This positive attitude paid off as he secured six superb wins to pull well clear in first place. Defending champ Julian defeated Robert in an extremely close match and finished unbeaten from his five matches but this was only enough to become the runner up this time.

- "Very happy to win this as just taking a single game of David requires a big effort." -- Robert
Player Comments:
- "As always a very close game - joe breezed through the first set but my serve started to come back a little in the final two. Both pleased to have played well and looking forward to the next match!" -- David
Player Comments:
- "Cannot say this was the finest performance from either of us, at times it felt like the contest of who hits the least number of double faults. The first three games were all tight with Christian taking them all. I managed to get on the board thanks to some double faults from Christian then managed to hold. At 3-3 and 4-3 I got lucky with net cords but Christian got is own back with one at set point. I was struggling with energy in the 2nd set so played slightly more passive. Christian at times was moving me around the court but double faults and unforced errors allowed me to finish off the match. The score line definitely flatters me. Look forward to playing again, hopefully with a better serve % by both of us. Thanks" -- Michael
Player Comments:
- "A fun game with the first set tighter than the score line suggested and a second set every bit as tight as the score line suggested!" -- David
Player Comments:
- "Always enjoyable playing Joe and today was no exception. I was returning aggressively in the first set and allowed me to get a couple of breaks. I got an early break in the 2nd set but it didn't last long. Joe was being more aggressive on his return of serve and it meant I had a few tight holds. On the other hand Joe was serving well and generally holding comfortably so him breaking serve at 4-5 did not come as a surprise. The 3rd set was a battle of serves with each of us holding until 5-5. Joe threw in a couple of double faults at this point which allowed me to break. Somehow I held my nerve to win. Was a great game and look forward to playing again. " -- Michael

- "Tight game as the results show. Joe played well and pushed me to play a very defensive game. 2 contrasting styles so it was quite challenging for both of us. Big serves from his part. Well played !" -- Kevin
Player Comments:
- "It is always fun playing Carsten and today was a real topsy turvy match. Neither of played great but was some really good rallies. As per usual when we play I got into an early lead before Carsten reeled me back in. The 2nd set was pretty much the same as the first with both of us having spells of serving ok then terribly. We decided to play the breaker rather than the 3rd set or else we could still be playing! Looking forward to our next epic contest. " -- Michael
Player Comments:
- "Kevin got off to the better start and was easily holding serve as well as breaking twice. The next game must have lasted 15 mins but felt like longer. I somehow managed to hold serve then started returning and serving better. Kevin missed a couple of easy shots at 4-3 which gifted me the game and this seemed to be the turning point. I managed to see out 1st set and got into a lead in the 2nd. Kevin fought back from 5-2 down but his 1st serve % had dropped and a few double faults crept in. Unfortunately it was 2 double faults that handed me the match which is never a good way to win. It was a good match with a lot of running from both of us. I think it will be even closer next time. Thanks for the game." -- Michael
Player Comments:
- "quite windy and we were both struggling with double faults, enjoyable match, quite a few games went to deuce so the scoreline could have been closer" -- Carsten

- "Enjoyable match with some long rallies. I started well and was 4:1 up, then Rob caught up with me and it ended in tiebreak. In 2nd set Rob was 2:0 up, but then I raised my game a bit and managed to with 6 games in a row and win the match. Thanks Rob. " -- Karol
Player Comments:
- "Really enjoyable match. The second set, in particular, was close with most games going to deuce. Jamie must also have hit about 10 lob winners throughout the match, his shots having a perfect arch and always somehow finding the baseline. I played well when needed and had good depth on my groundstrokes which probably was what won me the match. " -- Paul
Player Comments:
- "Lovely sunny morning and perfect conditions for tennis. First set was interesting and tight with me going 2-0 up and Karol coming back to lead 5-3 and serving for the set. In the end we needed the tie break to decide it. Second set I served better and Karol dropped his level. Thanks for the match Karol!" -- Stefano

- Match was played in two sessions. Some quality points on display but also a number of unforced errors from both sides. I tried to steer clear from Ben’s forehand as much as I could. Thanks for the game Ben!
Player Comments:
- "Yikes. Got away with one... After winning the first game of the match and doing the total, absolute, beginner mistake of thinking 'Alright, I will win this set now!' Stefano took the next 6 games, playing really good tennis. I took a little break before the second set trying to re-focus and things improved for me from there on. The match itself was a curious one... As me and Stefano have similar strengths - we both move well around the court and have good defense - the match ended up being one of slow tennis and very long rallies. Often it was a mistake, lob or drop shot that finished the rally - aggressive winners were thin on the ground. Still, totally enjoyable and great match! Thanks Stefano" -- Paul
Player Comments:
- "Another day not made for tennis. A shower before the game delayed the start. Then another one came at the end of the first set so we had to take a 10 min break. Sun was finally out and we managed to finish the game. It was a good fight with a number of close games and plenty of ball chasing." -- Stefano

