Match Results:

Reveal CommentEnrique Suarez bt Nav Aulkh (Oct 13) 6-4, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Toughest match I have had so far. Nav is a great player with lots of strengths - specially serving and volleying - and a great game. Despite being 5-1 down in the first set, he almost got it even at 5-4 although I was able to close the set. Nav started stronger the second set which I was able to win by playing as consistent as possible. It is always great to play against you Nav, looking forward to our next match! "  -- Enrique
Reveal CommentNav Aulkh bt David Renney (Sep 23) 6-1, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "First time playing David and it was an enjoyable encounter. The 1st set he was finding his feet on the VP surface. He came out fighting in the 2nd set with better consistency and some great angled forehand winners. I managed to see the 2nd set through. Well played David, looking forward to our next match. "  -- Nav

Match of the Group:

Reveal CommentTom Courtenay-Evans bt David Morey (Sep 23) 2-6, 7-5, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "Epic match lasting nearly three hours. David handled the tough windy conditions much better than I did in the first winning it comfortably and at 3-4 down a break in the second and feeling weary after a tough match against Nav last night I didn't really fancy my chances. I managed to find a second wind and David began making a few more unforced errors than in the first. David served for the match at 5-4 in the third but a couple of double faults let me off the hook. We were both running on empty by the end. Great match and look forward to the next one!"  -- Tom
Reveal CommentNav Aulkh bt Tom Courtenay-Evans (Sep 22) 7-5, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Another close match against Tom. He had numerous break points in the 1st set that I managed to hold on too. Tom has one of the beat Federer forehands that I have come across. I was lucky to win the 1st set. 2nd set I served abit better and after an early break I held onto my serve. Well played Tom, looking forward to our next battle "  -- Nav
Reveal CommentNav Aulkh bt David Morey (Sep 20) 7-6 (7-5), 2-6, [10-8]

Player Comments:

  • "Another close match against David. The 1st set was poor quality from both of us. I just edged it on a tie break. The 2nd set was much better tennis with long rallies. After losing the 2nd set to some great backhand winners from David we decided to play a championship tie break due to time constraints. Again I just about edged it. Well played David, looking forward to our next battle "  -- Nav
Reveal CommentEnrique Suarez bt Jonathan Lucas (Sep 18) 6-3, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Very dynamic match with lots if long lasting rallies. Jon is a great player with a solid serve, I needed to keep pushing forward during the whole match. I’m looking forward to play against you again soon Jon! "  -- Enrique
Reveal CommentTom Courtenay-Evans bt David Renney (Sep 18) 6-4, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "A match of two halves. We started on the astro at Leamington Tennis club on Thursday evening and played out a very hard fought first set. I just managed to edge it in the gloom before bad light stopped play. Malfunctioning flood lights meant that we reconvened for part 2 on Saturday afternoon at Victoria Park. I got off to a fast start and managed to maintain the momentum. We then played a very competitive 3rd set for fun and enjoyed a pleasant post-match beer in the Cricketer's. Great fun."  -- Tom
Reveal CommentEnrique Suarez bt Martin Durrant (Sep 17) 6-3, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "I really enjoyed playing against Martin. We had a very competitive match, specifically the second set where I had to bring my A game on. We had a 15 minutes long game which in the end was won by Martin sending a ball just in the line of the left corner. Looking forward to our next match Martin! "  -- Enrique
Jonathan Lucas bt David Renney (Sep 13) 6-4, 5-7, 6-4
Reveal CommentEnrique Suarez bt Tom Courtenay-Evans (Sep 11) 6-4, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "It is always great to play against Tom, we had many rallies during the match. The first set started with a few serve brakes and was only defined at the very end. During the second set my accuracy at serving improved which I believe was key in winning the set. Looking forward to play against Tom soon!"  -- Enrique
Reveal CommentEnrique Suarez bt David Renney (Sep 8) 6-1, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "The score doesn’t depicts the reality of the match, most of the games were very difficult to win and where many of them ended after various dueces. It was great to play against you David, looking forward to a next match against you!"  -- Enrique
Reveal CommentNav Aulkh bt Jonathan Lucas (Sep 7) 6-3, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "First time playing Jonathan. He is clearly a good tennis player able to hit winners from both sides. I managed to be more consistent and see the match through "  -- Nav
Reveal CommentTom Courtenay-Evans bt Jonathan Lucas (Sep 2) 6-3, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "It was a pleasure to meet and play Jonathan for the first time today. We had a good match with lots of long rallies. Look forward to playing again."  -- Tom

