Reveal CommentKolyo Chanev bt Gregory Heath (Mar 3) 6-1, 7-5
Player Comments:
- "Firstly huge applause for the commitment and passion for the game despite the long recovery after illness. Friendly and positive atmosphere. Really enjoyable game. First set we had plenty of long rallies and deuces in almost each game, but probably the lack of practice and unforced errors from Gregory end up to 6/1 in the first set. Second set I had an early lead to 4/1, but from 5/2 Gregory gave everything to get back to 5/5. I've managed to close to 7/5, but Greg saved 2 match points. Overall solid game from Mr Heath and looking forward to meet him in the next round " -- Kolyo
Reveal CommentKolyo Chanev bt Mihai Cristu (Mar 2) 7-6 (12-10), 6-3
Player Comments:
- "Great game between me and Mihail. First set was with up and downs. Mihail broke my serve to take 4-2 up, so I had to push hard to get back to 5-4 and serving for the set, but unforced errors and one great passing shot from Mihail went to 5/5. I've managed to break his serve again and close the set, but Mihail was solid again and it all went to a tie brake. Insane tie brake, which could go either way, but I ve managed some how to take it 12/10. Second set I decide to take control and I had early 4-0 lead, but Mihail try his best to come back, but the gap was too big. Final score 7/6 6/3. Hope I'll see you in next round and play good attacking tennis. " -- Kolyo
Reveal CommentGregory Heath bt Mihai Cristu (Feb 26) 3-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-2
Player Comments:
- "Great game with Mihai. Early start and a long way to travel (Mihai). Really appreciate the commitment. Well played." -- Gregory
Reveal CommentAntony Parselle bt Kolyo Chanev (Feb 26) 4-6, 6-4, 6-3
Player Comments:
- "Kolyo pinned me behind the baseline from the start racing into a 4-0 advantage. By which time I realised I wasn't gonna get anything trying to match him for pace and power. So I went into defensive mode and changed racquet. This worked to slow it down and get back to 4-4. Kolyo powered through the next two matches though with some powerful serving and passing shots. I stuck to defence in the second playing mainly from a few feet behind the baseline and managed to just play one more shot than Kolyo for more games. I played well defensively to win the third to make it a real match that was much closer, even moving forward occasionally! Although I won, Kolyo was playing some great tennis and was the better player on the day. " -- Antony
Reveal CommentAntony Parselle bt Mihai Cristu (Feb 25) 6-3, 6-3
Player Comments:
- "This wasn't a basic straight sets win! It was a really close game on the clay under floodlights. Very few mistakes and some great baseline rallies but also both coming to the net to keep points alive. Only ruined slightly by a group of people walking on court to say they had booked it despite us not being able to book and being told it was the ONLY court available all evening. I was 30-15 up in possibly the last game of the match but Mihai came back to deuce and could have taken it to 5-4 and a different outcome as I was really tired by now. Their rudeness & NCLTC rules of not being able to book courts unless you are not Local tennis league is getting ridiculous. We struggle to get a court and regularly thrown off. Despite being members." -- Antony
Reveal CommentArnoldas Miliskevicius bt Gregory Heath (Feb 18) 6-4, 7-5
Player Comments:
- "Great match with Arnoldas. Neck and neck all the way until the end of each set. Very enjoyable and slowly getting my fitness back. Well played Arnoldas." -- Gregory
Reveal CommentDean Whitestone bt Matthew Davis (Feb 17) 6-4, 6-1
Player Comments:
- "Tricky first set for both players. The wind was swirling around serving was difficult and baseline rallies unpredictable. The second set was much better conditions. My first serve began to go in and i was able to dictate the baseline rallies. Still some quality points from both players throughout the match. Well played Matt. Thats all my games completed." -- Dean
Reveal CommentAntony Parselle bt Arnoldas Miliskevicius (Feb 12) 7-5, 2-6, 7-6 (7-3)
Player Comments:
- "This was real battle and a great game. Arnoldas started really quickly and I had to battle to stay in the match. I was having to hit 4 winners to get 1 point. He got everything. And I was doing the same. I managed to get more control with a change of racquet and battle back to win 5 games in row, The second set Arnoldas also changed racquet for more control. Now we had to hit 5 or 6 winners too get a point. But he totally dominated this set. The 3rd was another battle. I had serve to win at 5-3 up. Arnoldas battled back to 6-5 had match point which I saved and took it to tiebreak. I think the momentum of saving that game just took me over the line in the tiebreak. Great game Arnoldas. Looking forward to the next one!! " -- Antony
Reveal CommentDean Whitestone bt Gregory Heath (Feb 10) 6-0, 6-1
Player Comments:
- "Greg made his debut in this round and even better when we both play at the same club. By his own admission getting back into his tennis after a brief lay off. So lacking some match practice . See you at Thrapston. All the best with the rest of your games." -- Dean
