Reveal CommentHans Lansbergen bt Roberto Velasco (Sep 19) 6-0, 6-7 (3-7), 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Very interesting tennis match with quite clever tactics and some great lung busting rallies. With Hans serving for the match at 5-1, Roberto changed his tactics, playing some very clever and consistent tennis and held on like a dog with a bone. His devilish second serve proved to be too tricky as well as his lobs combined with deep loopy ball play so he managed to claw his way back and win the second set! Luckily I found a way to counter his tactics in the third set but some very long rallies were needed to finish the match. Finished right in time before the rain as well. Great match! "  -- Hans

  • "Fun match, some pretty fast serves from Catalin to contend with. He wasn't in best shape physically as he had some knee and back pain so probably not the normal result it would have been had he been in good shape."  -- Hans

Player Comments:

  • "Roberto start very strong attacking Catalin and breaking twice taking the score 4-0 then Catalin breaks and after two long games Roberto breaks again finishing the set 6-1, second set start with 1-1 score then Roberto continues with attacking strategy winning the next 5 games and winning the second set 6-1 and the match. Second set with long rallies, all in all good tennis Match !"  -- Roberto
Reveal CommentRoberto Velasco bt John Hodgen (Sep 12) 6-1, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "The match started with a very long game that John won breaking Roberto’s serve, then Roberto’s breaks and after long Games almost all of them to deuce Roberto won the first set 6-1. Second set again very long games with good rallies, Roberto was leading 4-0 then John came back winning 2 in a row and then just because of decisive points Roberto won the next 2 winning the second set 6-2 and the match. The score did not reflect how close the match was. Again welcome to the League John. Great Tennis Match ! "  -- Roberto

Reveal CommentHans Lansbergen bt James Burney (Sep 8) 6-2, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Overall a good match, several good rallies and both of us not shy to come to the net. This was the first time James and I played so the first set was also trying to figure each other's game out. I think I was able to break early in the first set by making a few less unforced errors and serving well. James gave me a hard time serving for the first set but I finally got it done. Second set was closer and my energy level dropped a bit where James' seemed to pick up. I had a wobbly service game that went to deuce and advantage several times but managed to hold on. A couple of great defensive shots and nice serve and volleys during the second set by James with some good rallies in each game. Good match in the heat of the day!"  -- Hans
