Reveal CommentDean Whitestone bt Alessandro Pau (Oct 10) 6-1, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Enjoyable game with some decent extended rallies. Alessandro was steady from the baseline playing some nice strokes. Ultimately the difference was my extra consistency and continued pressure i put him under. At the same time i was not giving much away making it even tougher on my opponent to get into the match. Thanks for the game."  -- Dean
Reveal CommentAntony Parselle bt Mihai Cristu (Oct 8) 7-6 (7-4), 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "It was the first time I've played Mihai and we were pretty evenly matched. I was 2-0 up in first but Mihai came back to 2-2. Then 4-2 up and Mihai came back again to lead 5-4. Luckily I managed to even the scores and both star the next two to go to tie break. I was 5-0 up quite quickly. Again Mihai came back to 5-3. I just managed to get over the line. Second set went very well for me going 5-0 up quite quickly as I relaxed after an edgy first set. But yet again Mihai came back making it a very edgy finish. It was a good game under the floodlights for the first time this year! Look forward to the next one."  -- Antony
Reveal CommentWayne Savage bt Syed Muzamil Baihaqi (Oct 8) 6-0, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Had some good points in the game. Match play experience in the game was probably a factor. Look forward to playing again next time. All the best. "  -- Wayne
Syed Muzamil Baihaqi bt Alessandro Pau (Oct 7) 6-3, 6-4
Reveal CommentAntony Parselle bt Joseph Morrissey (Oct 7) 6-3, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "a nice early start at 9am meant it took us both a while to get into our games. I held serve throughout the first set and managed to win the deuce matches on Joes after some decent rallies but neither of us playing very fluently. Joe started well in the second set going 2-0 up which pushed me to up may game which resulted in me winning the next 6 to take the set. It wasn't a classic, but enjoyable. Look forward to the next one Joe! "  -- Antony
Reveal CommentMatthew Davis bt Wayne Savage (Oct 4) 6-2, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Always a good hit with Wayne. Conditions weren’t great with the court a bit slippery which lent itself to very quick conditions. First set was close until at 2-2 when I needed to save a number of break points which ended up being the turning point as I then broke Wayne in the next game before winning the next two games and with it the set. Into the second set and there was a few different momentum shifts where we shared breaks. It wasn’t our finest tennis but I managed to sneak over the line and take the set 6-4 and with it the match too. Look forward to the next one!"  -- Matthew
Reveal CommentMatthew Davis bt Andrew Pasqualin (Oct 3) 6-1, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Andrew and I usually have good competitive games but unfortunately this wasn’t one of them. Andrew couldn’t quite find his range with his serve and forehand and I played solid and served well. That combination led to a reasonable straightforward victory for me despite there being the odd long rally. When I served out for the match Andrew hit back to back net cords which fell in his favour and then broke me. Potentially a momentum swinger but I managed to break straight back and take the match following Andrews double fault which he’ll probably agree summed up this match. Look forward to the next one. "  -- Matthew
Reveal CommentSyed Muzamil Baihaqi bt Joseph Morrissey (Oct 3) 6-3, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "It was nice match. Close first set with only one break of serve towards end of it. 2nd set i was able to read JO’s serve better. Good workout on a nice sunday morning.. Hope we play again very soon "  -- Syed Muzamil
Reveal CommentWayne Savage bt Mihai Cristu (Oct 3) 7-5, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "First time playing Mihai and it was a good game. Mihai raced away to 4-0 lead in the first set but i then managed to claw things back to ensure a tight finish in the first set which i managed to take 7-5. Second set had some close games in it and as usual plenty of deuce points. Thanks for the game and see you next time "  -- Wayne
Reveal CommentDean Whitestone bt Mihai Cristu (Oct 1) 6-0, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Another first time opponent. I raced into an early lead in the first set and kept it going with consistent play and pressure on my opponent. Unfortunately the second set was not the same story. Mihai hit a great winner to take the first game of the second set. He became more aggressive, rushing the net and hitting some great volleys in the process. We also had some decent rallies as the scoreline remained in the balance at 3-3. It was close but I managed to edge ahead from here and see the match out with the next three games. Thanks for the game. all the best."  -- Dean
Reveal CommentArnoldas Miliskevicius bt Joseph Morrissey (Sep 28) 6-4, 5-7, 6-3

