Player Comments:

  • "Played at St Serfs, it was a really enjoyable match with a high standard of tennis. Plenty of long rallies, with momentum going back and forth. Will was the more aggressive player, often coming to the net, but I put up a solid defence. The second set was close, despite the score, but I was tactical with my shots to stop Will getting momentum."  -- Adam

Player Comments:

  • "Daniel kindly came to St Serfs where I play, so had to adapt to the high bounce, slow balls and sticky surface. With swirling winds and low sun, our rallies were short but I could tell Daniel was adapting as the match went on, with more and more deuces. However, on the crucial points, the unenforced errors crept in and I managed to steal them, not always deservedly. After the match we played a third, friendly set that showed Daniel was getting the hang of the surface. Looking forward to another match in the future!"  -- Adam

Reveal CommentMufeedh Choudhury bt Alastair Noble (Jul 18) 6-2, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "I really enjoyed playing Alastair this evening and we were lucky that after an earlier shower that the sun was shining on Leith Links and the court surface was dry. As I was trialling a new racquet, I had a slow start in the match as Alastair took an early 2-1 lead, but I managed to win the points that mattered to take the first set. Nevertheless, some of our games went the distance, with several deuces. Alastair moved well around the court, and I found myself needing to aim as close to the lines as possible to pull him out of range. In the second set, I was ahead 4-1 before Alasdair made a valiant effort to bring it to 4-3. Momentum at was certainly in his favour, but an additional break of serve in the final game sadly sealed his fate."  -- Mufeed
Reveal CommentMufeedh Choudhury bt Stuart Lussi (Jul 13) 6-4, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Stuart started off strong in the match by breaking my serve in the first game which seemed to be one of the longest first games that either of us have ever played. The court was wet at the start and I was slipping a lot. He quickly went up 3-1, but after I held my serve to make it 3-2, I noticed that he began to make more unforced errors and momentum began to swing in my favour for the rest of the first set. The second set was very similar, with Stuart going up 2-0 at the start, before I levelled at 2-2. He was able to save a match point when it was 5-3 in the second set, eventually taking that game, as well as saving a second match point at 5-4, but eventually I was able to close things out in what was a lengthy, but well-contested effort."  -- Mufeed

Player Comments:

  • "The score does not reflect the pulsating back and forth that ensued in each game and the changes of momentum throughout the match. Nathan was getting everything including one shot which was good enough to be on the highlight reel at Wimbledon. I held serve a bit more consistently and I think that is what made the difference. Look forward to our next matchup, Nathan! "  -- Mufeed

Reveal CommentMufeedh Choudhury bt Henry Vardon (Jun 22) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Meadows on a weekday morning make for an excellent atmosphere for tennis (and free till end of June [mornings only]!) Henry had some issues with his serve which left me an opening to break him on those games, but actually many games went to multiple deuces and I just happened to get lucky on those. But Henry most definitely is a player and I think we both are just a bit rusty and as we start to practice more, we will see incremental improvements in our game. "  -- Mufeed

Player Comments:

  • "Was a great start to the summer league season with a great match for both players. Some very hard fought rallies. Second set had most games going to multiple deuces. Mhairi is a great mover around the court and is able to return some very difficult shots. Serves were letting both players down a bit, but as it's only the first match I'm sure we will improve with each match. "  -- Mufeed

After saving 2 match points in the second set, he fought back from 0-3 down in the 2nd set tiebreak before we had to pause the match. Player Comments:

  • "It’s good to be back playing in the leagues! Really enjoyed this match. Perfect tennis weather and great rallies with a variety of shots played. It took me a wee while to get into the match and Andrew outplayed me. Somehow I managed to get it together to turn it around in the second. The third set was tight with quite a few breaks of serve but still loads of good rallies. Thanks Andrew for a great game and good luck with the rest of the league. "  -- Keith

Reveal CommentChristopher Horner bt Andrew Davids (Jun 17) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Not a scoreline that fairly reflects the matchup. There were some very good quality shots at times from Andrew, but he did struggle to find his serve (with the exception of the only ace of the match)! Best of luck in the rest of the round, and thanks."  -- Christopher
Reveal CommentChristopher Horner bt Andrew Murray (Jun 15) 6-3, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "A tight match played in hot, fatiguing conditions. After an exhaustingly intense first set both of us struggled to keep anything going in the second set, and it came down to who could keep consistent through brutally long rallies of tired shots. I was very lucky to fight back from 1-4 down in the second set as Andrew found some great form near the end and barely missed some winners on break points. Thanks a lot Andrew!"  -- Christopher
