Player Comments:

  • "A good game that started in slight drizzle but was pretty good conditions after about 5 mins. Some really good rallies. My consistency probably saw me through in the end. Look forward to the next match!!"  -- Antony
Reveal CommentKieran Taylor bt Stuart Scott-Evans (May 22) 6-4, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Had a good game against Stuart, felt I was a bit slow getting going but we had some really good rallies throughout and Stuart had some really good winners on my back-hand. We had quite a few games where the deuces just didn't seem they would end! Thanks for the game!"  -- Kieran
Reveal CommentAntony Parselle bt Wayne Savage (May 10) 6-4, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "This was a really good match. Nothing separated us except the sun facing one end. It wasn't enough to ruin the game because we both played some good tennis from that end. But it was off putting enough that just winning 1 game from there was the difference in set 1 when the clouds covered the sun. So I got lucky. Wayne managed to break from the sun end early in the 2nd. But probably too early as I won from that end straight after. It could've gone either way. After yesterdays match I was relieved to play well. Looking forward to the next one Wayne. Although at 1hr per set one of us might collapse if we got to 3!"  -- Antony
Reveal CommentMatthew Davis bt Antony Parselle (May 9) 6-4, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Was debating here if I should write some commentary or not! Antony and I have had some classics over the past year but this wasn’t one of them! First set was around who could make the least amount of mistakes which after going 2-4 down I did manage to play a bit more consistently and won the next 4 games to take the set 6-4. Second set I managed to find a bit more of a groove with my forehand and serve and ran away with it 6-0. Antony’s usual reliable forehand wasn’t doing its usual magic today and in the end my consistency was the main difference....and also the fact that I didn’t have a hangover like Antony did lol. Fairly confident that next time will be better and will look forward to it! "  -- Matthew
Reveal CommentWayne Savage bt Stuart Scott-Evans (May 5) 6-1, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Very enjoyable game on a very windy / blustery day. Many of the games were close with lots of deuces and rallies so scoreline reads a bit harsh. Thanks for the game and see you next time. "  -- Wayne
Reveal CommentWayne Savage bt Antony Lafuente (Apr 30) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Enjoyable game with Ant at nice courts. Had some close games that went to deuces but my experience helped me through. Ant was developing consistency in the game. Thanks. "  -- Wayne
Reveal CommentKieran Taylor bt Matthew Davis (Apr 30) 6-4, 7-6 (7-1)

Player Comments:

  • "Another good match with Matt (or at least the second set). Our first set was not our best tennis aa we both struggled to find any quality compared to how we normally play, but I managed to just edge the set. The second set was much more interesting with Matt taking the lead early on and holding it until the very end where I managed to take it just break his serve and take it to a tie break and just about come out on top. We had some very extensive rallies with some quality from both of us. Thanks again for the match and good luck with the rest! "  -- Kieran
Reveal CommentMatthew Davis bt Stuart Scott-Evans (Apr 24) 6-2, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Lovely morning for a hit! My form hasn’t been anything of great recently so it didn’t bode well when in the first set I got off to a sluggish start. After going a couple of games down I started to find some good consistency earning me a run of the next 6 games taking the set 6-2. Into the second and I continued my good form from the 1st set taking it 6-1. Overall a good match. Thanks for the match Stu! "  -- Matthew
Reveal CommentWayne Savage bt Phil Collins (Apr 24) 6-0, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "A really enjoyable game on a beautiful sunny morning. Perfect for tennis, warm and no wind. Some good rallies in the match which make the scoreline look a bit harsh. Phil was definitely improving his consistency as the match went on. Look forward to playing again. "  -- Wayne
Reveal CommentKieran Taylor bt Wayne Savage (Apr 21) 6-4, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "A really close game with both of us playing some really good shots, but then seeming to make silly errors on the easier shots. Some good rallies and tight games as the scoreline shows. "  -- Kieran
Reveal CommentKieran Taylor bt Antony Parselle (Apr 19) 3-6, 6-3, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "As always a very close match that had to go to 3 sets. The weather was great, but a few clouds would have been appreciated. The first two sets were identical, but with the score going to the other player. Multiple long rallies throughout with constant deuces with the last set just being a matter of making it across the finish line. Really enjoyed it as always and good luck with your remaining matches Antony!"  -- Kieran
Reveal CommentKieran Taylor bt Phil Collins (Apr 16) 6-1, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Had a good game with a lot of deuces throughout, given Phil has only just started playing again he played very well. "  -- Kieran
Phil Collins bt Stuart Scott-Evans (Apr 15) 3-6, 6-3, 7-5
Reveal CommentAntony Parselle bt Phil Collins (Apr 12) 6-2, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "It was good match in good weather for it. We had some good rallies and points, but I just had a bit more experience of playing in the league so was more consistent. I think I was lucky Phil was back playing after a long break. It should've been closer than the score suggests as most games went to Deuce in the first set."  -- Antony
Reveal CommentMatthew Davis bt Antony Lafuente (Apr 11) 6-3, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Not my brightest idea to play a game before this one but thought I would give it a go! It’s a while since I had played at West Haddon too and the courts there were quite bouncy so took me a while to get used to them again. Both sets were competitive with Antony chasing down my forehands and always seeming to get one more shot back! I needed my reserve tank of energy and my serve to carry me over the line as I didn’t fancy a 3rd set. In both sets I needed to come back from deficits of 1-3 and 1-4 so all credit to Antony as he had some difficult results in the group recently but was gaining confidence as the matches went on and that showed today! "  -- Matthew
Reveal CommentMatthew Davis bt Phil Collins (Apr 9) 6-3, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "A good hit with Phil in what can only be described from my point of view as a bit of an ice rink! Unable to keep my footing it became a bit of a slug fest and Phil, who had been out the game for some time, made some good shots and kept me chasing around the court! All in all a good game. Best of luck for the rest of your matches Phil!"  -- Matthew

