Player Comments:

  • "Another great match with Tom. He's incredibly difficult to beat as the rallies are relentless and it's non-stop running for pretty much two hours. I had to play my best tennis to win as Tom was very consistent and didn't give me any free points. Thanks for the game, Tom. No doubt we'll have another close match in the next league."  -- Richard
Reveal CommentRichard Randle bt Ian Emery (May 20) 6-1, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Second time playing against Ian and another enjoyable game. Anyone who is willing to chase down every single ball is clearly a good competitor and we had some great rallies. A match played in the right spirit and I look forward to our next game. Cheers! "  -- Richard
Reveal CommentTom Bird bt James Cumming (May 17) 6-4, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Enjoyable game once more with James. He started very strongly and was 3-1 up in the first set. He was serving very well and hit some good forehand winners and I thought it may have been a comfortable win for James. I was able to make a few first serves and kept the ball away from his forehand which enabled me to win more points and take the set 6-4. The level of play dropped in the second set and I was able to make more balls and I won it 6-0. Looking forward to our next one on grass. "  -- Tom
Reveal CommentRichard Randle bt Hong Giap Teo (May 15) 6-1, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Hong is a much better player than the score suggests. He hit some excellent shots. Unfortunately the damp courts made running difficult and this impacted the quality of our game. An enjoyable match despite the wet courts."  -- Richard
Reveal CommentTom Bird bt David Crowley (May 10) 6-1, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Enjoyable match with David played in perfect conditions. David has a strong serve and good shots from both forehand and backhand. I was generally staying in the points longer and took advantage of short balls and came into the net when possible. Looking forward to our next one. "  -- Tom
Reveal CommentIan Emery bt James Cumming (May 9) 1-6, 6-4, [11-9]

Player Comments:

  • "I am sure James would agree but warming up it felt like David v Goliath such was the gulf in class. Predictably James won the first set in no time at all. Somehow I found myself 3-0 up in the second set. James started playing more conservatively and the rallies became more tense. At 5-1 up I thought the unthinkable might happen and I might actually win a set. James though won the next three games and I thought my chance had gone, however I won a tight 10th game to take the set. With time short we played a championship tiebreaker (had we played a normal third set I am sure James would have won) which I somehow won 11-9. We both left the court in a state of shock thinking how on earth did that happen! It felt like day light robbery."  -- Ian
Reveal CommentIan Emery bt David Crowley (May 7) 4-6, 6-4, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "At 4-6, 2-4 0-30 it looked like David was going to win in straight sets. I dug though incredibly deep to win the second set and eventually win the match after more than 3 hours. A very close match that could have gone either way."  -- Ian
Reveal CommentTom Bird bt Hong Giap Teo (May 6) 6-3, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Tough game with Hong due to the very poor weather which we played in. We’ll have another one in better conditions sometime. "  -- Tom
Reveal CommentRichard Randle bt Tyrell Bailey (May 5) 6-0, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "A good match in nice weather this evening. I managed to start well and hit a few winners and first serves. Tyrell got around the court quickly and hit some very good shots. The second set was close and Tyrell served better, forcing me to hold my own serve. Thanks for the game "  -- Richard
Reveal CommentRichard Randle bt David Crowley (Apr 30) 6-3, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Another enjoyable game with David. We had lots of rallies and he played some good tennis. I was able to hit a few winners and the scoreline is flattering. Always a pleasure playing David. Thanks for the game."  -- Richard
Reveal CommentIan Emery bt Tyrell Bailey (Apr 29) 3-6, 6-4, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Before the match Tyrell suggested we book the court for three hours given our last match was a gruelling 3 setter. When Tyrell raced into a 4-0 lead in the first set I did wonder if we would even need the court for one hour. I avoided the whitewash but Tyrell won the first set fairly easily 6-3. The second set was a very tense affair with long games and and even longer rallies. It could have gone either way but I managed to win 6-4 and carried the momentum through to final the final set. After 2.5 hours I was very tired!"  -- Ian
Reveal CommentTyrell Bailey bt Hong Giap Teo (Apr 20) 6-4, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Good, competitive match in less than ideal windy conditions. "  -- Tyrell
Reveal CommentTom Bird bt Tyrell Bailey (Apr 15) 6-4, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Perfect day for tennis, first time this year it was actually warm on court. Tyrell started very strongly and was 3-0 40/30 up, I managed to start making more balls and was able to start winning more points and took the first set 6-4. The second set was close throughout and I managed to take it 6-3. Really enjoyable and competitive game played in perfect conditions. Looking forward to the next one. "  -- Tom

Player Comments:

  • "This was the third time I have played Hong and he is always a pleasure to play. Although the scoreline suggests it was relatively one sided it was anything but, with long rallies and many of the games going to deuce."  -- Ian

  • "James and I always have close matches and tonight was no exception. Two close sets with James making a comeback in both before I narrowly won. Always a pleasure playing at The Priory - I look forward to our next match."  -- Richard

After conceding a set point in the first set and being 4-1 down in the 2nd set I levelled to a tiebreak which I saved 4 match points to eventually take it. Third set was of a higher quality. Glad to get through it and look forward to playing Jonathan again."  -- Rohit

Player Comments:

  • "Overall a decent match with Evaldas in which I was trailing 2-6, 3-1. When we resumed play, I found better rhythm and was up at 5-3 in the 2nd but eventually levelled up the match 1 set each. I was up at 5-2 in the final set and squandered that lead with far too many mistakes, but was able to close it out in a 3rd set breaker. However he kept me on my toes with his defensive play - a little frustrating at times :) but happy with the win. "  -- Rohit
