Harpal Singh bt James Fortey (Aug 8) 7-5, 6-4
Reveal CommentDavid Morey bt Nav Aulkh (Aug 7) 6-4, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "My first win against Nav! I think this was purely because he didn't come to the net as much as usual and also I had a few lucky important points helped by the wind. Looking forward to our next match Nav."  -- David
Reveal CommentRichard Randle bt James Fortey (Aug 1) 6-3, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "We started in the rain this morning but it soon stopped and we were able to play a good match at VP. James is a strong, aggressive player and I had to be consistent in order to beat him. He definitely deserved to win more games over the two sets and I felt that it was a difficult match. I look forward to playing again in the next round. Cheers, James! "  -- Richard
Reveal CommentBen Bradshaw bt Nav Aulkh (Jul 31) 3-6, 6-1, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "This match had everything it deserved to have! We thought we may have to reschedule midway through the first set due to rain, but luckily after a 15 minute break we could continue. Nav was punishing me at the net in the first set time and time again, I tried lobbing him and going either side but it didn't feel like my day. The second set was a different story, I able able to power a few winners past Nav but I knew he would come back fighting in the 3rd. What a roller coaster the third set was, we had some monster rallies with some obscure shots and winners. At 4-2, and 5-3 down, I thought Nav had the better of me but I didn't give up. An amazing game, and the second time playing Nav, I look forward to our next match!"  -- Ben
Reveal CommentRichard Randle bt Oli Lorimer (Jul 31) 3-6, 7-6 (10-8), [11-9]

Player Comments:

  • "What a match! A Saturday evening epic before it became too dark. Oli is extremely unlucky to have lost this match. I couldn't win a service game in the first set whilst Oli played well, there was nothing between us in the second and it all came down to a championship tie break for the match. Very fortunate to win but thoroughly enjoyed some excellent rallies and Oli is a great guy. I look forward to us playing again in the next round."  -- Richard
Reveal CommentDavid Morey bt Harpal Singh (Jul 31) 6-3, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Tight beginning of first set. I was lucky with a few miss hits to take the set. In the second was more focused. Great to play Harpal again."  -- David
Nav Aulkh bt Tom Courtenay-Evans (Jul 30) Walkover
Reveal CommentBen Bradshaw bt Tom Courtenay-Evans (Jul 29) 6-2, 3-6, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Wow, what a match! Tom pushed me to the limit in this match. His drop shots were the best I've ever come up against, there must of been 8 or 9 that I simply couldn't get near. We beat one another with some amazing passing shots during the game and I felt like we both had good spells. Our service matches were odd, both breaking each other time after time but in the end I managed to edge it. Very enjoyable game, nice guy and definitely needed & enjoyed the beer after. Aching now!"  -- Ben
Reveal CommentHarpal Singh bt Nav Aulkh (Jul 25) 6-1, 2-6, 7-6 (7-5)

Player Comments:

  • "Nav wasn't his usual self today, he had just recovered from a cold but still manage to drag this match over 2 and half hours. I quickly won the first set, Nav managed to get an early break in the 2nd and broke me at 5-2 to close out the 2nd set. I got an early break in the 3rd and it was pretty much on serve until 5-4, Nav managed to break and make it 6-5, I came back to make it 6-6. The tie-break was tight all the way but I just managed to keep it together at the end and close the match out."  -- Harpal
Reveal CommentTom Courtenay-Evans bt Nader Feghhi (Jul 25) 6-1, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Nader put up a good fight despite being hampered by his dodgy knee. Many games went to deuce and the score could have been much closer. Look forward to playing again soon."  -- Tom
Reveal CommentNader Feghhi bt James Fortey (Jul 23) 7-5, 4-6, [10-8]

Player Comments:

  • "What a match! Full of ebbs and flows. Both had our fair share of winners and unforced errors. Could have gone either way. James kindly agreed to a championship tie break in lieu of the third set due to the heat and my painful knee. Even this was proving to be long and close but somehow I managed to clinch it. Had we played a full third set, James would have definitely come out tops. Really enjoyed it despite being exhausted! Looking forward to playing James again soon."  -- Nader
Reveal CommentBen Bradshaw bt Oli Lorimer (Jul 20) 6-2, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Another game played in this heatwave! This was my first time playing Oli. Oli had some nice ground strokes to either corner of the court but I think on this occasion he lacked abit of confidence at the net. A nice lad and I look forward to our next game. Thanks Oli"  -- Ben
Reveal CommentDavid Morey bt Oli Lorimer (Jul 20) 6-0, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Thanks Oli for the match. With your great technique and more matches under your belt you're going to be a real threat!"  -- David
Reveal CommentTom Courtenay-Evans bt James Fortey (Jul 19) 6-0, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Having played James twice before and lost in a 3rd set tie-breaker both times I was expecting another long and gruelling match. But on a very hot evening in Leamington I played my best match for a long time with very few unforced errors. James was more erratic but hit plenty of first serve and forehand winners as usual. We had a very enjoyable chat and beer after the match. "  -- Tom
Reveal CommentDavid Morey bt James Fortey (Jul 19) 6-2, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "First set was deceptive. Second set showed James's real standard. He should have won it with his big forehand but I clawed it back right at the end. Thanks James"  -- David
Reveal CommentBen Bradshaw bt Nader Feghhi (Jul 17) 7-6 (7-0), 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "This was my first time playing Nader on a scorching Saturday morning! Nader dominated the early exchanges and was quickly 4-2 up in the first set. A couple of missed smashes from Nader let me back in the set and take it to a tie break. I was fortunate to win the tie break 7-0 and I think that took the wind out of Nader's sails. The second set was more straight forward for me and I look forward to playing again. "  -- Ben
Reveal CommentTom Courtenay-Evans bt Harpal Singh (Jul 15) 6-2, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • " I think the second game of the match was crucial. After about a dozen deuces I finally managed to hold for 2-0 and managed to keep my nose in front for the rest of the match. Always a pleasure to play Harpal." -- Tom
Reveal CommentNav Aulkh bt Nader Feghhi (Jul 11) 6-2, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "An enjoyable match against Nader. Afew long rallies and my consistently was abit better today. Looking forward to our next match "  -- Nav
Reveal CommentNav Aulkh bt Oli Lorimer (Jul 9) 6-3, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "First time playing Oli. His got great consistency and can hit from both sides. He played many backhand angled winners. I managed to break his serve afew times and stayed ahead. Looking forward to our next battle. "  -- Nav
Nader Feghhi bt David Morey (Jul 9) Walkover

