rallied and defensive turned to offensive points. I wasn't able to finish it with 3 match points (or he didn't want to let me) so we had to go to the tie breaker. Good luck with your last match Kenny!"  -- Mugurel
Reveal CommentDarren Pake bt James Morrison (Jul 19) 6-2, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Impossible to concentrate fully on the match tonight as not long before leaving I was floored by the shocking and abhorrent news of vaccine passports being introduced in Great Britain, in a democratic society. Really!! Still always a pleasure playing James and lots of nice rallies, I won a lot of points at the net but could have played better from the back of the court. Good luck rest of the round James"  -- Darren
Reveal CommentPaul Mudie bt Kenneth Lindsay (Jul 17) 6-1, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "My match against Kenny has turned out to be my last match of the campaign. Given this, I would like to thank everyone for their sportsmanship, camaraderie and humility. If one could formulate a mathematical model for this campaign it would be: sportsmanship + camaraderie + humility = an outstanding campaign. Thank you, gents." -- Paul
Reveal CommentMugurel Chirica bt James Morrison (Jul 17) 6-0, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Great playing with James today, perfect day for tennis save a bit of wind. My serve was working well today so that didn't give him that many opportunities but we had a fun match. Good luck with the rest of the matches James."  -- Mugurel
Reveal CommentAidan Brogan bt James Morrison (Jul 14) 6-0, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Well played James, some really good rallies throughout the match, you did really well to make a come back in the second set, those lobs really starting working near the end. Thanks for the match. "  -- Aidan
Reveal CommentNathan Connelly bt James Morrison (Jul 14) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Great to meet you James! The match was good fun with plenty of deuce games and some nice shots from both of us! "  -- Nathan
Reveal CommentAidan Brogan bt Kenneth Lindsay (Jul 14) 6-2, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Well played today Kenny, some great shots from you, especially that jumping smash definitely the highlight of the match, good luck with the rest of your matches. "  -- Aidan
Reveal CommentDarren Pake bt Mugurel Chirica (Jul 13) 6-3, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Great match with Bud tonight who played very well including some big serving. A couple of aces sent down and a few more serves I couldn't neutralise to get back in court. I was also forced into some errors with Bud approaching the net a few times but I also hit some nice passing shots and I played solid from the back of the court. A fun match. Well played and good luck the rest of the round"  -- Darren
  • "Great match with Darren today. I was serving really well but most of the balls were still coming back in play which I was not happy about 😂. During most of the clutch moments Darren was playing really well and there was nothing I could do about it. Good luck with your next matches Darren." -- Mugurel
Reveal CommentDarren Pake bt Kenneth Lindsay (Jul 7) 6-2, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "I managed to swing it with reception to get Kenny into David Lloyds with a guest pass so much different playing a match indoors in stifling conditions. I raced ahead in both sets with Kenny clawing games back in both. My movement / ball retrieval was on form today which always helps my game but also managed to land lots of shots near the baseline and a bit more pace added in. Some great rallies in there today, well played Kenny "  -- Darren
  • "Thanks Darren for fixing it to play at David Lloyd. Much better for me recovering from injury and just love playing on the nice soft carpet. Was hard going being indoors with the heat mind you. You played some great angles today which is a killer on fast those fast courts. Really enjoyed it and well played. The day tennis died. Federer out of Wimbledon! Will that be the end?" -- Kenneth
Reveal CommentNathan Connelly bt Paul Mudie (Jul 2) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Nice match today Paul, had some great rallies throughout! Well played mate! "  -- Nathan
Reveal CommentDarren Pake bt Brad Smith (Jul 2) 6-1, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Very clean match from me today we had some great rallies but my consistency got me the win in the end. Good luck the rest of your matches Brad"  -- Darren
Reveal CommentAidan Brogan bt Mugurel Chirica (Jul 1) 6-0, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Great play from Aidan, too good. Unfortunately I didn't see any of his his no-look-backhand-volley down the line, but maybe next time. Good luck with the other matches!"  -- Mugurel
Reveal CommentNathan Connelly bt Mugurel Chirica (Jun 29) 6-0, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Well played today Bud, some brilliant serves I struggled to return. Thanks for the game today and good luck with your remaining matches! "  -- Nathan
  • "Perfect sunny day for tennis today, and the match was great. Nathan played too well to get more than 1 game, a lot of winners on his part but the ones that really bothered me were the many amazing backhand passing shots, some of them down the line Wawrinka style. Good luck with your other matches Nathan!" -- Mugurel
Reveal CommentPaul Mudie bt Mugurel Chirica (Jun 28) 7-5, 1-6, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "The court was really slippy the first two sets. It did, however, dry off in the 3rd set. As we all know playing on a wet court is a disaster. The moral of the story is that a dry court makes a huge difference to one's game." -- Paul
  • "This was an interesting match with Paul. Pretty close in the first set and I was playing better in the second and was about to run away with the match, but the mental game wasn't there, I left something get to my head and I couldn't play well at all in the last. Best practice for the mental game are actual matches, that's the main reason I love this tennis league, so many different people with their styles and during a match most of the time we both want to win." -- Mugurel
Reveal CommentNathan Connelly bt Kenneth Lindsay (Jun 28) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Really fun match today Kenny. Some great rallies throughout, you were unlucky not to win a few games! Good luck with the rest of your matches! "  -- Nathan
Reveal CommentMugurel Chirica bt Brad Smith (Jun 27) 6-1, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Great match with Brad, it was way closer than the score suggests with many deuces and some great rallies, with both of us coming to the net to finish things off. The pre-match was also eventful, starting with a guy that was a bit too bold and loud with us and didn't want to leave the court, saying I'll leave the court whenever I want even though we had it booked. He was with 3 women (probably why the boldness) and were camped 1 meter from the tram line and the baseline, not sure how they expected to dodge a 90mph flat serve out wide coming to their faces or a 6'3 20stone guy running for a ball and probably not being able to stop. That's why I love these matches, we always have tons of fun."  -- Mugurel
Darren Pake bt Paul Mudie (Jun 26) 6-0, 6-2
Paul Mudie bt James Morrison (Jun 19) 6-1, 6-2
Aidan Brogan bt Paul Mudie (Jun 18) 6-0, 6-0
