Player Comments:

  • "Over 2 days, managed to complete the game. First set we both played amazing, with almost all games getting to deuce. Second set Tom managed to break me early, but unlucky followed with a bad serving game, which gave me the chance to crawl back to take it. Definitely one of the best games I've played as we both were aggressive and enjoying a lovely sunny day Thanks for the game Tom!! Looking forward to re-match soon!"  -- David

  • "The difference really came down to serve today. Well played dan, best of luck in sweden."  -- Alastair
Reveal CommentBen Bradshaw bt Navtej Aulkh (Jul 24) 6-3, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Nav is like the Final boss that you come up against in a computer game. We have had 3 previous BATTLES that were the hardest tennis matches I've had. First set tonight was no different, I was lucky to take an early lead and we had a mammoth game at 4-2 which turned out to be an important game which i was fortunate to win. 5-2 or 4-3 are very different scores! After seeing out the first set, the 2nd was more straight forward for me, had Nav of had more match practice I'm sure it would of been closer. A pleasure as always and I look forward to playing again soon "  -- Ben
Reveal CommentBen Bradshaw bt Tom Courtenay-Evans (Jul 19) 6-3, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "I managed to get Tom over to Victoria Park and away from Leamington Tennis club for our match tonight. Our 4th time playing. After a an edgy first game which had 5 deuces, I managed to race away into a 4-0 lead. Tom fought back well but I just about managed to finish the set off. Second set was more straight forward for me, with more of my drop shots winning me points at important moments. I'm sure we will have a closer game next time Tom, I look forward to playing again soon. "  -- Ben
Reveal CommentDavid Gomez Cachafeiro bt Daniel Bal (Jul 17) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Unlucky day for Daniel, as his serve was not working. I'm sure in a normal day, the result would had been very different Thanks for the game, best of luck with the rest of the round "  -- David
Reveal CommentAnthony Bonnardel bt Navtej Aulkh (Jul 13) 6-3, 7-6 (7-5)

Player Comments:

  • "Nav had not played for few weeks so was a bit rusty on his tennis game. This was a very tight game with plenty of nice rallies and points. The tie break in the second test was super tight and it could have gone either way. I'm sure next time won't be the same against Nav who is a great player. Good luck for the rest of your games!"  -- Anthony
Reveal CommentDavid Gomez Cachafeiro bt Anthony Bonnardel (Jul 12) 6-2, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Fighting the weather we managed to complete the game over 2 days. Lovely rallies that made the game quite long overall, with both of us missing only when being tentative or not committed. Anthony has ana amazing backhand so with a tad more of confidence, he'll be incredibly hard to beat Thanks for the game and best of luck for the rest of the round "  -- David
Reveal CommentTom Courtenay-Evans bt Anthony Bonnardel (Jul 9) 7-6 (7-4), 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Very close, hard fought match with Anthony as usual. Anthony chased down most of my best shots and I was relieved to just get over the line without needing a 3rd set. "  -- Tom
Reveal CommentDavid Gomez Cachafeiro bt Bruno Machado (Jul 9) 6-3, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Amazing day of tennis. Beautiful rallies that made us both enjoy the sunny Sunday. Bruno's backhand is a beauty that worked a treat pushing me back. Sadly we both missed too many easy shots, still a great time and better sportsmanship Thanks for the game Bruno and best of luck for the rest of the round!. Looking forward to playing you again ."  -- David
Reveal CommentRichard Randle bt Daniel Bal (Jul 7) 7-5, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "I started very nervously and defensively after losing yesterday evening and having played pretty badly. I continued the poor form to go 2-4 and 3-5 down in the first set tonight before recovering. To his credit, Daniel was capitalising on my poor shots and hit some lovely winners. The second set was more comfortable but there was still plenty of running in the sunshine at VP. Thanks for the game."  -- Richard
Tom Courtenay-Evans bt Daniel Bal (Jul 6) 6-2, 7-5
Reveal CommentDavid Gomez Cachafeiro bt Richard Randle (Jul 6) 6-4, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Incredibly tight first set until Richard had the unfortunate event of a fly in his eye. Would had been completely different result otherwise!"  -- David
Reveal CommentBen Bradshaw bt Alastair Wood (Jul 5) 6-1, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "First time playing Alastair in the league. Very few Deuce games, and the score reflects the overall play on the day. The 4th game in the first set which Ali won was tricky. All the best for your remaining fixtures Ali. "  -- Ben
Reveal CommentBen Bradshaw bt Daniel Bal (Jul 4) 6-2, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "First time playing Daniel and he started well, really pinning me back into the corners and he went 2-1 up. After that I sorted my game out and finished the first set, and indeed the match strongly. All the best for your next few matches and with your impending move abroad. Thanks "  -- Ben
Reveal CommentAnthony Bonnardel bt Daniel Bal (Jul 3) 6-3, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Difficult conditions in Victoria park today. Rain, heavy wind, changing conditions every play. Daniel played really well during the first set and I got lucky with few shots that allowed me to break him at 4-3. I managed to carry that momentum in the second set, with conditions becoming more and more difficult. Good luck for the rest of the round Daniel !"  -- Anthony
Reveal CommentRichard Randle bt Alastair Wood (Jun 30) 6-3, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "A really good tennis match at a windy VP this evening. Another opponent I haven't played against for a year and a very similar match to last year. Ali has a tricky serve and hit some solid second serves too that I was unable to deal with. Every game was closely fought and Ali deserved more games overall. My passing shot was working fairly well today, so I was able to win some points that way. Great game Ali - let's not leave it another year until our next match. Cheers."  -- Richard
Reveal CommentRichard Randle bt Anthony Bonnardel (Jun 29) 7-5, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Despite not playing each other for a year, I remembered how close my previous match against Anthony was, so I knew it would be a tough match. Anthony reaches every shot and is very difficult to beat. We had some long rallies and also both missed volleys at the net that we shouldn't have, confirming that we're both predominantly back court tennis players. A superb match in lovely evening conditions at VP. Thanks Anthony."  -- Richard
Reveal CommentTom Courtenay-Evans bt Bruno Machado (Jun 29) 6-1, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "Great to play Bruno again. Last time was a marathon three setter so I knew I was in for a tough match. First set was much closer than the score looks and second set Bruno was in charge at 4-2 playing some tremendous tennis. I was fortunate to get it back on serve and just managed to close it out in the second. Look forward to the next one."  -- Tom
Reveal CommentBen Bradshaw bt Anthony Bonnardel (Jun 27) 6-1, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "First time playing Anthony... I cant remember a game where both players literally get to every shot!! The first set and beginning of the second set were reasonably comfortable for me, Anthony attacked me but unfortunatly played quite a few shots wide / long. When I was 4-1 up in the second and crusing, Anthony changed his style and it was like a stand off. There were long rallies and agonising mistakes in Anthony's favour and I was worried when he got back to 4-4. I was certainly relieved to see the set out and all the best in the remaining fixtures Anthony. Looking forward to our next game"  -- Ben
Reveal CommentNavtej Aulkh bt Bruno Machado (Jun 26) 6-2, 6-1