Match of the Group:

Reveal CommentDavid Morey bt Richard Randle (Jul 8) 6-4, 6-7 (15-17), [10-8]

Player Comments:

  • "Epic match with a great guy. Thanks Richard for a great match that could have gone either way. I had a bunch of match points in the second set but Richard fought to this end and took it deservedly. The final tie breaker was more of the same and I was lucky to take it"  -- David
Reveal CommentJames Fortey bt Oli Lorimer (Jul 8) 6-3, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "A good match and great conversation with Oli. Both of us threw in a mixture of winners and unforced errors off each wing whilst trying to find our 70% game. First set was close with only 1 break in it. I managed to play a little more aggressively during the second to pull away after a 2-2 start."  -- James
Reveal CommentNav Aulkh bt Richard Randle (Jul 5) 4-6, 6-3, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Second time playing Richard this season. Another 3 setter. Richard won the 1st set as he was more consistent. 2nd set his level dropped and my consistently came back. Alot of long rallies and my serve and volley was the difference today. Well played Richard. Looking forward to our next battle "  -- Nav
Reveal CommentBen Bradshaw bt Harpal Singh (Jul 4) 6-3, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "A frustrating Sunday evening game that I feel lucky to of scraped through. Harpal quickly took a 3-1 lead in the first set with both a lovely forehand and backhand. However, our first rain break of two seemed to work in my favour and I did well to see the set out. Another rain break in the second set at 3-3 30-30 once again hampered the flow of our game. I think I coped slightly better with the stop start nature of our game, and I'm sure it won't be long before Harpal gets his first win in this league. "  -- Ben
Reveal CommentNav Aulkh bt James Fortey (Jul 4) 6-3, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "The first 5 games I thought I was in trouble after James broke my service game with a number of spectacular winning shots off both his forehand and backhand sides. However the rains started and we had a 15 minute break; that added to James 3am England victory celebrations the night before meant, lucky for me, he lost his focus when the match restarted. I timed it well to play James, otherwise it could have been very different if he maintained his level early on. Looking forward to timing it well again :)"  -- Nav
Reveal CommentOli Lorimer bt Harpal Singh (Jul 1) 6-1, 1-6, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Close games compared to the set scores, really enjoyed playing against Harpal! And a lovely drink after too! "  -- Oli
Reveal CommentBen Bradshaw bt James Fortey (Jun 27) 6-4, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "I thoroughly enjoyed today's match against James. James and myself both got around the court really well. James had a really powerfully forehand, which I tried to keep the ball away from! The first set was closer than the second, and after i took a nice quick lead in the 2nd set, James made a few errors trying to get back in so I was able to see the set out. Thanks for the match"  -- Ben
Reveal CommentBen Bradshaw bt Richard Randle (Jun 26) 7-5, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "This is the second time Richard and myself have had a match. Today's game was totally different from the first. I'm sure Richard would agree that the standard today from both of us was, unfortunately, not as high as the first match. Far to many shots into the net from both parties were only rarely separated by some great shots that felt few and far between in all honesty. Luckily my form picked up slightly in the early part of the second set which set up the victory. Thanks Richard"  -- Ben
Reveal CommentRichard Randle bt Nader Feghhi (Jun 25) 6-4, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Nader and I played each other last week in the Solihull league and today's match followed a similar pattern. Lots of deuces, not as many service holds as there should have been but another very enjoyable game. Always a pleasure to play Nader and I look forward to our next match already."  -- Richard
Reveal CommentRichard Randle bt Harpal Singh (Jun 19) 2-6, 6-3, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "I'm not sure where to begin! An incredibly tough match played over nearly 2 and a half hours. Harpal's kick serve and slice were too much for me in the first set, which he won comfortably. I made a few more first serves in the second and third sets and that, combined with a few errors from Harpal, was enough to win the match. It genuinely could've gone either way and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole game. Nice to have a beer after the match too. Cheers, Harpal."  -- Richard