Match Results:

Reveal CommentJames Fortey bt Gabor Kovacs (Oct 1) 2-6, 7-5, [10-7]

Player Comments:

  • "A real tussle that unfortunately had to end with a champ tie-break with the light giving out. Gabor got off to a flyer, chasing everything down and easily took the first set. I changed tac in the second to try and make it more competitive and managed to stay in more points to force the error, pinching the set at the end. More of the same in the tie-break and I managed to get my nose ahead and close out whilst we could still just about make out the ball."  -- James
Reveal CommentGabor Kovacs bt Simon Rutter (Sep 25) 6-3, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "It was nice to meet Simon for the first time. We had a very entertaining match with close games and long rallies. We both had our chances, but ultimately I made a few less unforced errors. Good luck Simon for the rest of your matches!"  -- Gabor
Reveal CommentGabor Kovacs bt Rod Bond (Sep 21) 6-1, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Rod has still been nursing an injury which has limited his options. A lot of close games. If Rod had landed more first serves in the box, the scoreboard could have looked very different. I hope your arm will recover for your next match."  -- Gabor
Reveal CommentJames Fortey bt Rod Bond (Sep 19) 6-3, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Slight delay due to the rain however we managed to get it done. Rod started off strongly before i managed to pick up my game. An injury prevented Rod from firing on all cylinders but there is good improvement since we played last. Good luck for the rest of the matches."  -- James
Reveal CommentSimon Rutter bt Rod Bond (Sep 11) 7-5, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Always a pleasure to play Rod and this was another competitive match. First set was a tale of lost service games which eventually swung my way after a series of long deuce games. My consistency improved in the second set which was probably the difference between us. Great match, and good luck Rod!"  -- Simon
Reveal CommentHarpal Singh bt Oli Lorimer (Sep 4) 6-4, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "A tight match that could have gone either way. Many games were went to long deuces, with both of us of coming back from 0-40 down to force a deuce many a time during the match. I had a bit of luck on the day which helped me keep the edge. Overall it was an entertaining game with Oli. "  -- Harpal

Match of the Group:

Reveal CommentHarpal Singh bt Gabor Kovacs (Sep 1) 6-4, 4-6, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "An incredibly tough match that lasted almost 3 hours. Gabor with his speed chased down every ball and made me work for every point. I was quick out of the blocks and got an early break in the 1st set which I managed to hold throughout. 2nd set was Gabor's turn to get an early break, I tried desperately to break back but couldn't and Gabor manage to close it out, we had to wait for the lights to close out the 2nd set. 3rd set was a repeat of the first, I got an early break and manage to close out the match before the lights went. An extremely enjoyable match, looking forward to our next one."  -- Harpal
Reveal CommentHarpal Singh bt Simon Rutter (Aug 30) 6-2, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Great match with Simon, I was quick out of the block in the first set. 2nd set was much tougher staying on serve until 4-4 before I managed to break and gain the advantage. Simon has improved a lot since we last played, looking forward to our next match"  -- Harpal

Player Comments:

  • "A lovely sunny morning for tennis. Unfortunately our court was oriented so that one end was facing directly into the gradually rising sun which did make things a bit tricky, but still an enjoyable way to start the day. Many games went to deuce, so I think the final score flatters me. Good luck for the rest of your matches, Steve."  -- Martin

There were a lot of tight games, quite a few good rallies and a fair spattering of unforced errors by both of us, but in the end I edged it. Thanks Chris and good luck with the rest of your matches."  -- Andy
