"First time playing in an organised league since school days.  Enjoyed all my matches, looking forward to the next round.",

Gerard Boyle

Just read your email Sally. Genuinely emotional to hear you're leaving us (and that's coming from someone who's wife calls him "Spock"). The league(and therefore you) have made the last 8 years so much more fun, and helped when I had a wee wobbly patch a year ago. I hope you're going on to even greater things and hopefully you get the recognition you deserve. I tell everyone in my club about the league as I believe it's a fantastic way for players like me to get competitive without getting humiliated! All the best for the future. Blair

"A great event - its definitely not about winning but meeting new people who share the same passion for the sport and above all who love having fun on the tennis court. Thank you Sally and Nigel.", Stephen Reynolds

Stephen Reynolds

"Really enjoyed playing in Group 3. I feel I've improved my game since I first joined the league a few years ago, still got a lot to learn though. Playing in Group 2 will certainly be a tough test, though I'm looking forward to it,"

Stewart Campbell

"As a first timer to the league I wasn't sure how it would be, however I really enjoyed the experience",

Stuart Trotter

"I really enjoyed the experience of playing in the league. It was exactly what I was looking for, regular games, a good workout and that bit of competition to spur you on. I will definitely continue to play in the league and have encouraged a couple of friends to throw their hats in the ring (or racquets on court). I feel that my game has improved because of playing in the league and hope this continues also,"

Robert Graha

Definitely it was my day and I managed to beat Kevin first time in the history. Lol. It was incredibly competitive , nerves cracking match and would have gone either way. I won it by the skin of my teeth. Wish you good luck with rest of your matches Kevin. Cheers Nadeem "  -- Muhammad

Reveal CommentGordon Craig bt Jim Howie (Apr 11) 6-4, 2-6, [10-8]

Player Comments:

  • "Great match with Jim at Queen's Park played in the alternating sunshine and hail of a typical Scottish spring day. The first set was marked by alternate breaks of serve with me just managing to consolidate a late break to take it. Jim stormed ahead in the second with some great aggressive play including one particularly sublime down the line passing shot. I managed to rally back slightly at 5-0 but he held fast to take the set. Due to time limits we played a champions tie break for the third which mimicked the first set with several mini breaks exchanged before I just edged it with a late break and hold of serve. Good to see you again Jim. All the best with your other matches."  -- Gordon

Reveal CommentSam Currie bt Stephen Killow (Apr 9) 6-3, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "Really competitive match at a sunny Drumchapel. The difference in the first set was due only to Stephen's rustiness after 20 years not playing. Once he found his serve it took all my effort to secure the set. Second set it was really tight, lots of long rallies and deuce points. I had to really concentrate at 4-5 to save a few set points, before managing to break and serve out the set. Thanks again Stephen, best of luck for the rest of the round."  -- Sam

Reveal CommentSam Currie bt Dimitar Georgiev (Apr 6) 4-6, 6-0, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Tough match as usual with Dimitar, nothelped by random crosswinds. Dimitar got an early break and kept ahead to take the first; I then found a bit more rhythm and some luck to win eight games in a row before. At 2-1 we had a very long, critical game, with at least ten deuce points, which I managed to win to maintain some distance. Remaining games very close, but my early advantage got me over the line. "  -- Sam
Reveal CommentSam Currie bt Peter Rough (Apr 5) 7-6 (7-4), 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Hard-fought match at a sunnier than expected Knightswood. First set saw the lead change several times, lots of deuce games, before the inevitable tiebreak. Just got my nose in front there and secured the set. Peter made the better start to the second, to lead 3-0 and 40-0 in what turned out to be the critical game. I managed to claw my way back into the game, helped by the sun making life difficult for the player facing into it at times. Again, close games, most going to deuce, but just shaded it. Thanks Peter, good luck for the rest of the round."  -- Sam
