Reveal CommentCatalin Iordache bt John Hodgen (Oct 17) 6-4, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "John is trying to play tennis on every point! So a big well done for this. Even I am very very far from my potential I managed to win after a very close combat. Really excited for our next match John"  -- Catalin
Reveal CommentHans Lansbergen bt Pawel Wlodyga (Oct 14) 4-6, 6-2, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Great match. I started out with a 3-1 lead in the first set but Pawel's massive topspin forehands were hitting the mark whenever he got the chance and I wasn't able to judge the ball which led to lots of misses and off centre hits.. A loose service game later and Pawel took the lead to win the first set. Second set started quite even and I was able to read Pawel's topspin balls much better and direct play more. We had some great rallies making each other run all over the court. Every point at the net seemed to go Pawel's way! I kept serving well and got the result in the second set. The third set was over much quicker as Pawel's energy level dropped and wasn't making the hard FH's as much so I closed out the match by staying the course. "  -- Hans
Reveal CommentSteve Bradley bt John Hodgen (Oct 14) 6-3, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Tight game on nice evening. Thanks John"  -- Steve
Reveal CommentJames Burney bt Catalin Iordache (Oct 12) 6-3, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Catalin was suffering with injury again today and struggled with his movement and serves. I managed to serve well and played pretty consistent which was the difference. We had some good rallies and games though, especially the last game of the 1st set that must have gone to deuce about 15 times before I finally managed to close it out!"  -- James
Reveal CommentJames Burney bt John Hodgen (Oct 10) 4-6, 6-2, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "What a fantastic match! There was absolutely nothing between us, 2 players of a very similar standard with very similar styles - good serves, aggressive play and a few mishits! Nice to meet you John and thanks for the game, look forward to the next one."  -- James
Reveal CommentJames Burney bt Roberto Velasco (Oct 3) 6-2, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Probably the best I’ve played since joining the league, just unfortunate for Roberto he was on the other side of the net! Some great rallies and tight games though, especially in the second set where just a few key points were the difference. Nice to meet you Roberto and thanks for the game, look forward to the next one!"  -- James
Reveal CommentPawel Wlodyga bt John Hodgen (Sep 26) 6-1, 6-2

Reveal CommentPawel Wlodyga bt Catalin Iordache (Sep 22) 6-3, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Catalin probably not in his best shape at The moment. Although we've had really good First set. Thanks for The game and Good luck in your remaining marches mate"  -- Pawel
Reveal CommentHans Lansbergen bt Roberto Velasco (Sep 19) 6-0, 6-7 (3-7), 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Very interesting tennis match with quite clever tactics and some great lung busting rallies. With Hans serving for the match at 5-1, Roberto changed his tactics, playing some very clever and consistent tennis and held on like a dog with a bone. His devilish second serve proved to be too tricky as well as his lobs combined with deep loopy ball play so he managed to claw his way back and win the second set! Luckily I found a way to counter his tactics in the third set but some very long rallies were needed to finish the match. Finished right in time before the rain as well. Great match! "  -- Hans
Reveal CommentHans Lansbergen bt John Hodgen (Sep 17) 6-1, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Fun match with some good rallies...score line would have been a lot closer had some of John's close slices found the line. Good day out on the new courts in Horsham Sports Club."  -- Hans
Reveal CommentHans Lansbergen bt Catalin Iordache (Sep 16) 6-2, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Fun match, some pretty fast serves from Catalin to contend with. He wasn't in best shape physically as he had some knee and back pain so probably not the normal result it would have been had he been in good shape."  -- Hans
Reveal CommentRoberto Velasco bt Catalin Iordache (Sep 13) 6-1, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Roberto start very strong attacking Catalin and breaking twice taking the score 4-0 then Catalin breaks and after two long games Roberto breaks again finishing the set 6-1, second set start with 1-1 score then Roberto continues with attacking strategy winning the next 5 games and winning the second set 6-1 and the match. Second set with long rallies, all in all good tennis Match !"  -- Roberto
Reveal CommentRoberto Velasco bt John Hodgen (Sep 12) 6-1, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "The match started with a very long game that John won breaking Roberto’s serve, then Roberto’s breaks and after long Games almost all of them to deuce Roberto won the first set 6-1. Second set again very long games with good rallies, Roberto was leading 4-0 then John came back winning 2 in a row and then just because of decisive points Roberto won the next 2 winning the second set 6-2 and the match. The score did not reflect how close the match was. Again welcome to the League John. Great Tennis Match ! "  -- Roberto
Reveal CommentHans Lansbergen bt Steve Bradley (Sep 11) 6-0, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Overall good level of tennis with some good rallies. Some excellent passing shots from Steve and great slices which are tricky to deal with. Thanks for a good hit!"  -- Hans
Reveal CommentHans Lansbergen bt James Burney (Sep 8) 6-2, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Overall a good match, several good rallies and both of us not shy to come to the net. This was the first time James and I played so the first set was also trying to figure each other's game out. I think I was able to break early in the first set by making a few less unforced errors and serving well. James gave me a hard time serving for the first set but I finally got it done. Second set was closer and my energy level dropped a bit where James' seemed to pick up. I had a wobbly service game that went to deuce and advantage several times but managed to hold on. A couple of great defensive shots and nice serve and volleys during the second set by James with some good rallies in each game. Good match in the heat of the day!"  -- Hans
