Player Comments:

  • "Welcome Margarita, to the Norwich Parks Women's League ! A great game of tennis today, on a lovely sunny day, with no major wind. Both Margarita and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The match was a lot closer than the score suggests, with many, many deuces. I have played consistently during the Winter, whereas this was the first game for Margarita for some time. Hence, I am sure that next time we play , either of us will win. As said above, a thoroughly enjoyable game. "  -- Sandra
Reveal CommentSandra O'Neill bt Julie Cooper (Apr 11) 6-4, 2-6, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "I cannot be more serious when I say we should share the points for this game. It was that close ! We both struggled somewhat in the wind this evening, and a lot of the time the wind carried the ball either just in, or just out. Notwithstanding this, it was a great 1st game of the season for us both. Julie and I always have an even game; and we thoroughly enjoyed the tennis; it really does not matter to me who won on the night. Julie 's slice was on right on cue, and cut through the wind; I just hung in where possible. Bring on our next match, Julie !"  -- Sandra

Reveal CommentCathy Geary bt Victoria Chubb (May 13) 3-6, 6-2, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "It was lovely to play Victoria again and considering she has not played much tennis recently she really put me under pressure. In particular Victoria’s return of serve and her forehand won her many points. I was completely outclassed in the first set. I won the second set mainly because I made fewer errors and at love 4 down in the third set I was really in trouble. Fortunately for me a couple of double faults from Victoria allowed me to claw my way back into the match. A really close contest and a very enjoyable match. Thank you Victoria."  -- Catherine

Player Comments:

  • "A lovely, friendly match played in the sunshine, albeit a bit blustery. Liz started really well winning the first 4 games but once I managed to handle some of her tricky shots, I surprised myself by pulling back to win the first set and then the match. Most games were very close with some good rallies and a couple of very long deuces. Thank you Liz."  -- Marion
Reveal CommentLiz Somerville bt Victoria Chubb (May 2) 6-1, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Always a pleasure to play Victoria. Today’s challenge was a particularly low net - you’d think it’d make it easier but it meant we’d think the hall wasn’t coming over and not go for it! Victoria persuaded me to stay for a friendly third set which was much closer (though I did win it!!)."  -- Liz

Player Comments:

  • "What a very strange match played on a beautiful afternoon. After the first set I thought I was playing well then Bryony really went up a gear and easily won the second set. Having said that most of the games were very close in all the sets. Fortunately on the third set I managed to find some answers to Bryony’s powerful forehand and effective back hand slice. It really was a match where we both deserved to win. Thank you for an enjoyable game Bryony and good luck with the rest of your matches."  -- Catherine
