Reveal CommentRichard Randle bt Tom Bird (Sep 20) 3-6, 6-1, [10-5]

Player Comments:

  • "A high quality match with lots of good points and long rallies. I made a strong start before Tom won 6 games in a row to take the first set. I improved in the second while Tom's level dropped slightly. We then realised that we wouldn't have time to complete a full third set so agreed to play a tie break, which I was able to win. Another excellent match."  -- Richard
Reveal CommentSam Bossman bt Saishankar Swaminathan (Sep 18) 7-5, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "In the first set, we played backwards tennis! With a single hold of serve deciding it. In the second I led 5-2 before Sai mounted a brilliant comeback, swinging freely, to then pull it back before I was able to take it 7-5. Great to meet Sai and great tussle. "  -- Sam
Reveal CommentRichard Randle bt Saishankar Swaminathan (Sep 17) 6-1, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Enjoyable game. Sai was inconsistent but hit some superb shots and a couple of aces. Clearly a better player than the score suggests. Thanks for the game and our friendly third set in the autumn sunshine. "  -- Richard
Reveal CommentTom Bird bt James Cumming (Sep 12) 7-6 (7-4), 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Excellent game with James played indoors in perfect conditions, felt like we both played well this evening. Very enjoyable. "  -- Tom
Reveal CommentRichard Randle bt Tosin Adenuga (Sep 11) 6-3, 3-6, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "A great match! Our third time playing each other but the first between us on artificial clay at Moseley Tennis Club. I enjoy playing on the surface and played a good first set. Tosin got an early lead in the second and deservedly won it. I was able to start the third set well and was 4-0 up when we had to switch to the hard courts. A great battle and I look forward to the next!"  -- Richard
Sam Bossman bt Michael Smith (Sep 6) Walkover
Reveal CommentAllan Macalino bt Sam Bossman (Sep 5) 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Allan is an incredibly skillful player and our match lasted for about 3 hours with some incredible shots from both sides. I definitely hit one of the best shots i've ever hit to bring up set point in the second set tiebreak. However, my serve was a bit Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and Allan was able to stay solid when it mattered. Thanks for a great match, Allan!" -- Sam
Reveal CommentJames Cumming bt Richard Randle (Sep 5) 6-3, 7-6 (7-2)

Player Comments:

  • "Great game as always, end to end stuff... some cracking rallies. "  -- James
Reveal CommentRichard Randle bt Sam Bossman (Sep 2) 6-3, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Second time playing Sam and a similar scoreline to our first match. That doesn't tell the whole story though as Sam started very well and was 3-1 up in the first set. The slippery courts made movement difficult but he was playing the better tennis. I was then able to be more consistent and win the match. Thanks for another good game!"  -- Richard

Reveal CommentJohn Hewett bt Jayant Vishal (Oct 8) 6-2, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "Was lovely to meet Jayant and play tennis on a fine sunny October afternoon. We moved courts part way through to get a less muddy court. We worked together with a broken flowerpot and leaves and twigs to get rid of the mud, which definitely made an improvement! Jayant played well, and at the start I thought it wasn't going to be my day. The first set was partly decided on who could deal best with the slidey patches and not be put off by them and was closer than the scoreline suggests. The second set was close with breaks of serve going both ways and some great rallies as we could fully focus on the tennis with only rare interventions from the court (weird bounce on leaves). Look forward to playing again."  -- John
Jayant Vishal bt Andrei Nitoi (Oct 6) 6-2, 6-2
Reveal CommentRuth Evans bt Olukayode Adewuyi (Oct 2) 6-4, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "It was good to meet Kay. We had a very competive match with epic rallies. I think i edged it with my dropshots, which were going over the net today. Thanks for a great game."  -- Ruth
Reveal CommentJonathan Winspeare bt Ruth Evans (Oct 1) 6-1, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "My second time playing Ruth and another enjoyable match. Ruth is a tough opponent who gives her all on every point. The first set I played very well and took the first set comfortably. The second set Ruth upped her game and definitely threatened a come back at 5-3 making me work really hard to serve out the match. Great match and great opponent, I hope for another game in the future."  -- Jonathan
Reveal CommentOlukayode Adewuyi bt Mohamed Marei (Oct 1) 6-1, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Good game with Mohamed today. Pushed me at times but I think his strings were giving him a bit of trouble hence the score not reflecting this. Look forward to a hit with him soon!"  -- Olukayode
Reveal CommentRuth Evans bt Madii Hussain (Sep 29) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Good to meet you Madii and thanks for the match and knock-around after. Good luck with the rest of your matches."  -- Ruth
Reveal CommentRuth Evans bt Mohamed Marei (Sep 25) 6-4, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "An tough but enjoyable game against Mohamed. He is a great tactical player with some killer drop shots and aces - I'm sure I had to do more running! - but his error rate must have ben higher than mine today. Thanks for the game, Mohamed"  -- Ruth
Reveal CommentJohn Hewett bt Madii Hussain (Sep 14) 6-2, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Lovely to meet Madii today on a warm Sunny autumn day. The first set was fairly straightforward for me, 6-1, but it seems I underestimated Madii in the second set with some nice return-of-serve winners coming my way and some breaks of serve going both ways, but I got one more break in the end."  -- John
Jonathan Winspeare bt Madii Hussain (Sep 14) 6-1, 6-1
Reveal CommentJonathan Winspeare bt Mohamed Marei (Sep 11) 6-1, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "First time meeting mo today. We had a good game with some very good rallies. Mo has a good serve and very good backhand, with a bit more consistency on these shots I think he will be hard to beat in the future. Good luck with your next matches."  -- Jonathan
Reveal CommentJonathan Winspeare bt John Hewett (Sep 10) 6-2, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "After my last encounter with Jon which lasted 3 hours I was definitely anticipating another tough match. Jon made a slow start to the match allowing me to win the first set quite comfortably to my relief. The second set looked done and dusted at 5-2 and match point but Jon had other plans. Jon started to find his rhythm and made me pay bringing the score back to 5-5. I managed to break Jon and landed some big first serves in the final game. Jon made me work for every point in that game and luckily it didn't go to a third as I think he might of had me... Look forward to our next match."  -- Jonathan
Reveal CommentJohn Hewett bt Andrei Nitoi (Sep 8) 6-7 (3-7), 6-0, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "I didn't get off to the best start; I arrived without my racket and had to go back and get it (sorry about that Andrei!). Asides from that hiccup this was an enjoyable match which could have gone either way, with several changes in the momentum of the match at key stages. The first set was quite tight, with lots of breaks of serve but the scoreline remaining tight and it had to be settled by a tie break in the end, which Andrei won comfortably. I channeled my aggression in the second match and really hit the ground running, 6-0. I was hoping for the same in the final set, but Andrei had other ideas and really upped his game. In the end I managed to get one more break of serve than him to win the match. Look forward to playing again."  -- John
Reveal CommentJohn Hewett bt Mohamed Marei (Sep 7) 6-3, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Was lovely to meet Mohamed, we ended up chatting quite a bit as we waited for several different heavy rain showers to pass, at the café in the MAC and then later sheltering under the roof the mini golf hut. We went back onto the court whenever the rain stopped or slowed, and managed to complete the match, accompanied by occasional rumbles of thunder and flashes of lightning. In the second set Mohamed staged a great comeback from 4-0 back to 4-3, but it wasn't enough on the day. Mohamed played well, perhaps his serve let him down at times with double faults letting me off the hook. We had some great rallies despite the wet conditions. Look forward to playing again."  -- John
Reveal CommentRuth Evans bt John Hewett (Sep 2) 7-5, 6-3

Player Comments:
