Just the one group in this Autumn round, but there was still many enjoyable games of tennis played and an excellent show of sportsmanship on and off court- thanks everyone. It would be great to see the league grow in 2019, so do spread the word locally if you can. Here's to many more matches in the new year!

Group Summary:

Jon proved to be unstoppable on his debut, surging to five straight wins and earning bonus points to leave us in no doubt as to who's the new champ - can he keep this up next time? Adam did come close to ending Jon's winning streak in their "tough, tight and enjoyable game". Terry combined his excellent scheduling skills with three wins and a point from a marathon defeat to Adam to take the silver by a whisker. Well played all.

Player Comments:

  • "A tough tight enjoyable game played indoors under the lights at Writhlington tennis centre on a mild November evening. Jon started well going 3-0 up in the first set but Adam dragged it back finding his form to level it at 3-3. Both players traded regularly from the baseline with Adam regularly using drop shots to keep Jon on his toes. Jon’s running and lack of fitness meant he got a sweat on even in shirts and t shirt in November. Jon eventually closed it out 7-5 to win the first set. The second set started much the same, Jon going 3-0 up and Adam bringing it back to 3-3. Jon served consistently with variation to hold onto win the second set 6-4. A great contest with excellent line calls and very fair sportsmanship. Really enjoyable."  -- Jon