  • "First time playing Bruno at VP. I handled the windy conditions alot better than Bruno today. The score line doesn't tell how close alot of the games actually where. Well played and look forward to our next match"  -- Navtej
Reveal CommentAnthony Bonnardel bt Alastair Wood (Jun 26) 6-4, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Having played Ali more than a year ago, I was impressed on how his game has improved! It was a very difficult game, with heavy wind and a tight score in both sets. I managed to come back after a slow start in the first set and the second set was decided on very few key points. Well done Ali and looking forward to our next game!"  -- Anthony
Reveal CommentBen Bradshaw bt David Gomez Cachafeiro (Jun 25) 6-2, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "31 degrees was showing as the temperature when we played at midday on Sunday. First time meeting David today. His first serve was the most powerful I have faced, luckily for me his % in on the day was not as high as he would of liked. David won the first game, and I thought we were in for a long hot afternoon. My consistency from then on in was really good so I was thankful to limit the match to 2 sets. David will win games in this league once he has settled in. Pleasure to meet you David "  -- Ben
Reveal CommentNavtej Aulkh bt Alastair Wood (Jun 22) 6-4, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "My third time playing Ali in the singles league and each time it gets harder to play him. He gets stronger and I get older and slower. Ali is strong on both sides and has a great kick serve, With an improving net game it was only one single break in each set that pushed me over the line. Looking forward to our next battle Ali. Well played. "  -- Navtej
Reveal CommentBen Bradshaw bt Bruno Machado (Jun 20) 6-0, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "First time meeting and playing Bruno. Luckily the rain held off and we were greeted with still and warm conditions. It was apparent early on that Bruno is technically a very good player, with some lovely back court rallies coming in the first set. On another day the first set would of carried a different score, but Bruno was unfortunate on some key points which allowed me to play the set out. Second set Bruno found some more form and consistency, hitting some great passing shots. I did continue with some winners of my own so was able to take the second set. Good luck for the other matches Bruno, I know you will do well and I look forward to playing again soon "  -- Ben
Reveal CommentNavtej Aulkh bt Richard Randle (Jun 20) 6-4, 7-6 (7-5)

Player Comments:

  • "Another close match with Richard. He started slow but came out fighting in the 2nd set. He won numerous points peppering my backhand with deep slices and driving forehands. In the end it forced me to serve and volley to stay in the set. Tie break could have gone either way. I feel if he won the tie break he would have won the 3rd set as he was the better.player. Well played Richard. Looking forward to our next battle."  -- Navtej

Player Comments:

  • "Ali was a bit off his top form today and I was pretty consistent and served well. We had lots of good rallies and Ali was unlucky not to win a few more games. Good luck for the rest of the round Ali."  -- Tom
Reveal CommentRichard Randle bt Tom Courtenay-Evans (Jun 17) 6-2, 7-6 (7-3)

Player Comments:

  • "I always enjoy playing Tom and we always have a close, competitive match. Today was no different. After playing an earlier match this morning in the rain at VP, it was a nice switch to sunny, warm weather on a fast court this afternoon. The first set was closer than 6-2 suggests and the second should've gone Tom's way. He was the better player throughout set two, hitting several winners and strong first serves. I managed to just about stay in it before winning the tie break. A match that deserved three sets but I was relieved to win it in two. Thanks Tom."  -- Richard
Reveal CommentRichard Randle bt Ben Bradshaw (Jun 17) 6-4, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Third time playing Ben but the first time I've managed to win. I think the weather helped me as the rain made the court slippery, which didn't help Ben's game as turning quickly was pretty much impossible. He had the lead in both sets so it really could've gone either way. Always a good game. Cheers Ben."  -- Richard
Reveal CommentBruno Machado bt Ollie Tabor (Jun 16) 6-2, 2-6, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Great game played with Ollie! We both had ups and downs throughout the match and had to figure out ways to improve and stay in the game. It was one of those matches that remind you that tennis is so much more than hitting shots over the net to the other side! Overall, beautiful day in the park, great tennis, and refreshing drinks at the pub nearby. All the best to you, Ollie. Good luck on the next matches!"  -- Bruno