  • "Wet, windy, slippery, and dark! Great match though - looking forward to finishing :-)"  -- Joseph
Reveal CommentMihai Cristu bt Joseph Morrissey (Sep 26) 6-3, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "Great match, some really good rallies, the comeback was on from Joseph in the second set but luckily I was ready for it this time and just managed to pull through. "  -- Mihai
Reveal CommentDean Whitestone bt Arnoldas Miliskevicius (Sep 23) 6-1, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "First time playing each other and first game on my Home patch. I started off pretty well keeping pressure on my opponent and not giving much away. The wind was a slight factor depending on which end you were at. Arnoldas keeps plenty of balls in play and we had some decent rallies. I am sure he will keep improving with every match he plays. All the best."  -- Dean

Arnoldas Miliskevicius bt Syed Muzamil Baihaqi (Sep 22) 7-5, 7-6 (7-2)
Reveal CommentMatthew Davis bt Mihai Cristu (Sep 22) 7-6 (7-5), 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "A good and competitive game with Mihai. First set I lept out to a 4-1 lead before Mihai started playing more aggressively and played some superb volleys and took the next 4 games to lead 5-4 and serve for the set. I managed to dig in and break back before we exchanged breaks again and ended up in a tie break. I managed to stay ahead the whole way and produced two really good winning lobs in my last two points to take the breaker 7-5. Second set was a little more one sided but had some entertaining rallies and some close games but ended up with me taking the set and match 6-1. Great game Mihai, look forward to the next one! "  -- Matthew
Reveal CommentDean Whitestone bt Wayne Savage (Sep 19) 7-5, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Hard court this time. First time playing each other and an interesting tactical first set of working out your opponent. Wayne started well and raced into a 3-0 lead before i woke up and got it back to 3-3. From then the first set could have gone either way. Some decent extended rallies and shots made. As standard also some missed opportunities and unforced errors. A short rain break before starting the second set. I went for more shots and improved my consistency racing into a 5-0 lead before taking the second set set. Decent match and we managed to beat the rain. Cheers for the game. All the best."  -- Dean
Alessandro Pau bt Joseph Morrissey (Sep 19) 7-5, 6-1
Reveal CommentMatthew Davis bt Antony Parselle (Sep 19) 6-3, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Always a good game with Ant and this one was another. It’s fair to say Ant played the better in the first set with an aggressive approach to his game. The pivotal game was at 2-2 where I saved 6 break points with some strong serving and vicious slices. My defensive game, which I needed in this set, kept me in a number of games where Ant was controlling the rallies. After missing the break points I broke in the following game and the one break was enough to take the set 6-3. The second set was a bit more level playing and I managed to get a break to take a 4-2 lead before Ant came back into the game and broke to level at 4-4. I managed to break again though next game and served it out to take the set and match 6-4. Great game as always Ant! "  -- Matthew
Reveal CommentMatthew Davis bt Arnoldas Miliskevicius (Sep 17) 6-4, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "Really competitive game lasting nearly 2 hours. The first set I got off to a good start and managed to break for a 3-1 lead. Arnoldas broke me back and it remained on serve until I broke again for a 5-3 lead. Whilst trying to serve it out Arnoldas came back from a 40-0 deficit and managed to break me. Thinking this was going to go against me now I knuckled down and played a solid game to break to love and take the set 6-4. Into the second set and again I broke for an early lead and when 40-0 up again and then broken from that position again the tide turned and Arnoldas went on a run of 4 straight games and then served for the set. I again knuckled down and broke back for 5-5 before carrying my momentum to take the set 7-5 and the match! "  -- Matthew
Reveal CommentDean Whitestone bt Antony Parselle (Sep 14) 6-4, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "To me this is what singles tennis is all about. Consistent, quality play, variety and working your opponent out to gain the tactical advantage with the current conditions/surface. Fortunately it had stopped raining. However it had left the artificial grass damp and this made it difficult with the bounce and moving yourself around the court. Ant adapted quickly adapted and put the pressure on with effective use of his short slice snd coming to the net. We both also had a decent first serve percentage and both played well. I think i was a bit more clinical when necessary and took more of my chances. Hard Court next time :) Very Enjoyable game. Cheers."  -- Dean
Reveal CommentDean Whitestone bt Syed Muzamil Baihaqi (Sep 14) 6-0, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Second game of the day. Not advised. First time playing Muzamil and the court was a bit dryer than earlier. This seemed to help with the baseline rallies. However again the shorter low ball seemed to be the tactic to gain the advantage. In addition the consistency level was a factor in the game. Cheers and all the best."  -- Dean
Reveal CommentWayne Savage bt Arnoldas Miliskevicius (Sep 13) 6-3, 6-3

