Player Comments:

  • "Today's was an indoor Sunday match on a novel blue surface at Virgin Active, where every court (of a long line) was occupied, indicating the popularity of the sport. We both enjoyed interminable rallies, possibly the longest I've ever had. We were very equally matched, but I edged ahead. Enjoyable to meet and play Wendy for the first time. "  -- Tessa

  • "Full credit to Mary for even attempting this match after a 22 mile run just prior to our game! She even managed to claw back three consecutive games from 0-6. 0-5 down! We followed this by doing a Les Mills Bodypump class straight after!! Thanks Mary!"  -- Victoria

Reveal CommentVictoria Chubb bt Wendy Thomson (Jan 2) 6-4, 3-6, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "A fun game played indoors at Virgin Active. The match was nicely tied at one set a piece and three games all when we were duly informed the club was closing in ten minutes! No pressure, then, to get the match done and dusted!! With Wendy serving at 3 all, Victoria broke to lead 5-3 with the clock ticking! Wendy then held serve to bring the score to 5-4 in Victoria's favour at which point we were reminded the lights would be going out in five minutes which only added to the sense of increasing urgency we both felt! Victoria did serve out for the win nabbing those much needed bonus points in the process! "  -- Victoria

Player Comments:

  • "A Ladies Who Lunch, afternoon. We enjoyed lunch in the Bannatyne Bar/Cafe before taking to the indoor courts for a game of tennis. A nice way to wrap up 2016! Here's to many more matches in 2017!"  -- Victoria

Match of the Group:

Reveal CommentTessa Killingbeck bt Victoria Chubb (Dec 30) 3-6, 6-1, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "An enjoyable two hour, three setter played indoors at Bannatyne whilst the fog swirled outside. This was really enjoyable tennis with the first set going to Victoria 6-3 while Tessa adjusted to her brand new racket and the faster indoor conditions. Second set was won easily by Tessa 6-1 while the third showcased some great gets by Tessa and and deep balls by Victoria. The third set was close and could have gone either way with both of us enjoying the tennis. A lapse in concentration and focus saw Victoria broken at 3-4 down allowing Tessa to serve out the match which she duly did after a tense final game involving multiple deuces and match points!"  -- Victoria

Both of us had run races in the morning, and as the light was fading fast in Eaton Park, it was a relief to finally finish the match. A great game!"  -- Tessa
