Aji has a superb first serve that is fast and has a lot of dip on it and it took me quite a long time to get to grips with it. Allied to that he has a fierce forehand - he duly punishes short balls. I managed to overturn a break of serve to snatch the first set before Aji took control of the second. When we returned a week or so later I had to bring a better level of tennis. Both of us served well as the pressure grew towards the climax of the set. With no breaks of serve it was a tie break to settle it. I managed to get over the line after getting my nose in front. The second set was a completely different story- Michael deservedly went 4-1 up in the second through a combination of skilful drop shots and powerful drives. Anything short or slow was put away with real aggression. The momentum then turned and Michael struggled to maintain the form he showed earlier in the set. An extremely competitive game- think we both surprised ourselves at the quality of some of the points. Playing in the Scotstoun sauna was tough but some great rallies and my serve got me through the first set. Rachael came back strongly in the second set once she got more used to the surface and lights and we got to 4-3 with no breaks I got the break at the crucial time in the eighth game and got over the line.
