Reveal CommentRichard Randle bt Andrei Nitoi (Dec 10) 6-0, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Enjoyable game as we braved the cold this afternoon. Lots of good points played and an enjoyable further two friendly sets after the match was finished. Fortunately the frost had melted on court so we were able to play but the low sun made it difficult. A good game against a really nice guy. Thanks for the game."  -- Richard
Gergo Jahni bt Madii Hussain (Dec 5) 6-3, 6-1
Reveal CommentRichard Randle bt Jonathan Kinsey (Dec 4) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Great to meet Jon today and we had an enjoyable game. I always enjoy playing at The Priory so thanks to Jon for booking it. Despite the cold weather and slippery court, we had a really good match and some rallies afterwards, in which Jon showed how well he can hit the ball. I have no doubt that he will continue to improve and I look forward to playing him again soon. Thanks for the game."  -- Richard
Richard Randle bt Gergo Jahni (Dec 3) Walkover
Reveal CommentRuth Evans bt Andrei Nitoi (Dec 3) 6-4, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "This is the 2nd time I've played Andrei and, as expected, it was a close match with many long, elaborate rallies. Andrei is very good tactically and frequently managed to get my 'winning' shots back - but, hey, Andrei, try coming to the net once in a while, it won't bite! ; ) Thanks for the game."  -- Ruth
Reveal CommentHong Giap Teo bt Navneet Sumal (Dec 3) 6-4, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Navneet is a very competitive player and can hit very well from both his forehand and his backhand. He was also very effective at the net today. I was immediately put under scoreboard pressure at the start of the match trailing 0-3. As the match progressed however, I was able to play with more consistency to turn the first set around to win it. We had many long games and great rallies in this very close match, that could have gone either way. Thank you Navneet for a really enjoyable match and looking forward to playing you again soon."  -- Hong Giap
Reveal CommentHong Giap Teo bt Gergo Jahni (Dec 2) 6-2, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Match was played in a bitterly cold morning. Gergo has a forehand which I have found quite difficult to read sometimes. His height allowed him to easily reach and return a lot of shots. His serves were very consistent throughout the match and there were no free points given away here. There were many rallies which I was able to hang on for a bit longer. Overall, this was an enjoyable and competitive match. Thank you Gergo and hope to play with you again soon."  -- Hong Giap
Reveal CommentEldin Basic bt Jonathan Kinsey (Nov 30) 6-1, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Enjoyable night and match with Jonathan at Priory Club. Despite damp conditions and slightly slippery court, some decent points were played. Jonathan is a good and keen player who will improve with the time. He has a good forehand and decent backhand with very quick feet. His serve needs improvement though and has let him down on most points. Looking forward to our next game."  -- Eldin
Reveal CommentRichard Randle bt Ruth Evans (Nov 27) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Ruth is a strong, consistent and steady tennis player who made me work hard today. At few games went to deuce and there were many long rallies. We then played for an additional half an hour after the game and again, there were some excellent shots played. A really enjoyable morning of tennis. Thanks, Ruth."  -- Richard
Reveal CommentHong Giap Teo bt Jonathan Kinsey (Nov 27) 6-1, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "It was lovely to meet and play Jon today for the first time. Jon has very good forehand technique which he can hit with pace and power. He was unfortunate to narrowly miss some of his shots at key points today. The scores do not reflect some very good and long rallies we had in the match. Thank you Jon and looking forward to playing with you again soon. "  -- Hong Giap
Reveal CommentRichard Randle bt Navneet Sumal (Nov 26) 6-1, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "A harsh scoreline against a strong tennis player. Navneet hit some excellent shots and we had good rallies but I was more consistent and found a few forehand winners. Very enjoyable game on a surprisingly pleasant Saturday morning in November."  -- Richard
Reveal CommentRuth Evans bt Madii Hussain (Nov 25) 6-0, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "The 1st set was quite one-sided but Madi put up more of a fight in the 2nd and we had some enjoyable long rallies. Madi has a good variety of shots, is not afraid to come to the net and hit some winning lobs. Thanks for the game."  -- Ruth
Reveal CommentEldin Basic bt Navneet Sumal (Nov 24) 6-0, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Navneet is a competitive player with good serve and cheeky forehands. Weather with gusts of wind and later a drizzle did not really help any of us. He was let down with some doubke faults and lack of practice. "  -- Eldin
Reveal CommentHong Giap Teo bt Ruth Evans (Nov 20) 6-3, 4-6, [10-6]