Player Comments:
- "not a day for tennis really. Gusty wind and a couple of brief showers. Despite that it was a great contest. Two tight sets with long rallies, great points and great fighting spirit. Thanks for the game Rob" -- Stefano
Player Comments:
- "Cheers Jamie!" -- Rob
Player Comments:
- "There were some really sublime points in this match (if I may say so myself) but mostly it was a contest defined by mistakes. Both of us had periods where we really struggled to get the ball in play and the serving was at times quite erratic. But I prefer thinking about Rob's mid court inside out backhand winner or my cross court backhand passing shot from deep etc etc. Much nicer that way! " -- Paul
Player Comments:
- "Another great game with Paul, I have managed to come back in the first set from 2-5 down and kept the momentum also in the second set despite being ahead 5-2 where I have lost a bit of concentration. On the contrary on our previous meeting I have managed not to give rhythm and pace to Paul and eventually it paid off. Very good contest and well played to Paul, a very challenging opponent thanks for the game " -- Luca

Player Comments:
- "Ben has beaten me in both our previous meetings, but a combination of me having a really good day and Ben not playing as well as he can, meant I took the victory this time. Ben has a brilliant forehand so I tried to steer clear of that side of the court and used my cross court backhand as much as I possibly could. My serving was also better than in recent months, which kinda took the pressure off the rest of my game. Thanks Ben for the match!" -- Paul

- "Joe played excellently throughout - he missed very little at the net and hit some fantastic forehand winners I couldn't even get close to! I struggled with his forehand spin. Both sets started fairly evenly but Joe applied pressure just at the right time and played the key points far better than I did. He also coped with the bright sun and the windy conditions very well. Well done Joe. Hopefully it will be third time lucky for me next time!" -- Raf
Player Comments:
- "A tight match with some great rallies and focus on attacking tennis. Both of us served well at times but struggled for consistency and this probably determined the result. " -- Roger
Player Comments:
- "Wow, what a match! I won the first set quite quickly, largely due to unforced errors from Roger. The second set was completely different, with Roger changing his game significantly. He served and volleyed excellently in the second set, and generally played some excellent tennis. The third set was really tight and cagey. Roger sped off to a 3-1 lead, and I had to fight hard to claw myself back to 3-3, and then 4-4. From there, things really could have gone either way, and with few unforced errors on both sides, there were some long rallies and lots of chess-like points. Roger was unlucky with a couple of shots at crucial points, and that probably made the difference. A really testing and enjoyable match. Thanks Roger. Let's play again soon." -- Raf

Gavin came back from 4-1 down to 4-3, and there were a couple of tight and crucial points in the next game that could have easily led to 4-4 with the momentum with Gavin. Thankfully for me the points went my way and it went to 5-3, and I managed to close out. Thanks Gavin." -- Raf

Neal and Joe matched each other stride for stride to finish level on points at the top of the table. - "We started with a break in the rain and managed to just complete 4 games before a resurgence of heavy rain made further play impossible. We enjoyed some great rallies and each managed some admirable winners. To be continued..." -- David

- "This was a good tough game, the first set could of gone either way, so i was lucky to win the first set. The second set was also close, the score line does not reflect how well Colin played, he's a tough opponent " -- Roshan

- "The score does not suggestion how well George played. He has a crushing forehand that can be dangerous. " -- Roshan

- "The match was very enjoyable. Catherine played some very competitive tennis and especially during the second set where I was 3-0 down before I started a long hard comeback. In the first set and I think the 5th game we had 6 deuces before I finally secured the game. We were fortunate that rain held off despite cloudy skies for most of the match." -- David

- " George played, in my view, far better than the scoreline suggests and to be fair to him he had just recovered from a bad cold when we played the final set. His come back in the second set from 3-1 down was convincing. We enjoyed some great rallies with many balls on the lines and we were both happy to count those as in per the rules. I would estimate that about half of all games went to deuce and often several deuces. George is a very agreeable opponent and a true sportsman." -- David