Reveal CommentAntony Parselle bt Arnoldas Miliskevicius (Sep 12) 7-5, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Really close game in the first set. I was 3-2 up. Then he was 4-3 up after lots of deuce games. I managed to play the best I have for ages to just take the first set. And managed to carry it into the second set. My experience and the fact I was on form was the only difference in the end. Good game. Look forward to the next one!"  -- Antony

Some better play and rallies in the second and i remained more consistent. Cheers for the game.Time for a cold beer."  -- Dean

Reveal CommentDean Whitestone bt Matthew Davis (Aug 30) 6-2, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Headed over to Matthew's club for my debut in the Local Tennis League. The score line maybe a bit harsh on reflection of the actual match and points played. Maybe the momentum could have been different if Matt had broken my serve in the opening game when i was 0-40 down yet I managed to hold onto my serve. This seemed to be part of the story Matt unable to capitalise on many break points where as i found a way. Typical of a game in the second set after 9 deuces on Matts serve i took the game. Different playing surface(artificial grass) and tactics to my normal hard court. I made good use of my slice, coming to the net and keeping the pressure on my opponent. Enjoyable bank holiday work out. Cheers."  -- Dean
Reveal CommentMatthew Davis bt Syed Muzamil Baihaqi (Aug 26) 6-4, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Very enjoyable match with Muzamil who started this match better than me and hit some impressive ground strokes to take a 4-2 lead in the first set. The turning point was in the next game when Muzamil had a break point to go 5-2 up in which he didn’t take and I managed to wrestle the momentum away by taking the next 4 games to take the set 6-4. I carried that momentum into the next set and went an early break up and despite being broken back I managed to get another break and see the set out 6-3. Overall a very good match and look forward to playing again! "  -- Matthew

Reveal CommentAntony Parselle bt Syed Muzamil Baihaqi (Aug 22) 6-0, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "It had rained a lot overnight so court was a little soft and slow which benefitted my game more. The match was a lot closer than the score suggests with many games going to deuce. But my slice shots not coming off the ground and more consistently wining the important deuce points saw me through to the win. Really enjoyed our first game and look forward to the next one."  -- Antony
Reveal CommentMatthew Davis bt Joseph Morrissey (Aug 19) 6-2, 7-6 (7-1)

Player Comments:

  • "Joe and I have had some really good games recently but this one never really took off, particularly in the first set. Joe didn’t settle into any rhythm and the first set was quite straight forward for me as I took it fairly comfortably 6-2. The second set I started well going up a break but Joe did then start to find his game and pulled off some brilliant back hand winners which got him back in to the set. The set then remained on serve until I had a match point at 5-4 40-30 which Joe saved. We eventually ended up in a tie break with my consistency being the main difference which saw me through to the finish line. Look forward to the next time! "  -- Matthew

Player Comments:

  • "Great match up this was. Richard broke my serve first game, I immediately broke back. 3rd game went to deuce probably 10 times or more. Set the tone for a great first set. Both hitting plenty of winners and some great rallies. Richard edged it and managed to get in front to take first set. Second set Richard started to really get his first serve percentage higher, he caught me with a drop shot, I rushed in to get and felt twinge in my knee. Probably more psychological, but made me a bit more reserved. Richard go in front and pulled away and 2nd set was over fairly rapidly. Best game I’ve had so far and think we both played quite well. Well done Richard, great game."  -- Chris

In the first set I was moving well and quickly got ahead. In the 2nd set my knee was giving me some pain and discomfort and I was finding it difficult to get around the court. Which Karen took full advantage of. I hit some fast first serves and Karen made some brilliant returns, including a hattrick of balls returned with spin that took them along the net cord and plopped down my side for her to win the points.
