Vertical Tabs

This is how it works:

  • Players are organised into groups of up to 8 people of a similar standard
  • Contact details are emailed
  • Players arrange their own matches
  • It is a mixed sex, singles league, so men and women play each other
  • You can play on any court that suits both players

The league is:

  • For everybody!
  • We welcome beginners as well as advanced players.
  • Don't worry that you won't be good enough - playing matches is the best way to improve, and we use an online questionnaire to assess people's ability so you play only people of a roughly similar level
  • Affiliated to the LTA For adults aged 18 years and above

Key points

  • Matches are best of three sets; if a set reaches 6 games all it is decided by a tiebreak
  • The evening before the round starts you will receive an email with all the contact details of the players in your group
  • Players are placed in groups according to past performance in the league and, for new players, their Player Standard Questionnaire
  • Each player attempts to play each of the other player on their group once during the round
  • If you complete three matches before the midpoint of a round you receive 2 bonus points and a bonus prize (either a pair of Local Tennis Leagues dampeners, or a tube of tennis balls).
  • The winner of the group is the player with the most points at the end of the round
  • The winner of the group wins a certificate and tennis prizes
  • Where possible, winners of groups are promoted to the group above for the next round.

New players will need to complete the player questionnaire before they can join a round. Once you’ve signed up, and for returning players you can join any of the upcoming rounds above.

Reveal CommentMarcos Fernandez bt David Jovic (Oct 15) 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Great game and fun as always playing David on a hot October's day in Kennington! A brilliant first set taking an hour to finish with David proving too strong for me in the tie breaker. A tense game at 4-4 in the second set where I held my serve (we mostly broke serve all day) allowed me to go 5-4 up and break David to level the match. With a few games under my belt already I was better prepared for the final set than David and was able to see it out. Lots of comical net play and misses from us both but overall a good standard game and every enjoyable rallies. Can't wait to play again!"  -- Marcos
Reveal CommentTom Harvey bt Jamie Feldman (Oct 15) 6-4, 4-6, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Another great encounter with Tom, predictably going to three sets (as we do every time). On both sides of the court, serving was at times a bit erratic, but we should really have guessed that from my seven double faults in the first game (!). Tom managed to make up for that with two killer aces in the second set. Some excellent long rallies, drop shots, passing shots, lobs - all played with a fairly angry racket-thrower on the court next to us! Unfortunately we had to stop due to time, and hopefully we can finish off the game soon."  -- Jamie
Reveal CommentTimothy Jones bt Tom Harvey (Oct 13) 6-4, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Another tight, attritional game against Tom, who hit some blistering winners and deft drop shots throughout the match. A special thanks to Tom for hanging on for a delayed start after a work emergency, and to loiterers Jamie and Marcos for providing a fill-in knock up! I was fortuitous to find myself with an early lead in both sets, since without this undeserved head-start the result would surely have been very different. Tom's masterful saving of two set points in the first set was a prime example of how close things were!"  -- Timothy
Reveal CommentMarcos Fernandez bt Jamie Feldman (Oct 13) 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "First time playing my friend Jamie in the KB league and I knew there would be very little in it as the score shows. Normally we smash forehands at each other for 2 hours but we both had a bit more joy mixing it up today, lots of slices, drop shots & lobs all night. J fought off two match points in the second set and went on to nick it in the tie break deservedly. Only difference in the 3rd was J's dodgy shoulder prevented any decent serving from him allowing me to break and get ahead and serve it out in the end just about. Look forward to our next game!"  -- Marcos
Jordan Dainty bt Marcos Fernandez (Oct 6) 6-2, 6-4
Reveal CommentTimothy Jones bt Marcos Fernandez (Oct 3) 6-3, 1-6, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "An epic 2-hour encounter to open the round and welcome Marcos back to Group 1. Really good tennis throughout, with some great rallies and a range of stunning clean winners from Marcos. All sets had most games going to deuce; I edged the first set, then watched a masterclass in hitting from Marcos during the second. An even tighter third set looked like it might run and run, but I just ended up getting luckier at the end with a couple of net cords. Can’t wait for the next one!"  -- Timothy