Match of the Group:

Reveal CommentMatthew Davis bt Wayne Savage (Apr 8) 5-7, 6-3, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Really good to be back on the courts after the lockdown and as expected it was a bit of a rough ride with both of us very rusty. First set I got off to a horrendous start and was 0-4 down before I managed to find a bit of rhythm and got myself back to a decent score though Wayne played consistently better to take the opener 7-5. I played much better in the 2nd set and the rallies became somewhat more consistent from both. Just a single break was enough to take the second set and head into a decider. Due to the light we had to abandon and come back a few days later to play the 3rd set. In that set there was some good rallies by both players and the difference for me was my serve had really picked up which helped me secure the decider 6-3! "  -- Matthew
Reveal CommentAntony Parselle bt Antony Lafuente (Apr 7) 6-1, 6-0

  • "A really enjoyable match in a weird series of sunny/cloudy hot/cold weather. But some good rallies and nice friendly match. My experience of playing in the league told in the end. But some good points among the games."  -- Antony

Player Comments:

  • "Good to see Karen again since it has been over a year since our last match, and a pleasant start to Sunday. Karen was hitting her first serves and forehands cleanly and with power, but her footwork and fitness are probably still improving after the lockdown. I think she will get better with each match through the round. Thanks for the game, Karen."  -- Joseph
Reveal CommentRehaan Adat bt Andrew Pasqualin (Apr 25) 6-1, 2-6, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "This was a brilliant match. Andrew did not get going in the first set and in the second set he played brilliantly, and aced me about 8 times. The final set was far more even, I gained an early break at the beginning of the set to go 2-0 up and we then held serve all the way to the end. This match really could have gone either way, hinging on Andrew's first serve percentage as well as a few missed overheads at big moments, on another day he would have beaten me. All the best with the rest of your matches! Throughly enjoyed it. Ray"  -- Rehaan
Reveal CommentJoseph Morrissey bt Andy McGonigle (Apr 23) 6-1, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Lovely sunny day on nice courts at Rushmere. I played Andy before in the Brixworth club ladder and he was improved significantly since them, adding a powerful forehand winner, better depth consistency, and a powerful first serve to his arsenal. Several deuce games and Andy certainly made me work for my sets. "  -- Joseph

Match of the Group:

Reveal CommentDavid Lesnik bt Karen Slater (Apr 17) 7-6 (7-4), 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "It was great to be back on court on a beautiful sunny Saturday at my favorite and well maintained courts at Abington Park and was good to see that all courts were in use! It was also nice to meet up with David again, I had already prepared him with my excuses - not played since September, put on lock-down weight, totally unfit and which end of the bat do I use kind of thing but in the end I was pleasantly surprised with my performance and David and I had some good rallies coupled with an interesting array of shots, once we both remembered what we were doing! A close game and I look forward to playing David again in the next round where I can attempt to turn the score in my favour!"  -- Karen
Reveal CommentJoseph Morrissey bt David Lesnik (Apr 15) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "David has improved a lot since I last played him a year or so ago. In the second set he pushed three games to deuce and had several advantages in his favour, so the score line is a little harsh. I don't think it will be too long before he starts to rack-up some points up if he keeps playing. Thanks for the game, David. "  -- Joseph
Reveal CommentRehaan Adat bt Andy McGonigle (Apr 15) 6-2, 6-0

Player Comments:
