With half the possible matches played this round we take a glass-half-full approach to our round summary and toast all of you who got on court and played so many enjoyable matches. We had many newcomers which is always good to see and judging by the commentaries, a lot of fun was had. Thank you for supporting the league and each other; here's to round 45.

Group Summary:

Michael successfully defended his group win from last time and added a match to his tally of wins, all making for a very commendable round and as runner-up Gilies noted, "this guy is good!". So the search is on for someone to give Michael a run for his money next time. It could even be Pascal who earns third place for his good win but left too many possible matches on the cutting room floor.

A very determined return to the league for Paul who, after a great run-around with runner up Vijay, stormed through his matches to win the group unbeaten on 12 points. There were more matches to play in the group and Simon could probably have firmed up his third place, so watch this space next round.

Group Summary:

Like Michael in group one, Maurice made it back to back group victories and was unbeaten over the eight weeks. But he was tested on a couple of occasions and if runner-up Bassim had not been forced to retire in their match after going up a set we might well have had a closer overall finish. But lets take nothing away from Maurice, a very well-deserved champ again. Thanks for all the great commentaries, it looks like a nice group to play in.

Group Summary:

Rather too few matches played in this group which means it is anyone's guess what might have happened if more players had really got going. That said, it is players who can win matches and who have mastered the art of scheduling who usually rise to the top and Pawel, our winner this time, will always be in contention with this sort of performance. Pawel won more matches than anyone else and picked up bonus points and that meant he could brush off defeats to Carlos and runner-up Benjamin. More tennis please next time, but well done on the matches that did get played.

Group Summary:

Again a group where more matches weren't played than were and that's like playing Russian roulette for any player seriously wanting to win the group. If you misfire on the day and lose a match, that is probably your hopes of the title dashed. No such problems for Phil who made sure all his appearances counted and while runner-up Gus also had an unbeaten run he was a match short of tieing the table. Of course what we really want to see is the head-to-head between them! That will have to wait till next time. Gus and Andy tied on points but Gus gets the bronze by dint of his victory when they met on court.

Group Summary:

The top of the table was a competitive affair with Viktor definitely not getting it all his own way. Runner up David won their match but could not add enough wins to his tally to catch the champ and Saxon sadly couldn't follow up his excellent three-set win against Viktor with any more matches. More to play for next time, but well-played to bonus-point-grabbing, three-match-winner Viktor!

Group Summary:

In a group packed with new players, Andre dominated but the toughest challenge on the way to the top of the group came at the beginning of the round when Richard took him the distance. For Richard that point won helped him to second place in the group and, like Andre with his six wins, he can be pleased with a more than satisfactory round. But everyone should take a bow for a lively group with plenty of good tennis. Please do all return to play again - you are an asset to the tennis community.

Group Summary:

A fantastic debut performance from Eric who looks to be heading rapidly up the tables. Not only did Eric earn five excellent wins but he bagged bonus points too and as seasoned league pros know, bonus points (and scheduling success) can make all the difference. We love Eric's commentaries too - they really bring the story of the round to life and it was nice to hear about Eric's very first match and the immediate on-court bond between eventual runner-up Gayaneh. Lucile earned a very commendable third place and could easily have ended higher still if she had played a couple more matches. Great group everyone.

Group Summary:

A bumper set of matches in Group 9 gives some idea of the strength and depth of London public court tennis and the player not giving an inch was Sasha. Five matches played, five wins taken and not a set dropped, it was perhaps inevitable that Sasha would also add bonus points to his tally. An excellent performance especially as Philippa and Richard were doing their best to catch him. Second place goes to Philippa who got the better of Richard this time. See you all next round.
