  • "Although there were only 18 games, the match took over 2 hours. Tyrell and I were very evenly matched and had similar playing styles which led to some very long games and even longer rallies! Probably no exaggeration to say average rally must have been close to 20 shots. Match could have easily gone either way and the fact Tyrell had played the day before may have been the deciding factor."  -- Ian

Then I started playing much better and I managed to win the set 6-3 and get a break on the second! But then Umar improved his game and beat me bad on the second set with 6-1. Finally on the last set he was up by a break but in the end by playing a bit more safe I managed to win 6-2. Thank you Umar for the great game! Looking forward for our next battle!!! 😉"  -- Perrakis

Match Results:

Reveal CommentHong Giap Teo bt Ruth Evans (Jul 17) 3-6, 6-0, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "This was a very competitive match played under tough condition in scorching hot and sunny weather. Although I was 3-1 up in the first set, Ruth started playing very aggressively hitting some amazing forehand shots and quickly ran off with 5 games in a row to take the set 6-3. The momentum changed in the second set in my favour when I was able to get back into the rhythm serving and hitting the balls more consistently to take the set 6-0. The third set was much tighter and I am glad to win this epic match. Thank you Ruth for a really enjoyable game."  -- Hong Giap
  • "As usual, against Hong, this was a fiercely fought, exhausting match with many long and varied rallies. Hong's consistency, superior drop shots and backhand won the day. Well played Hong and thank you for a great match." -- Ruth
Reveal CommentRichard Randle bt Sam Bossman (Jul 15) 6-3, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "The scoreline makes it look far more one-sided than it actually was. Sam was much the better player until 3-3 in the first set, when I managed to win a few consecutive games and served better. I am sure the score would be very different if we play again, which I hope we will do in the future. Thanks for the game, Sam."  -- Richard
  • " Too good Richard! Well played." -- Sam
Reveal CommentRichard Randle bt Rob Starling (Jul 14) 6-1, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "The scoreline didn't necessarily reflect the match itself as Rob hit some superb shots. I was fairly consistent but he hit the two shots of the match: a second serve ace which hit the inside of the line and swerved away then a fantastic cross court return off a first serve. With more match play, Rob would be a very strong opponent. Thanks for the game!"  -- Richard

Player Comments:

Thanks for the game, Hong."  -- Richard