Every point, was fiercely contested with some great long rallies featuring volleys, drop-shots, lobs, smashes...the lot! Thanks for the game Nick and looking forward to the next epic battle."  -- Guy
Reveal CommentJulian Leichtmann bt Omar Cader (Oct 4) 6-4, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "I think Omar and i were both struggling a bit with the sight and the floodlights. Omar started very well and was ahead whereas I became better the longee we were playing. Especially the first set has been tight and could have ended the way eound but I was more lucky and made the big points. I really enjoyed this match and the conversations besides the match. Looking forward to play again you again."  -- Julian
Reveal CommentOmar Cader bt Guy Fowles (Sep 30) 6-1, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Score is extremely flattering, the 2 practice sets of 6-4 6-4 a far better reflection (but i'll take it). Guy serves and volleys really well and would be very difficult to beat on grass and synthetic grass courts."  -- Omar

Player Comments:

  • "London saw a natural phenomenon on Monday, the likes of which we aren't likely to see again in ages! No, forget Hurricane Ophelia and discount that weird red sky that hung over us like our impending doom... I'm talking about something much more up-lifting. 3 sets of the highest quality tennis. I'm talking such high quality here that the highlights reel lasts 30 minutes and has just received its millionth view on youtube having been posted only 24 hours ago! #trending The fans lucky enough to grab a ticket got to see Andy's serve, which surprises you, like a mongoose in the night, and was particularly effective. Not to mention his cross-court forehand that is delivered with such whip he puts a lion tamer to shame. Well played everyone."  -- Edward
Reveal CommentMike Roberts bt Aitor Salas (Oct 12) 7-5, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Nice match with Aitor. He should have had the first set. I had to bring out my conservative game and force the errors. If Aitor had played safe like me it could have gone either way. I'll take more risks next time Aitor to make the game more exciting!"  -- Mike

Reveal CommentEdward Hamill bt Tom Bond (Oct 8) 5-7, 6-2, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "It is said that the early bird catches the worm. Well the tennis fans of South London caught the juiciest, fattest worm you've ever laid eyes on on Sunday morning! The match was scheduled from 9-11 meaning hard-core fans camped overnight in the hope of bagging a ticket to what journalists had described would be the 'greatest show on earth.' If anything the hype turned out to be a vast understatement as the players did battle over 3 stunning sets of tennis. The ferocity of shot-making had the capacity crowd pleading for more like night-club goers demanding one more tune at the end of a night. The loyal fans were treated to aces, winners, lobs and volleys that were so good the match began trending on Instagram #FedererWho? Well played."  -- Edward

Reveal CommentOliver Husbands bt Stephen Grist (Oct 7) 4-6, 6-2, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Stephen served has improved a lot and it caught me off guard when we played the first set. It's never good to enter into a match knowing you have beaten someone expecting the same game and same result. In the 3Rd set the result could have gone either way. A break of serve at 4-4 for me was crucial to take the match. Great game. Won't under estimate this guy again. "  -- Oliver

Patrick had a robust slice game which caught me out, and I found myself 3-5 down in the first set helped by my terrible serving. I managed to break back and hold to a tie break which was very tight. The match is TBC, hanging at 15-15 and five-all in the final set – and we have both agreed to play the match out without any tie-break! A very close match, with some punishing rallies and both of us serving well ... All I can say is: STAY TUNED SPORTS FANS!"  -- Christopher

Reveal CommentChristopher Burkham bt Mike Begent (Oct 6) 6-4, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "A very tight match (as reflected by the score), with good and poor serving on both sides, and very few deuce games. Mike has some very good groundstrokes, and one shot in particular that I can only describe as kinky – a wristy forehand that pounces on short balls, and spanks the reply to the sidelines. A close game, that required concentration on my part ..."  -- Christopher
Reveal CommentChristopher Burkham bt Joshua Lipworth (Oct 4) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "The double-bagel scoreline is very flattering to me, and not a true reflection of the match. Josh hadn't played for some time, and the rust really showed on his serve – which when it clicked, can be quite the weapon with a fair amount of kick on it. A lot of the games went to deuce, and a number of the lengthier rallies stretched the both of us. All in all, an enjoyable morning's tennis ...!"  -- Christopher
Reveal CommentChristopher Burkham bt Elinor Wakefield (Sep 30) 6-2, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "A fine match to start this round. As usual, at this level, there was little to choose between us, with Elinor prolonging rallies which often forced mistakes from me. Luckily, my serve was on relatively good form and I managed a number of aces (as well as a good few double-faults!) ... a number of games were played to deuce, which shows that it could have gone either way – all in all, a very solid start to the round from both of us."  -- Christopher

Player Comments:

Reveal CommentDee Dinneen bt John Barton (Oct 7) 7-5, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "It was a drizzly, blustery Saturday morning in Brockwell Park. Some erratic play from both sides of the net led to a long two set-match with lots of running around the court (some rallies drawing cheers from spectators).
