Another superb round in Lee Valley with nearly 80% of matches played and many of these hard fought encounters. Thanks for all of your continued efforts in making this league such a success, and we hope to see you back next time for much more tennis in the summer months.

Reveal CommentZafar Iqbal bt Ivan Georgiev (Mar 19) 6-0, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "Played on a very windy Sunday morning. Ivan found the wind difficult to adjust to making a lot of errors which helped me to take the first set in record quick time! But as always Ivan came back fighting in the 2nd set, with more longer rallies and less unforced errors. I managed to hold off Ivans challenge taking the set 7-5. Nice to win a slightly easier match compared to our previous two encounters. Thanks Ivan. "  -- Zafar

Player Comments:

  • "Another great game of tennis with Phil. Same scenario as last time with Phil taking the first set and and at 4-4 in the 2nd i had to dig deep to take it 6-4. There were some memorable rallies in between points with every onch of court being covered. I think i must have driven phil mad with my drop shots followed up with a lob which were very successful for me. The efforts of the first two sets had taken a lot of steam out of phil which showed in the decider. Phil as always very gracious in defeat. Thanks phil."  -- Zafar

Also Anthony was hampered by a previous ankle injury which didnt help his cause. It was still a good competitive match with some great rallies. Thanks Anthony. "  -- Zafar

Killing broke for 6-5, with Stephens breaking back to take it to a tie-break. Stephens then led 5-1 in the tie break, before Killing levelled it at 5-5. Almost every game went to deuce and many breaks of service; with the players needing to return to finish the match, there's no guarantee it will be over in one game. "  -- Bertie

Great commitment here with all available matches played and everyone earning their bonus points - round of applause to you all. Minh records a full house of wins to put space between himself and the chasing pack at the top of the table. Matthew and Mayang were also on fine form to notch up the victories and tie on 10 points in the race for second place. There was little to choose between Matthew and Mayang in their head to head either, with Matthew just edging through 7-6 6-4 to finish as runner up.