Reveal CommentMatthew Davis bt Kolyo Chanev (Feb 2) 2-6, 6-1, 6-3
Player Comments:
- "Really enjoyable match with Kolyo. The first set was reasonably close until a few really good games by Kolyo let him pull clear and take the set 6-2. At this point Kolyo was hitting his forehand big and that continued into the first game of the 2nd set. This game lasted around 15 mins and had multiple deuces in which I faced a number of break points. Having some how wriggled out that game the momentum slowly began shifting my way and with a slight change of tactics I managed to start getting on top of the rallies and managed to race through the 2nd set 6-1. Into the decider and after going a break up Kolyo fought back to 2-2 before I managed to break two more times and take the set 6-3! All in all a really fun and competitive match!!" -- Matthew

Reveal CommentMatthew Davis bt Antony Parselle (Jan 30) 6-0, 7-6 (8-6)
Player Comments:
- "A lovely morning for a game of tennis…….but the first set didn’t reflect which was error strewn and though I won it 6-0 it wasn’t from playing good tennis. The second set was much better from both of us and there was some really good rallies. Ant probably deserved the second set and did serve for it at 5-4. The sun was in favour at that point as it dominated one end making it hard to serve from there. The set eventually ended up in a tie break in which I ran out into a 5-1 lead but Ant then came back at me and had a set point at 6-5. I managed to save it with an overhead into the sun which pleased me! I managed to take the next two points and the tiebreaker 8-6 and with it the match. Not our best match but nonetheless a good competitive one" -- Matthew
Reveal CommentArnoldas Miliskevicius bt Mihai Cristu (Jan 28) 6-4, 6-4
Player Comments:
- "We both started off sluggish on serve, which carried through the match really, but some really good rallies regardless, I almost came back both sets but Arnoldas kept his cool and got the job with style, well played mate, fully deserved! " -- Mihai

- "Enjoyable game with Ant. Playing on the Hardcourt seemed to turn it into a Baseline. The cross court forehand’s were on full display. Not many points given away easily and had to be earned . Well Played . Cheers " -- Dean
Reveal CommentArnoldas Miliskevicius bt Kolyo Chanev (Jan 26) 4-6, 6-0, 6-2
Player Comments:
- "Great venue and really friendly atmosphere. Good consistent games in first set from both players, but in the last service game I have manage to put some pressure on Arnoldas serve and took the first set 6/4. Second set Arnoldas kept the level and unfortunately that was the key to go over my service games very easy. I had too many unforced errors with combination of double faults, it all went down the hill. After 0/6 in the second set, I couldn't get my level back. Well deserved win from Arnoldas 6/4 0/6 2/6. Good luck with the rest of the games Arnoldas. " -- Kolyo
Reveal CommentMatthew Davis bt Mihai Cristu (Jan 25) 4-6, 6-1, 6-2
Player Comments:
- "Not sure where to start with this one! It was a hard slog rather than an enjoyable game of tennis. The first set was strewn with errors which Mihai eventually took 6-4. Into the second set and I started to improve the my consistency and played a bit more conservatively to bring down the unforced error count and utilised my drop shop well. I managed to run away with it 6-1 and then built a lead of 4-0 in the decider. Mihai started to make a come back to 4-2, and after blowing a commanding lead in my last game I really knuckled down to avoid that this time round by taking the final 2 games and the match 6-2. Not our best match but glad to get over the line this time! " -- Matthew
Reveal CommentDean Whitestone bt Arnoldas Miliskevicius (Jan 25) 6-0, 6-0
Player Comments:
- "The scoreline is harsh on Arnoldas and the obvious improvements to his game since we last played. This was still a competitive match but today i was just not giving any easy points away. All the best. " -- Dean
Reveal CommentDean Whitestone bt Kolyo Chanev (Jan 24) 6-2, 6-4
Player Comments:
- "Decent match between us both and our styles suited well. Kolyo has a solid all-round game and i could do with his one handed backhand. I went 2-0 down in the first set before getting into the match and taking the next six games. The second set also started with me 2-0 down but remained a close affair. It was literally down to the some mistakes at key points or it could easily have been a different outcome. An enjoyable game of tennis and conversation around points. All the best." -- Dean
Reveal CommentArnoldas Miliskevicius bt Matthew Davis (Jan 20) 6-4, 1-6, 6-4
Player Comments:
- "A very long match with Arnoldas on a very cold and damp evening. The match had lots of long rallies and overall Arnoldas was the better player and deserved his win. After a tight first set which Arnoldas won 6-4 I managed to level things up at 1-1 before a topsy-turvy 3rd set where I managed to take a lead before Arnoldas managed to take it 6-4. Overall Arnoldas was a deserved winner. Well played ?" -- Matthew