Player Comments:

  • "Those who have played Ruth before will know that she is an extremely competitive player and will fight till the last point in every match. Having played against Ruth on several occasions now, I came into this match today mentally prepared for a long match with long rallies and be ready for a 3rd set decider, and this was indeed how the match panned out. Ruth was superb at the net today hitting a number of winners. Due to the lack of time, we had to play a 10-point tie-break for the 3rd set decider. A few unforced errors from Ruth in the early part of the tie-break allowed me to lead with a good margin which I was able to hold on to till the end of the match. Thank you Ruth for another very enjoyable match."  -- Hong Giap
Reveal CommentRichard Randle bt Max Hallmark (Nov 19) 6-4, 7-6 (7-5)

Player Comments:

  • "An excellent match against a very strong tennis player. Max has some superb shots and plays aggressive tennis; trying to hit winners when he can. He forced me to play a defensive game due to his powerful shots, which isn't my preferred way of playing. Max deserved to at least take the match to a third set but the low sun played its part when we switched ends as I was 1-5 down in the tie break before winning 6 points in a row as I played with the sun behind me. Looking forward to our next match!"  -- Richard
Reveal CommentRichard Randle bt Vincent Van Goor (Nov 19) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "An enjoyable match in the autumn sunshine in Cannon Hill Park. Vincent played some great shots and was very unfortunate not to win a few games. Good luck for the rest of the league."  -- Richard
Reveal CommentHong Giap Teo bt Andrei Nitoi (Nov 19) 6-0, 7-6 (7-5)

Player Comments:

  • "Match was played under a crisp sunny autumn morning and was quite tricky to see the ball when facing the sun on one side of the court. There were plenty of long rallies and Andrei put on a stiff competition in the second set, which was eventually decided on a tie-break. Thank you Andrei for an enjoyable game and good luck to the rest of your league matches."  -- Hong Giap

Reveal CommentRuth Evans bt Vincent Van Goor (Nov 12) 7-6 (7-5), 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "1st set marred by the glorious sunshine - very difficult to see the ball on one side of the court and I was lucky to play more of my tie-break on the less sunny side. 2nd set, we had a lot more and a lot longer rallies. Thanks very much for an competitive and enjoyable match, Vince, hope to play you again soon."  -- Ruth

Reveal CommentRichard Randle bt Hong Giap Teo (Nov 6) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "A very harsh scoreline on Hong, who played some great points today. This was our third match against each other and the best Hong has played, so he was very unlucky not to win a few games. I was able to find consistency and winners at the right times. Always an enjoyable game - thanks for the match and for booking the court."  -- Richard

Reveal CommentHong Giap Teo bt Vincent Van Goor (Oct 30) 7-6 (7-2), 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "It has been a few years since Vincent and I last played against each other in the tennis league and it was lovely to meet again in this round playing under dry but somewhat tricky breezy condition today. We had a few very long games and some good rallies. With the benefit of taking the first set after a very tight and tense contest which could have gone either way, I was able to hit more freely in the second set to eventually win this match. Thank you Vincent and good luck to the rest of your league matches. "  -- Hong Giap
Reveal CommentEldin Basic bt Ruth Evans (Oct 28) 6-0, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Ruth is a fighter and has a well established game. Pleasure to play her as most points in 2nd set were really competitive with her being in the lead 3 2 after breaking my serve. She has a decent serve too, especially on advantage side and can run down most of the balls. My game proved just about too powerful on occasion though as 90+mph serves and fast and flat returns proved too much at the end. Looking forward playing again very soon hopefully. "  -- Eldin
