Collapse AllNottingham Parks Singles - Round 15 | Thursday 6 September 2018 to Wednesday 31 October 2018 (Midpoint: Wednesday 3 October 2018)

It was great to see all 4 groups being well contested in this Autumn round of Nottingham Parks Tennis League, with lots of close 3 set matches and a high level of engagement with getting your matches played and early scheduling. This resulted in nearly 80% of matches played which is very impressive for this time of year, and some of you were even rewarded with some Autumn sun! Thanks for making the league so vibrant and we hope to see you back next time!

Group Summary:

This was a busy group with most players completing over 4 matches and all except one earning the midway bonus points for early match scheduling. The top spot went to returning league player Jon who won 4 matches and didn't drop a set to finish just clear of runner up Paul who finished level on points but conceded a set in his match against David. Alex and Jake had strong rounds too achieving 3 match wins, and credit goes to David for being the only player to get all 7 of his matches played.

  • "The combination of a strong gusty wind and bright sunshine shining directly down the court meant that it wasn't a day for 'normal' tennis and very much a question of keeping the ball in play. The scoreline doesn't reflect how hard fought the match was. Getting on for 2 hours for two 6-3 sets !!"  -- Paul

  • "Difficult game in very windy conditions. Think I might have benefited from this being Maciej's first game in Div 1 after being promoted from Div 3, as he gradually got better as the match went on and I feel he will improve further in future matches. He definitely hit the shot of the match - a blistering forehand passing shot on the run when I thought my volley had won the point!!!"  -- David

Group Summary:

Congratulations to Craig for completing a clean sweep of wins to top the group one point clear of runner up Gilbert, who was also on fine form just losing the one match to group champion Craig. This was a high participation group with everyone playing all their matches meaning you all got plenty of tennis and maximum value for money which is great! Thanks for all the match commentaries too revealing comebacks in several matches, tricky weather conditions and lots of deuces. An excellent group!

Group Summary:

It was tight at the top of Group 3 with Mark showing the benefit of early match scheduling and picking up the midway bonus as he went on to finish one point clear of runner up Robert. Credit to Robert though for winning their head to head in 3 sets, seeing him finish with the most wins and narrowly missing out on top spot. Alex and Joe put in good performances too with Alex just hanging on to win their head to head in a third set tiebreak, and Darren showed good form by recovering from losing the first set tiebreak against Tomasz to go on to win in 3 sets.

Group Summary:

This was another very close group with 2 players tied on 10 points, however it was league debutant Mohammad who finished on top by virtue of winning his head to head against runner up Mark. This was a match where the "score line doesn't represent how competitive, back and forth the games were" but Mohammad held on for the win. Maureen had a strong round too also winning 4 matches but missed out on the ever helpful midway bonus points, while Krissy earned the description of being "the epitome of a Nadalesque player" by running after every ball in her match against Mohammad. Well played everyone!
