Player Comments:

  • "It's good that Graham and I don't mind running, as we did a lot of it in this tennis match. Very intense rallies at times. Very enjoyable game and workout."  -- Tarquin
Reveal CommentMartin Walker bt Graham Hughes (Jan 29) 6-0, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "An enjoyable afternoon of both high quality competitive tennis & tasty local ale after the match for refreshment ! Graham & I are members at Mossley Hill TC but we opted for an undercover indoor hard court at Liverpool TC to avoid any weather issues. I started well breaking serve & despite some terrific defending by Graham & tough close games I maintained the momentum. After battling break & set points I closed out the 1st set. As Graham was putting me under increasing pressure I tried some adjustments at the start of the 2nd set but at 2-1 down I reverted to Plan A & secured the final 5 games. I hit the lines several times in difficult rallies so thanks to Graham for his sportsmanship & high level of play. Good luck in your next matches !"  -- Martin

Player Comments:

  • "A lot of running around for both of us. Great game. Long rallies, early balls and vollies. A lot of variety in the tactics. Nice match."  -- Tarquin
Reveal CommentTarquin Maylam bt Michael Petalas (Jan 26) 6-0, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "The fastest pace game that we have had. Mike managed to throw in some awesome drop services, along with his powerful serving. The score does not convey that this was an epic action movie, enjoyed by all :-)"  -- Tarquin
Reveal CommentDanny Elder bt Michael Petalas (Jan 25) 6-1, 6-7 (2-7), 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Our match spanned over 2 days. Total match time went past 2 hours. Mike used all his reserves to get back into the match in the second set and it carried through in the last set when we resumed play the following day. When i was 6-1, 5-3 up, i think a part of me thought the match is in the bag. Mike can raise his game when he needs to and can match it with intensity. I hope for more matches like this one and an easy guy to play tennis with."  -- Danny

Player Comments:

  • "It was great to meet Piotr and have a good match. We played most of the match last week but unfortunately ran out of time and needed to finish today. He was playing some brilliant shots, particularly some powerful cross court hits which had me scrambling a lot. We also had some great practice rallying afterwards, great to get to know another lovely player! "  -- Harry
