  • "A slower start for Ally in the 1st but an improved 2nd set with more shots on target. Time was running out so we had a tie break which was probably more a case of mind over matter than who was able to play the better shots. A hard game for me tonight but enjoyable and a good way to keep warm on a 3C night. Will be interesting to see who ends up 2nd and 3rd overall in our round."  -- Gamal

Reveal CommentGamal Haddou bt Scott McGregor (Jan 29) 7-6 (7-3), 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "It was a late game with Scott on a slippery court due to light drizzle. Plus half the floodlights went off for a while! The 1st set was very even and both of us a bit rusty needing the practice. Scott managed a couple of aces but too many errors kept the score close. This took us to 6-6 and somehow I ended up with a large gap in the tie-break. The 2nd set involved moving one court along for the better light. Although Scott had a leg injury he played on at a lower pace which meant I could break serve and keep ahead. Overall it was an enjoyable game and a much needed opening match to test the fitness and shake off the December cobwebs. At David Lloyd it will be a closer game with less slippery surface and storm debris over the court."  -- Gamal
