Match Results:
Player Comments:
- "Fantastic match with James - lots of long rallies, drop shots , volleys and lobs. After fighting back from 5-1 in the first set, James managed to hit some great serves and winners to take the first set. After a faster second set James managed to break in the third but the rain and time caused us to stop. Hoping we get to finish, great to meet you James " -- Alex
Player Comments:
- "Unfortunately the rain caused us to stop what was shaping up to be a good match. Hoping we can arrange a follow up soon." -- Jack
Player Comments:
- "Turns out we were battling a third competitor in the form of torrential rain and gusty winds, which despite battling valiantly against we finally succumbed to after an intermittent hour of play. The time we could manage on court was punctuated with winners from both ends (these weren't conditions conducive to rallying), and any chance of following up has been scuppered by Lockdown 2. Hopefully we can get the league extended and finish off what was, as always, a very enjoyable match up. (Andy)" -- Andy
Player Comments:
- "Once again, another three set match with Mark that now seems almost obligatory. Consistency won out in the first set, with Mark roaring ahead as I struggled to find a serve. The second set played out much more evenly with some brilliant rallies, seeing lobs and counter lobs constantly landing the right side of the baseline. Thankfully for me, the momentum gained from winning the second set saw me through the third too (which saw a collectors item of a Mark unforced error - so rarely seen on court with his seemingly metronomic ability to make shot after shot). As always, a really enjoyable game, with the conversation between changeovers as enjoyable as the on court action. Hopefully see you again soon in the next season! - Andy " -- Andy
Player Comments:
- "Great match with lots of long rallies , Krzysiek was great at getting balls back in the key moments and played some great shots. Lots of games going to deuce in the second set. Was great to play and meet you! " -- Alex
Player Comments:
- "On a slippery surface Kaladerhan forced me to make the mistakes whilst I struggled to find any chinks in his armour. Was a pleasure as always to have a hit together, even if I didn’t provide the biggest challenge." -- Jack
Player Comments:
- "Really enjoyable match with Jack, who plays with a lot of skill and finesse. I got lucky this time." -- James
Player Comments:
- "A great battle, with lots of long rallies, as usual!" -- Mark
Match of the Group:
Kaladerhan Agbontaen bt Emmet Lenoach (Oct 18) 6-4, 4-6, 6-4Player Comments:
- "Once again, another really entertaining match with Jack that saw us both get praise at the end of the match from adjacent courts. A single break of serve made the difference in the first set before a second set of two halves - seeing Jack almost turn a 5-0 deficit into 5-4 in the blink of an eye. With many games going to deuce, on another day this score could easily have been reversed. Look forward to playing again soon! - Andy" -- Andy
Player Comments:
- "Unfortunately ran out of time - hopefully can find a slot to finish what has already been a huge match. " -- Jack
Player Comments:
- "Very enjoyable first time playing against Alex with losts of competitive rallies. As you can tell from the scoreline this was a very topsy-turvy match with some of our best tennis played simultaneously in the third and final set. I look forward to playing with Alex again. " -- Kaladerhan
Player Comments:
- "Very enjoyable match with Ben for the first time with a competitive second set after Ben settled into the match. I look forward to playing again :-)" -- Kaladerhan
Player Comments:
- "We thought we’d brave the rain. But it didn’t stop and the court become more slippy.. After we had both fallen heavily, to avoid more serious injuries, we agreed to resume in dry conditions." -- Mark
Player Comments:
- "A brilliant match with Alex, who fought back from 5-2 down in the first set to force a tie break and threatened to do the same in the second set. On another day the score could easily have been reversed, and Alex's drop shots had me scrambling around the court all match. Look forward to playing again soon!" -- Andy
Player Comments:
- "Lots of fun points on a slippery surface - was great to meet Mitya" -- Jack
Player Comments:
- "An enjoyable first match up, with the rallies getting longer as the games progressed" -- Mark
Player Comments:
- "It was Mitya’s first game in the league and he hadn’t played for a while, so it took him a bit of time to find his range. However, he did find his range very effectively when we played on in a friendly after the match - and then it was a very different result!!" -- Mark
Player Comments:
- "Great match, Andy, look forward to the next one." -- James
Player Comments:
- "It was neck and neck, both battling the gusty wind and a very early start, as well as each other! Great game." -- Mark
Player Comments:
- "Mark’s consistency proved key in a very windy but enjoyable match. " -- Jack
Player Comments:
- "Really great game with Jack with some great rallies and lots of running. " -- Alex

Reveal CommentFinlay Davies bt Ed Naylor (Oct 24) 7-5, 6-7 (3-7), 6-2Player Comments:
- ''Great match with the final set played on a separate day as we ran out of time. Fin was much too strong in the end: big serving, huge forehand and very few errors. Hope to play again soon!'' -- Ed
Player Comments:
- "Really good match with Theo as usual, closer than the score suggests and some excellent points. " -- Ed
Player Comments:
- "Another tough battle with Finlay. He was unplayable at times today, especially on his forehand side!" -- Thomas
Player Comments:
- "My first Kiwi opponent in tennis and I knew from my rugby days David was going to be a tough one to crack they always are it's the All Black heritage, just thankful he didn't perform the Haka before we started and also thankful my back up racquet behaved itself after my first-choice racquet strings broke! the first set went to plan but David threw the down the gauntlet into the second set as in rugby speak made the gain line count, so I knew from the off the third set was to not give him anything nor give way anything, keep it tight and take the momentum out of his sails, easier said than done but it did the trick thank goodness! I could sense he was ready to pounce and I was right Kiwi's make tough opponents an enjoyable good game." -- Finlay
Player Comments:
- "Close game! As usual it s always a pleasure with you." -- Lionel
Player Comments:
- "I was lucky as Theo was a walking wounded player with an injured foot, a bashed hand from crashing into the fence and a sore shoulder he also hadn't played in a while so was rusty all lent itself to a big task for Theo but he bravely fought through the pain barrier and put up a stiff resistance and a tough battle. Another day it would have been a lot closer, as I said from the beginning, I was lucky! " -- Finlay
Player Comments:
- "Despite bad weather, we could finish the match. Thanks David, I enjoyed playing with you." -- Lionel
Player Comments:
- "Great sunny day for tennis!" -- David
Player Comments:
- "A lovely warm day for a game of tennis, nice to have met you Sinead." -- Finlay
Player Comments:
- "Another lovely warm sunny day for a game of tennis, Lionel kept his cool, steely determination and composure all particularly good traits for a tennis player to have, also add in a sunny disposition in his character was a breath of fresh air! The difference was consistency and unforced errors despite the score line a good game was to be had. " -- Finlay
Player Comments:
- "A beautiful sunny day for a game of tennis, nice to have met you David." -- Finlay
