"So glad I joined the league. Although disappointing not to have played well enough to have won a set or match I'm undeterred. Played with some very encouraging and kind players had a great workout and enjoyed playing in the great outdoors. Calthorpe Park is a great venue. Thank you so much for all the organisation - I really appreciate it. I look forward to improving my game and tasting success hopefully soon!"

Reveal CommentJulie Davies v Irisa Chiu (Aug 2) 6-4, 4-6, 6-6 TBC

Player Comments:

  • "What a closely fought and thoroughly enjoyable match! I managed to take a very tight first set. Irisa came back and won a tight second set with some very assured and skilful play at the net. We were both having so much fun, not to mention getting a thoroughly good workout from all the running around the court, that we decided to play a full third set, rather than a championship tie break. “We’ve got floodlights, we’ll be fine.” Or so we thought … It went to a tiebreak and at 2-2 the lights went out due to 10 pm curfew! It seems a somehow fitting result that the such a close match ended in draw. "  -- Julie
Reveal CommentBarrie Pleasance bt Irisa Chiu (Aug 1) 6-3, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Testament to both players that this match got played. Once the very heavy downpour had reduced to just fine drizzle, the match began, but with very slippy conditions underfoot. I’ve never played on clay, but I imagine this was good practice, as there was of sliding into position, before striking the ball. This was an even match, Irisa made the better start and deservedly led 3:1 in the first. I got more used to the conditions and started to hit winning shots more often; the lob was working well. Many thanks for the game. "  -- Barrie
Reveal CommentAlex Moore bt Kristina Dolgova (Jul 27) 6-2, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "A really close game with Kristina with lots of rallies, running and deuce games. The first set began with both of us breaking the others first serve and some tight deuce games to retain serve left the game at 2-2. I was able to take advantage of playing at ‘home’ and with a few lucky shots served out the first set, though Kristina fought right to the end! Kristina raced ahead to 3-0 in the second and some really tight games meant I had to fight to win back the breaks of serves. Some tight deuce games left me again fighting to win. A great match, thanks as always Kristina. "  -- Alex
Reveal CommentAlex Moore bt Dorota Adamczyk (Jul 26) 6-4, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "After a little shower the sun shone on what was a good game. Dorota fought back from 3-0 down to make it a tight finish in the first set. The winning games continued but wasn’t quite enough on the day. Some good rallies, tough serves and all round fun. Thanks for the game!"  -- Alex
Reveal CommentJulie Davies bt Robyn Moore (Jul 25) 6-1, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Always a joy to play Robyn. The usual laughter and joviality ensued on court as well as the powerful ground strokes which I had no hope of returning! Some great rallies. Thanks for a fun match. Bring on the next one"  -- Julie
Reveal CommentBarrie Pleasance bt Dorota Adamczyk (Jul 21) 6-1, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "A more closely contested match than the score might suggest, with many games going to deuce that could have gone either way. Lots of fun rallies and great shots from both players in very hot & humid conditions. I was running on empty by the end! Thanks for a great game! "  -- Barrie
Reveal CommentAlex Moore bt Julie Davies (Jul 16) 6-2, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "A good game in the sun to get the league underway. It was a closely fought battle with Julie saving a game in the first set to make me serve it out followed by rushing to a 3-0 lead. Unfortunately Julie was unable to hold on in what was a very tight match. Great fun, thanks for the game Julie. "  -- Alex
Reveal CommentKristina Dolgova bt Dorota Adamczyk (Jul 12) 6-4, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Great games! Dorota is very consistent, and just kept returning the ball...some lively long rallies and creative some too. Definitely kept me on my toes."  -- Kristina
Reveal CommentKristina Dolgova bt Irisa Chiu (Jul 8) 6-2, 4-6, 6-1

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed the match. Some great rallies and winner serves from Irisa. "  -- Kristina
