Player Comments:

  • "A cold, wet and windy morning…..so ideal for a game of tennis! Marius’s first game in the group and considering the conditions it was a fairly competitive and decent contest. First set pretty much stayed on serve and I managed to edge it 6-4 followed by a second set which had a good level of tennis played also! We ended up in a tie break where I produced my best tennis of the match…..a volley winner, forehand winner followed then by an ace took me to match point and then another forehand winner down the line sealed it! Not often do I play a perfect tie break but I’ll take it! Thanks for the match Marius! "  -- Matthew

Player Comments:

  • "Nice to post a victory at last! Feeling much better than last week I put on a solid performance against Wayne. Our matches are always entertaining and there was some good rallies as usual. The wind wasn’t kind to us both as it held the ball up a number of times during rallies. My drop shot was particularly effective today and I had a number of winners with it……including match point! Not a classic but enjoyable none the less! Thanks for the game Wayne."  -- Matthew

Player Comments:

  • "Under floodlights on a very cold evening. Matt wasn't feeling great but was still good enough to play. That was probably the deciding factor. I still had to play well to win. But it's usually a lot closer when we are both at our best. Still a good match though with some great shots. I just had more energy in the longer rallies on the night. "  -- Antony

Match of the Group:

Reveal CommentAntony Parselle bt Wayne Savage (Nov 21) 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Another long competitive game between us. Wayne wasn't missing anything in the first set and deservedly won it despite some really good long rallies at Deuce on lots of games I was always chasing. I got going in the second to go 3-0 up only for Wayne to come back to 4-3 up! we shared the games from then to take it to tiebreak which I JUST managed to scrape. The first two sets were an hour each. But we were determined to get the match finished so we upped the tempo in the 3rd and I managed to get over the line. Some really good tennis and a great start to Sunday morning. Look forward to the next one!!"  -- Antony

Reveal CommentKieran Taylor bt Matthew Davis (Nov 13) 6-4, 2-6, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "As always a lengthy match with Matt, had some really good rallies with some great shots by both of us. I managed to get an early break on the first set and do enough to hold out for the set despite Matt having a few break point opportunities. Matt was very consistent throughout and it really showed in the second set when he made very few mistakes. Luckily I managed to take the final set when I tried to up my tempo after it reached 4-4 to finish off a very competitive match. Thanks again Matt. "  -- Kieran

Reveal CommentDean Whitestone bt Wayne Savage (Nov 4) 6-1, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Competitive game in variable weather conditions. Courts were slightly greasy underfoot making quick change of direction difficult. First set i ran into a 5-0 lead. Although after about 10 deuces on Waynes serve the scoreline could have been 2-1 and maybe a different story. Second set remained competitive up to 3-3 before i gained control to see the match out. Remained pretty consistent and the short ball bringing the opponent in seemed to have the most success. Cheers Wayne . All the best."  -- Dean

Reveal CommentRyan Vincent-- James bt Luke Thomas (Nov 13) 6-3, 7-6 (7-3)

Player Comments:

  • "Having played Luke before once I knew it would be a close one. A gentleman of the sport, again such good range of shots, also a threatening first serve which is backed up with a decent second. We will play again (but need some recovery first ha ha) as he pushes opponent to max. I have come away seeing first hand there is so much room for improvement on my shots, as he demonstrated great style. Deuce was our favourite (and least favourite) score. Next match will be 3hours so we will book earlier! "  -- Ryan
