"Nice to play outdoors today with the wonderful views at beechwood park. A good contrast in styles with Nicky making lots of approaches to net made for some fun points. I took the first set with some solid play. I took the 2nd set 6-2 there were some nice exchanges with Nicky making some sharp volleys and I making some good passing shots. Good to meet you Nicky good luck for the rest of your matches." -- David

"A good match played in tricky conditions with drizzle making good footing tricky. The match was quite tactical with lots of slices, drop shots and net rushes. The 1st set was back and forth and mostly even until we got to 4-4 i managed to break for 5-4 and serve out a close set. Scott's great movement and defence made for some back and forth points. I managed to get early initiative taking a 4- l lead in set 2 but Scott stayed competitive coming back to 4-3 held for 5-3 Scott held for 5-4 and i again managed to serve it out to take it 6-4 6-4. Good match Scott really enjoyed it." -- David

"This was certainly a challenging match played at Tredegar Park on one of the hottest afternoons of the late summer. Scott played lots of tricky sliced forehand dtl and drop shots to really test the legs. The first set was largely dictated by who wasn't serving at the sunny end of the court. Breaks and holds were exchanged and there was little in it until at 5-5 I managed a hold and finally break to take the set. The brutal sunshine had really sapped both of our energy reserves for the second set and ultimately I had a little more gas in the tank on this occasion. Well played Scott." -- Nick

"An enjoyable match today at NISV. Vaughan started better playing some sharp tennis we traded early breaks with Vaughan gaining the upper hand to lead 4-2 he held for 5-2. I held to stay in it at 5-3 and broke and held the next 2 games to level at 5-5. Vaughan held for 6-5 i again managed to hold to stay in it to force a tiebreak. I started well leading 4-2 in the tiebreak Vaughan leveled at 4-4 and 5-5 then i eek out the last 2 points to nick the tiebreak in a quality set.I got momentum in set 2 and lead 3-0 the scores moved to 4-2 and then 5-3. Vaughan held to for 4-5 giving me the chance to serve out which i did to take the 2nd set 6-4. A really physical match relieved to get over the line. "Marius and i met today at the Newport tennis centre, Marius has just begun playing tennis the match was played in good spirits with some nice rallies with Marius's speed on show at times. I closed the match out with Marius improving towards the end of the 2nd set despite the scoreline. Great to meet you Marius " -- David

"Really enjoyed this one with Leighton which was much closer than the scoreline suggests - I lost track of how many deuce games we played. Leighton has a absolute weapon of a flatter forehand that will punish any shorter balls. He also made some successful incursions to the forecourt and put away some lovely volleys. In the end a bit of consistency from me won out, but I really appreciate playing someone that also likes to have a go at a winner. Well played bud, look forward to the next time we meet. " -- Nick

"A really tough match with Alex today the 1st set was evenly contested we swapped early breaks Alex led 4-3 and then held for 5-4 playing some really solid tennis outlasting me from the baseline, he broke me to take the 1st set 6-4. I responded well in set 2 racing to a 3-0 lead i managed to get into net a bit more in set 2 changing the rhythm of the match i closed the 2nd set out 6-1. Into the deciding set some really extended exchanges as we fought for supremacy i led 3-1 early but Alex leveled at 3-3. I managed to find a late match surge to win 3 games in a row to take it 6-3. A really good match great to meet you Alex" -- David

"A really good match at NISV, I made the better start gaining a 4 -1 lead in the first set Tim made a few early errors and i played solidly at the start. Tim gradually started to play better towards the end of set one but i managed to close it out 6-2. The 2nd set was a different story Tim played some inspired Tennis to take a 2-0 lead finding some amazing returns, drop shots and angled forehands. In a topsy turvy set i then won 4 games in a row to lead 4-2, Tim won the next 3 games to go 5-4 up. I managed to hold to stay in the 2nd set so we went to 5-5 Tim held for 6-5 and then i forced a tiebreak. In the tie break I just managed to gain the initiative and took a 5-2 lead finally closing 7-3. Great match Tim play again soon" -- David
