Player Comments:
- "Well contested games with some long rallies. Tricky conditions at one end of the court made it difficult for footing but it was good fun. Thanks the game Rafael." -- Avvon
Player Comments:
- "Very erratic playing on both sides on a beautiful sunny morning in Abbotts Park. Neither of us could get into any sort of rhythm, but David pulled ahead 4-1 with some more consistent playing and some great passing shots. I somehow managed to claw it back and win the set 6-4. Again David made a better start to the second but again I managed to get back into it and win it although David played better tennis. Thanks for the game David, until the next time." -- Avvon
Player Comments:
- "I'm afraid this was a straightforward victory for Rafael. I played very poorly but on the points when I played well he still had the better of me.. It shows real class to keep your rhythm going when your opponent is giving you very little to work with so well done Rafa! Hopefully I can give you a better game next time." -- Allan
Player Comments:
- "What a great match! The first set was not exactly exemplary tennis from either of us, Patrick was stronger from the mid-point but had trouble closing out the set and I managed to claw it back for a tiebreak which I found some form for. The second set was another story, again Patrick was stronger to start and went up 5-3, but not content to go out without a fight I started throwing myself around the court (literally) and pulled it back to a tiebreak again. The breaker was closer this time but I went up few mini-breaks at the start, Patrick pulled it back to 1 but I managed to close it out at 7-5. Thank you mate, you're still ahead on aggregate but I'm coming back ;)" -- Allan
Player Comments:
- "Another great match against Patrick with some long rallies and quick net play. Once again it took us two days to compete, I took the first set but Patrick came back to win a tight second set all at West Ham Park. With two hours up we stopped at 3-0 in the third and continued at Lee Valley nice and early. With the three game cushion I just managed to keep Patrick at bay despite some awesome passing shots. Thanks for another great game, until the next time." -- Avvon
Player Comments:
- "Great and very tight match, with some fantastic performances on match point!" -- Patrick
Player Comments:
- "Lovely sunny morning at LV. Two close sets with an early break from me in each but in both cases Nick broke back. I managed to close both out in the end however. Some great points and hard work in the heat!" -- Allan
Player Comments:
- "Score doesn't reflect the first set which was incredibly close and could've gone either way. Alllan was leading 3-1 but I managed to break back to 3-3, then, with me serving we had an epic game of about 30+ deuces. Neither of us could close it out but I just managed to do it in the end. " -- Avvon

- "I've never played a match like it. Thunder, heavy rain, we just decided to carry on. With the end date approaching we played through endless rain. In the end, after 2 sets, with huge puddles on the court, and our shoes unable to even walk around, we decided to call it a day at 1 set all. We may not have time to complete before time is up, but we should get bonus points for perseverance. " -- Bertie
Player Comments:

Player Comments:
- "A great match to show of determination and character. The first set slipped away from Dinu, but after a 10 minute rain break, and at 5-2 down facing match point in the second, Dinu fought back, saving 4 match points along the way to bring the set to a tie break. Dinu then saved another 3 match points before a lucky net cord helped the win for Stephens. A very even match sadly not reflected in the opening set. " -- Bertie

- "It was tiresome 4 hours match in the windy and partly sunny courts of Lee Valley. Jason won the first set with his attacking shots, while I won the last two thanks of keeping my freshness." -- Ivan

Player Comments:
- "It was a great challenge for me. Slobodan is playing very good aggressive tennis. I found out that in the start of the first set when he generated 4:1 lead and 40:15 on his serves. Until this moment I could not answer his strong serves and heavy forehands, but then I somehow manage to hang in the set relying on my defence and used my chances." -- Ivan

Player Comments:
- "After my first match I was determined to get off to a flying start and didn't let Zeppe get into his stride. I was relieved to win the first set but became tight at the start of the second. Zeppe broke me in the first game and held to go 2-0 up. I won the next three; the next two games went with serve. At 4-3 up and with Zeppe now serving there were several deuce/ad points and I missed several opportunities to take the game, which would have put me 5-3 up. Zeppe won that game, to level 4-4. I held serve for 5-4 and in the next game, Zeppe gave me a few looks at his second serve and I took the game set and match 6-0 6-4. Great match Zeppe." -- Reg
Player Comments:
- "Oh my dayz! I don't quite know how I won this match. The first set was very up-and-down There were several exchanges of serves but Eric was more consistent. A good workman never blames his tools but in this case, a switch over to a slightly heavier racket strung with the Babolat RPM blast, that I hated up until that point, provided me with a little bit more consistency. After taking the lead in the second set, Eric came back to level at 6-6. Somehow I steadied my nerve and eeked out a 7-6 second set. The third set was a bit of a blur; somehow I won it 6-1. Great match Eric. It was great to play under pressure. Good luck with your remaining matches. " -- Reg

Playing all your available matches more often than not leads to success and this was certainly the case in this group. The top two both got on court six times and bagged their bonus points with Yeser's five wins giving him the gold and Mathieu taking the silver with four of his own. Now Edward defeated Yeser in a classic contest and finished undefeated so what might have happened had he played a few more matches? Maybe we will find out next time.

Group Summary:
A close call for top spot with only two points separating first and fourth place. There were many three set thrillers on the scoreboard and none more so than the match between Tim and Nick which turned out to be the championship decider. In this winner takes all affair Tim bounced back from the loss of a tight first set to take the next two by the narrowest of margins and with this victory climbs above Nick into the lead. Nick didn't have the best luck in his three setters but the points he picked up in all of these defeats helped him clinch second. Well played all.

- "After getting throughly rained off on Saturday despite turning up and thinking we were in the clear, we returned on Sunday to some ominous cloud cover but persisted nonetheless. In classic amateur fashion, there were few holds of serve and almost every game was a break of serve. Stephen's serve was a definite weapon - hitting two aces throughout the match - but despite that a number of unforced errors sent the first and last set to me after 3 match points. A long slug-out battle that involved lots of long rallies and some great points and going well over our court time!" -- Paul

- "Fun and energetic game on a beautiful sunny morning at Lee Valley. " -- Ben
Player Comments:
- "This was a fantastic first set of tennis. Really high quality, with hardly any unforced errors from either of us. Unfortunately we lost the light in the end. Really hope we get to finish the match at some point. " -- Ben
Player Comments:
- "A drizzly morning made for very interesting playing conditions. It was a little treacherous underfoot and the heavier wetter balls were making the majority of shots drop in. The lack of ball pace, though, lead to some enjoyably long rallies and plenty of deuce games. A good, close match." -- Ben
Player Comments:
- "Great game with Antonis - one set each then ran out of time I’m’ leading 6-5 in the final set... powerful passing shots from Antonis that led him to win the 2nd set. I’m just a game away from winning the match; hopefully it doesn’t go to a tie break" -- Abdul-Rashid
Player Comments:
- "Two excellent days for a marathon 3½ hours of tennis match with B. Started off on Sat 12th played 2 hours resulting in 3-6 6-4 and the second time 1½ hours ending with 6-3 unbelievable deuces especially in the last set it could have gone either way with very few double faults" -- Abdul-Rashid
Player Comments:
- "Brighter day for a good tennis match with Ben, we were even stevens at 6-4 4-6, managed to win the last set with changing tactics" -- Abdul-Rashid
