Reveal CommentRyan Fagan bt Alex Hatton (Mar 2) 6-4, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "A well contested match on a slippery surface, which made it an interesting tactical battle. We traded breaks in the first set and I just about held on to steal the set. Weirdly enough the games were actually longer in the 2nd set, despite the scoreline. Tom has a great lefty serve which gave him a few aces/unreturned serves. Hope to play again soon!"  -- Ryan

Player Comments:

  • "The scoreline is not an accurate representation of how Kamali can play. Clearly has a good rallying style which has huge potential, thus his wins in the league. Think come next time we play it will be much closer. Thanks Kamali."  -- Tom
Reveal CommentCostas Poutziouris bt Ryan Fagan (Feb 25) 7-5, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "Great match with nothing really separating us, both sets were very tight and it could have easily been 7-5 or 7-6 to Ryan in each set. I was lucky enough to get the win in the end. Ryan played some great points at the net which I was struggling to deal with for the most part. But I just managed to hang in and had to retaliate by being extra aggressive in the end. Good luck for your remaining matches mate and I look forward to playing again soon."  -- Costa
Reveal CommentRyan Fagan bt Tom Stocken (Feb 24) 6-3, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "A nice evening for tennis under the lights. Tom's huge serving got some getting used to as well as his good touch at the net. I returned well enough to get the breaks needed in both sets, but Tom definitely gets the shot of the match with passing backhand cross court. Well played!"  -- Ryan

Player Comments:

  • "A great battle with Rory on quite a windy day. Both struggled to adjust to the conditions at first, but once we did there were some good points played. 2nd set saw a lot of deuces and breaks traded throughout. I managed to get the break in the 3rd and held on to clinch the win. Look forward to playing in the next round!"  -- Ryan

Reveal CommentRyan Fagan bt Gilbert Alla-Mensah (Feb 17) 7-5, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Hard game once again against Gilbert with his lethal forehand and speed around the court. Traded many breaks at the start of the first set and then I had to battle back from 5-2 to take it. Just able to edge out the 2nd set, but once again made to work for it. Looking forward to playing again!"  -- Ryan
Reveal CommentKamali Sales bt Alex Hatton (Feb 15) 6-3, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Wow now this one is was a battle. I’ve known Alex since I joined the same club as him and he was the first person to beat me in singles and I remember saying to him I’ll get my revenge one day when he absolutely dominated me! That day Alex was today??. Alex is a great player who has a monstrous serve and hits huge on forehand side and comes to the net very well and it was a very close back and forth set which felt like it deserved a final set. Alex started very strong and I managed to save break points then finally broke him and served it out in first set. Second set after saving 2 break points I rallied to a good lead and managed to end it. Pleasure playing you Alex, this is just the start of our rivalry but for today it stands 1-0 Kam?"  -- Kamali

Reveal CommentCostas Poutziouris bt Kamali Sales (Feb 10) 7-5, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Very tricky match which was very tight throughout. Kam covered the court really well and rarely missed any shots. Kam started the second set really well and there was a crucial game for me serving when I was 0-2 down. I just about held serve after an insanely long point with 30+ shots and I think that’s what gave me the boost to run away and take the second set. Good luck for your remaining matches mate!"  -- Costa
Reveal CommentRory Dalgarno bt Alex Hatton (Feb 7) 6-4, 7-5

  • "Pretty scrappy game! Could’ve gone either way for sure. Only saving grace was my first serve which I was hitting with much more consistency than usual. Cheers Alex "  -- Rory
Reveal CommentKamali Sales bt Gilbert Alla-Mensah (Feb 5) 7-5, 3-6, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Wow what a game against Gilbert at the tennis centre. He started off very strong taking a 2-0 lead and I noticed instantly he is one of the cleanest ball strikers I’ve played against. I managed to get back into it with some almost impossible returns after some outrageous hitting from Gilbert. In truth no idea how I won the first set I just had to pray for errors as Gilbert was serving and hitting the ball so well but I held on and took my chances. Second set my level dropped and Gilberts went up even more and he dominated the set and won pretty comfortably with outrageous hitting on both sides. Final set I went 15-40 down on serve, survived somehow and managed to take a 4-0 lead and finished it off 6-2. Thanks for game Gilbert and good luc

Player Comments:

  • "Great match with so many long points and tight games throughout. First set was immense with big points in the breaker. After 3 hours of play it was deadlocked in set 3 but we had to leave as the tennis centre was closing. To be continued. "  -- Costa
  • "Finished the final set, Ned hit some super shots and deserved the win overall. Played some great points with both of us hitting freely. Well played mate!"  -- Costa
Reveal CommentKamali Sales bt Ryan Fagan (Feb 2) 6-3, 2-6, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Had a great game with Ryan I managed to start strong and take an early lead in first set before a lot of back and forth deuce games with gruelling rallies before finally I managed to take hold of the first set. In the second set Ryan had fully warmed up and was blowing me off the court and after some close games I finally gave in dropped serve and he hit and served great to win second set. In the final set after a very close opening game on serve which I was fortunate to win I managed to break him then another close game on my serve which I just held and thanks to wind I went 4-0 up. Ryan fought hard and broke me back for 4-1 and after a lot of back and forth I managed to hold on and win 6-2. All the best Ryan look forward to rematch??"  -- Kamali

Rory started really well and played some amazing tennis in the first set, especially on serve. The start of the second set was important for me and I just managed to hold serve after a really long service game of 10+ minutes and I think that gave me the boost I needed to eventually win. Good luck for your remaining matches mate and I really look forward to playing more tennis with you!"  -- Costa

Reveal CommentRory Dalgarno bt Tristan Hessing (Jan 15) 7-6 (7-5), 1-6, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Competitive match. I’m sure Tristan was worried after the first 2 games as the winners were flying off my racket. Soon relapsed into my usual form to leave us with a tight tie-break to finish the first set. Tristan won the next set 6-1. Felt a closer than that but he definitely deserved it. 4-2 down in the decider I thought that was it, but somehow managed to win four games straight to take the match. Great game cheers Tristan"  -- Rory

  • "Great game, Ed! It was a very close match. We had some really long rallies and I think we maintained a decent standard, despite moderate wind gusts. I felt like I didn't do that badly in the first set but Ed ran away with it (6-1) which got me a little worried. I tried to ignore that in the second set and managed to find a bit more consistency to match Ed's which was almost unwavering the whole match, and I managed to claim the set after a long battle. It had taken us 1h45m to play 2 sets so we decided to play a match tie break. We were still neck a neck until about 4-5 all. Best of luck in future matches, Ed!"  -- Kristian

Player Comments:

  • "This was an epic 2+ hour match that felt much closer than the score implies. We had numerous very long rallies thanks to Manjit's ability to return almost any ball and we also had several super long deuce games. Even though there was plenty going on in the game itself, we also had to deal with a bit of wind, a bit of drizzle, a couple of slight slips but no falls, and a couple of interruptions to do with court bookings but fortunately we were able to keep the same court. Finally, we also had the privilege of having our very own ball boy and umpire towards the end when Manjit's son dropped in and excellently fulfilled these duties, completely free of charge.
